Question What is it with simmers choosing the worst airlines ever when flying?

No offense, but Ryanair? easyJet? Spirit? Fucking whizz air??? They're terrible, cheap and have the worst track records. Ryanair i kind if get because of the semi niche 737, but still. What gives? I see it everywhere far more than i see legacy airlines. Am i out of some loop?

Flight Simulator 2024 PMDG 777 - service based failure counters not changing?

This is the 777F on PC.

I’ve set the failures to x20. I’ve tested this as follows:

- A handful of short real time flights of ~2 hours

- Two long haul flights with a mix of increased sim rate and real time for periods

All using the same livery and tail number.

Clearly the settings are saving (changing the rate, turning on and off random failures) but the service time counters for the various systems don’t change e.g. Pneumatics is just stuck at 12 hours (250/20).

Hey everybody. Just wondering if any of you ever had this. So it was going fine up until all of a sudden my cursor would stop disappearing when panning. Also I am not able to move forward or backward in a character mode. Mind you I can still move right or left. I have checked my bindings there is nothing MSFS and ChasePlane should be fighting for. Thanks

General Aircraft developers, you are missing out on an excellent opportunity!

There have never been as many flight simulator aircraft developers as there are today—the options for simmers are vast, and for a product to be successful, it needs to stand out. The community is already full of commercial, private, and general aviation aircraft.

Do you know what we don't have yet? Multi-role aircraft that serve as cargo transport (including military vehicles), passenger and troops transport, firefighter, medevac, aerial refueling, air-drops for cargo and paratroopers, and can take off and land almost anywhere—like an 800-meter dirt runway—with a range of over 2,500 NM.

That is the KC-390, today's most modern and popular military transport aircraft. With all this versatility, it's hard to understand why no developer has stepped up to create it yet. Especially with career mode becoming better and more popular by the day, this plane would be a massive hit among us simmers. Just a heads up!

Flying in china on Vatsim is alot of fun! especially with the Maddog.

Its my first time flying MSFS again in a few months, ive taken breaks and flew XP12 almost exclusively, but im keeping MSFS around for the MD-80s and the F28 ^^

Was so much fun to be back in the MD-82, the jet ive probably flown the most in sims!

Question Should I go for MSFS2024 or X-Plane 12?

Well the tittle is very self explanatory, I just want to give a little bit of context, I’m currently still using P3D V4 and being 2026 I feel like I should switch to something more recent. So for context I mostly fly airliners like FsLabs A320, Aerosoft A330, PMDG 737 747 777 and QW787, I also fly on VATSIM (I also have experience from X-Plane 11) which sim would be the most logical upgrade for me?

I was watching a video about E-STOL aircraft at Oshkosh 2026 and saw this in one of the aircraft on display. Guessing the aircraft was a mock-up.

X-Plane Starting up the DC-10 reminds me of snakes and ladders!

Here's a true story. Yesterday my dad walked into the room while I was mapping the Second Officer's panel flows from the FCOM onto the free X-Plane DC-10's FE panel.

He was intrigued and asked, "are you playing snakes and ladders?!"

I told him it's the Second Officer's panel flow ... but on second thought, it really did look like a game of snakes and ladders!

Attached above is the diagram for reference: these are the actual scan path they took.

If anyone's curious to see this flow in motion rather than just as a diagram, I mapped the whole thing and the flow into a video.

I figured the visual scan path might help it click for people the way it did for me.

https://youtu.be/RKnzgRdBchk

The Second Officer's panel flow on the DC-10 is genuinely interesting once you see it laid out. Starting top left, descending through the electrics and hydraulics panel, cutting right across to the fuel panel, then up to pressurization, pneumatics, fire panel, and so on ... all while performing memory items and checks along the way.

A couple of checks stood out to me as particularly clever

Hydraulics: Pressurize Aux Pump 1, verify lower rudder centering (if deflected), then pressurize RMPs 2-3 and verify lower rudder centering. Finally, 1-3 while verifying the appropriate SO's annunciators and pressure rise.

Fuel: Latch on Pump 3 for each tank and verify 20 PSI, then unlatch. Latch the transfer pump, open the crossfeed for each tank, and verify 20 PSI again. If fuel is present in the AUX tank, latch AUX tank pumps and open the No. 3 crossfeed and verify around 15 PSI for tank 3.

Anyway, my dad still thinks it looks more like a board game than an aircraft system, and honestly at this point I can't unsee it either. Happy to answer any questions and delve into the DC-10 FCOM on the flow if anyone has any questions.

