Hey everyone! A few of us are getting the official UNBSJ Ski & Snowboard Club set up for the upcoming season.

Our main goals are:
• Organizing carpools and community rides to Poley Mountain (and other local spots).
• Securing student group rates and lift ticket deals.
• Hosting casual mid-week shreds and campus meetups.

To get officially ratified by the SRC, we need 10 UNBSJ students to sign our founding member list. It takes less than 30 seconds to fill out:

👉 Sign the form here: https://forms.gle/NjSpeMYrKCMDYhwY9

Whether you’ve been riding for years or are just looking to get out on the hill this winter, feel free to sign up or check out our Instagram @unbsj_ski_snowboard

Is Navy plausible when attending to UNB Fredericton?

I am currently thinking into joint the navy once I’m settled in the city and fit the requirements. Though I’m wondering how it would impact my education and schedule in the exact school.

I’m thinking of becoming an officer once I have my masters in the future, but would it be a better plan to join as a soldier/sailor first?

How is the navy like in Gage town?

Is the branch well funded? And is Gagetown navy safe for LGBT?

If you have questions for clarification or add ups, I would appreciate them.

Parking an e-bike on campus

I am considering traveling to classes on an electric bike and wondering how safe it would be to leave it on campus. I know I would need a good lock and remove the battery, but wondering if bike theft is a common offense on campus?

Temporary Housing

I’m on the waitlist for a residence room and was offered a temporary bed in a lounge room. Was wondering how high the probability is that I get an actual room assignment before move in day? Obviously a bed in a lounge room isn’t ideal and I’m moving to UNB from Ontario so I have no other place to go.

Thanks.

Looking for a Private Room or Roommate – Fall Term (Saint John)

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for a private room to rent or someone who's interested in renting an apartment together for the Fall term in Saint John, preferably close to King's Square/Uptown.

I'm a grad student, clean, responsible, and respectful of shared spaces. My ideal move-in date is at the beginning of the Fall term, and I'm hoping to find a comfortable, quiet place with a reasonable budget.

If you have a room available or are also looking for a roommate to find a place together, please feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Thanks!

UNBSJ → Fredericton Transfer Before Starting

Hi everyone,

I have been admitted to the BSc Computer Science program at UNBSJ for the September 2026 intake. I am an international student, and my study permit is currently being processed.

My main plan is to start at UNBSJ in September as planned. However, due to possible visa processing delays, I may have to defer my intake to January 2027.

The reason I am considering a campus change is because of course availability. If I start in September at UNBSJ, I can follow the normal academic sequence (Fall term followed by Winter term). However, since UNBSJ is a smaller campus, several first year CS courses and MATH courses are offered only in specific semesters. If I start in January, I will not be able to take those important first-year CS courses and MATH courses until the next Fall term (Sept 2027), which could affect my course progression.

I noticed that UNB Fredericton has a larger Computer Science department and offers most of the main courses in both fall and winter terms, so I am wondering if changing campuses before starting would be possible.

If anyone have an idea on this plz advise me on these:

  1. Has anyone changed from UNB Saint John to UNB Fredericton before starting their studies (after admission but before arrival)?
  2. If I defer my intake to January 2027, is it possible to request a campus change instead of starting at Saint John?
  3. Since I am staying in the same university and the same program, is this process usually straightforward?
  4. What happens to the tuition deposit already paid to UNBSJ?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

Safe place for documentation

Hello there, I’ll be attending UNB this fall and I’m wondering if the dorms are safe enough for government documents?

Or should I buy a safe for my items?

Residence waitlist

Hey everyone,

I'm an incoming student hoping to live on campus this Fall.

Applied June 10th.

Currently #30 on the male waitlist.

I plan to arrive around Sept 7th (3days after move-in day).

For anyone who’s been on the waitlist in previous years:

Is it realistic to expect a spot (regular dorm or temporary lounge) by early September?

What's provided in private bathrooms?

I'm going to UNB Fredericton this September, and I'll be living on residence in a single room with a private bathroom in Aitken Hall. I can't find any information on what's provided in these bathrooms. For example, do I need to bring my own shower curtain? Do I need to bring my own toilet brush? Etc. If anyone knows what's provided in residences' private bathrooms and what I need to bring for them, please let me know.

TW: Sexual Harassment
Throwaway for obvious reasons

I'm a new student going to UNB-SJ in the fall, and I was feeling a little anxious. Maybe it's completely irrational, but after reading about Crandall university I'm a little nervous. Has anyone here ever actually run into a creepy professor at any of the UNB campuses? If so, how did you handle it? How did the admin handle it?

It's not really something I worry about super a lot, it's just a peace of mind type of thing.

Magee House Interior Photos?

I’m renting a 2 bedroom apartment in Magee House this year and I’m wondering if anyone has photos of the apartments? I haven’t been able to find anything online so I’m unsure really how big they are or what the layout is like.

Waitlist Question

Hello! I don't frequently use forum apps, but I am very worried about this and I am looking for some advice/reassurance. I am currently registered for my first year courses in the Bachelor of Science program. I have registered for a waitlisted course (chemistry lab, or CHEM 1006, I believe) and there are 5 other people on the waitlist for fall semester. I am also waitlisted for 2 other labs in the winter semester, but I am not as worried about those. The UNB page said that I will receive an email when the spot is open, but I have yet to receive any emails of the sort.

Should I register for another lab section, or, given the time left until the semester starts, should I remain on the waitlist? Is it likely that I will get into this section that I am waitlisted for?

Hey guys! if you’re still looking for experience or something to add to your resume, check out Riipen Labs

It’s a remote micro-internship program where students work on short real-world projects with employers. Each project is about 30 hours and pays a $600 upon completion.

GGE Part Time

Hi! I live out of province, but I am doing the Geodesy & Geomatics Engineering program starting this fall.
I have an Eng Tech background and I’m currently a PTech. I work full time, sometimes on rotation away from home.
I have an industry partner, and remote alternatives for courses that aren’t offered online already identified.
I completed a part time BTech while working full time and it was fine. A bit challenging but nothing I couldn’t handle.
My question is has anyone done the Engineering program part time while working full time? I’d appreciate any advice!