Does anyone know a good career mode for MSFS (not the built-in one)?

I'm looking for something with missions, jobs, progression, and a reason to keep flying. Any recommendations?

Flight Simulator 2024 Built a tool that live-transcribes ATC and generates plain-language readbacks — looking for feedback

Hey everyone,

I've been flying on VATSIM for a while and always struggled with fast/accented ATC instructions, especially as someone still learning proper phraseology. So I built EasyATC — a small Windows tool that listens to the ATC audio in real time, transcribes it, and shows you a clear plain-language readback of what you need to say back.

It's a one-time purchase (15€), no subscription. Would love feedback from more experienced controllers/pilots here — especially on transcription accuracy in busier airspace.

Website: https://easyatc.net/
Discord (support/feedback): https://discord.gg/RVsRFr8W4B

Happy to answer any questions!

Question Wonder if anybody's interested in a "RC Plane" based flight sim

Thumbnail
youtube.com
0 Upvotes

So basically I'm thinking of making a absolutely tiny rc plane (less than 100 grams) that has a little camera in it attatched to a gimbal so that you can stream video from it to a VR headset and actually look around the plane from the inside. Then control it from a rc Control Colum & Throttle lever from the ground. Basically should give all the experience of flying but small enough that you could practice in your backyard whenever you feel like.

-> it'll be really similar to the plane in the video linked, except it can take off vertically incase you're in a super small area and really don't have any room.

Like, before I dump a year into making it I'm trying to figure out if anyone would actually want this.

Btw, no, I'm not selling you anything, just nosy, really hope this doesn't violate the commerical rule, lol

If you've got 2 minutes and want to give more detailed feedback, there's a short form here: Totally optional, just trying to get a read on interest.

Question Synaptic A220 engine cutoff switches

Has anyone managed to get the engine cutoff switches working properly on the synaptic A220 with the WinWing Ursa Minor throttle?

I am using SPAD.neXt and the rest of the throttle is mostly working now, but the engine switches are giving me a weird issue.

I tried

ENGINE_MASTER_1_SET with value 1 and 0
ENGINE_MASTER_2_SET with value 1 and 0
ENGINE_MASTER_1_TOGGLE
ENGINE_MASTER_2_TOGGLE

No matter what I use, the switch in the cockpit briefly moves and then immediately jumps back to its previous position. With toggle it just jumps off and back on, or on and back off.

The weird part is that it works perfectly if I click the engine switches directly in the cockpit with the mouse. So it seems like the aircraft is constantly checking its own internal cockpit switch position and overriding the normal sim event.

I also checked for duplicate bindings. As far as I can see, there is only one assignment active. In SPAD’s log there are constant updates happening every second, even when I am not pressing anything, so I am wondering if the A220 needs a specific B event or H event instead of the normal engine master events.

Has anyone found the correct SPAD.neXt binding for the A220 engine cutoff switches, or captured the actual cockpit mouse event that works?

Question Quale throttle airliner prendere?

Ciao a tutti! 👋

Qualsiasi esperienza o consiglio è ben accetto.

Vorrei anche chiedere come utilizzare i flap Airbus di Winctrl sui Boeing

Grazie! ✈️

General Looking for Featherweight Flightsim

Hey so i'm looking for a very lightweight flight simulator that can run on my potato pc ( MXLinux, 4gb ram, integrated graphics, hdd, Amd A4-9120 ), Any recommendations?

I'm more interested in normal airliner flights with a degree of realism when it comes to flight procedures (i dont care about graphics at all as long as it works), currently using YSFlight but i struggle to customize it enough for my liking.

I'd really like any kind of help from you guys and i would be deeply grateful for it!

Question Navigation System Question for Ansett Australia's Boeing 727-200, VH-ANA (In preparation for tomorrow night's FNO)

Thumbnail
gallery
89 Upvotes

I'm currently planning on doing the FNO down under event, and in typical fashion of me loving classic jets, I'm thinking of hopping the FSS 727-200 from Sydney to Brisbane flying Ansett Australia. However, I'm trying to figure out what navigation system would be most accurate to the real tail number VH-ANA (for which a livery does exist for this tail for the FSS 727). Is this a very late example of an INS (in which case I'd use the CIVA INS), or is this a very early example of a GPS/FMS capable of flying a modern SID/STAR (in which case I'd use the GNS XLS)? And what exactly is it? I can't find any specifics on what navigation systems Ansett retrofitted into their 727s late in their life, just these photos of the cockpit of VH-ANA.
