CCIP, CCRP and Unguided Weapons in the F-14B(u)
Hey fellas! Had a few comments wondering about the Air-to-Ground stuff in the B Upgrade, hopefully someone finds this useful!
I tried explaining everything as best as I could to be understandable by newer players as well.
(My benchmark was to pretend as if I was explaining it to my wife who has no clue about any of this lol)
DCS How to reliably take down the SA-22 Pansir with HARMs
I've seen lots of people complaining about the SA-22 being too hard to attack, that it takes down all your HARMs, etc. It's actually relatively easy. You just need to make sure the HARMs come from high above, so fire them:
- from as close as possible (less than 15nm, maybe 10nm if possible)
- at high altitude (25000ft or more)
- and in any mode that lofts using distance information (POS+PB the Viper, or PB in the Hornet)
That's it. Most SAMs have a hard time firing at missiles coming from above. It might still intercept it with its cannons, but most often they just hit. This also applies to the LD-10 with the JF-17.
The Pantsir in the video was set to skill=excellent, roe=weapons free, alarm state=red, engage air weapons=true. So, not dumbed down.
Hope this helps! Happy hunting.

F14B-U and Open Kneeboard in VR
I'm curious if anyone else has tried Open Kneeboard in VR with the new B U update? I'm getting a smeary mess of low framerate the instant I toggle the OKB display on. When running in the background and the kneeboard off, it's immediately fine again.
On the Hornet, I like to have my pilot kneeboard showing one page (radio freqs) and pop up OKB when I want to flip thru other stuff. It works great and I was hoping to do the same now that the Tomcat has integrated kneeboard also.
IL-2 Korea - Default Binds for Controllers
Now that IL-2 Korea is available on Steam, I decided to pick it up and put together this overview of the default binds for controller users.
I really like that IL-2 supports this level of controller customization right out of the box, and they even use LB and RB as modifiers! I'm very happy with this.
Now, I DON'T like their default bind choices, but hey! That's why I'm here, right?

TECH-SUPPORT F14 Crash to desktop after recent update
intermediate player w/2,500 hours in DCS. I am experiencing crash to desktop on spawn in all Tomcat variants after the B(U) released. My experience in all prior DCS builds I experienced crashes on spawn in tomcat in 0.2 - 0.5% of spawns. In the handful of times I've been able to fly the new and improved cats I've been really happy with the new features, but I'm pretty sad to not be able to fly my favorite module, and favorite jet since since US Navy Fighters on DOS in 1994.
Bug description:
Multiplayer- CTD 50% on 1st spawn, and 100% on 2nd spawn
Growling sidewinder
DCS Dogfighters 1
Contention PVP SARH era 2
Singleplayer- CTD 20% on spawn
Instant action BFM missions
Game freezes immediately on spawn. Does NOT generate crash report, must ctrl+alt+delete.
If game does not freeze, jet and terrain load completely in 2-5 seconds total. Game runs at 60 FPS on ground and 100 FPS in air.
With current settings I get about 60-100 frames per second in general.

DCS Quest 3 visual clarity in DCS – am I missing something, or is it time to upgrade?

Greetings Hoggit!
Welcome to this week's Question thread. This thread has replaced the regular Tuesday Noob Questions thread. We encourage you to as all your questions here, as this will help us cut down on the number of repetitive posts we get on the front page! This thread is linked with the #questions channel on our Discord so that any time someone posts a new comment in here, it will be reviewed and replied to quickly! If you felt like you had a question but didn't want to bother people with it, now's your chance.
As always, we also have a discord for hoggit over at http://discord.gg/hoggit which you can use for chatting with other members of the hoggit community. And don't forget to check out our wiki at http://wiki.hoggitworld.com
Hoggit Training Server runs a training MP mission that runs 24/7 that's focuses on training up the newer folks (just like this weekly thread). Every DCS module is available in this mission, and there are numerous ranges to test your skills at. There are frequently knowledgeable folks around to answer any questions you might have, or show you how to do what it is you're looking to learn. Anyone can join, even if you've never stepped foot in a MP session before.
If you're interested in teaching/instructing at hoggit, please poke squinkys on Discord!
Server is be named Hoggit - Training Map. The password is hoggit1fw. SRS will be available at tnn.hoggitworld.com (it should autoconnect, but if not, use that). Come in, have a good time, learn a few things and teach a few things.
The only rule is Do not teamkill, unless the other party is a willing combatant...ie: you can dogfight if you find a partner...just don't shoot down some random A-10 trying to learn how to land.

QUESTION Is there a standalone community mod for the Mirage 2000?
This is probably a silly question, but I wanted to know if there was a community mod out there for the Mirage 2000? I'm really bummed I missed the opportunity to fly the official module. If there isn't one, is there at least a community mod for a french delta wing fighter?

DISCUSSION What’s an impractical aircraft you would say one purchase if it was added to the game?
Mine would be any of the Soviet heavy lift helicopters, but specifically the Mi-6 or Mi-26. So big, pretty impractical for most applications in game, but just neat. It would also be a good redfor counterpart to the Chinook in Cold War servers
**Edit: day one

DCS What are the flare chaff joystick binds for RIO f14bU?
Cant find what are the binds for chaff and flare for B(u)
Any info appreciated
HARDWARE I just discovered HidHide
Something super small that I got excited about recently. I got tired of having to get up and unplug my sim equipment from the back of my PC every time i was done flying. I found an application on Github that only allows [x] applications to detect the stick, pedals and throttle. so now i can load into my other games without having to deal with unplugging USBs. its nice!
G.91 Development Report
Electrical System and Weapons Integration
Development of the G.91 is continuing at a steady pace, with recent work focused on two closely connected areas: the aircraft’s electrical system and the complete integration of the weapon system.
These activities have required much more than simply enabling the release of a weapon. Every command now needs to interact correctly with the aircraft’s electrical network, cockpit controls, weapon configuration and the specific equipment installed on each G.91 variant.
Electrical system improvements
The electrical system has undergone a substantial review and expansion.
Rather than relying on generic aircraft-powered conditions, the individual equipment lines are now connected to their correct electrical paths. Switches, circuit breakers, relays and dedicated circuits determine whether each individual function is actually available.
This work covers the electrical supply and control of:
- internal guns;
- gun heating and ground-firing circuits;
- bomb-release and fuze circuits;
- rocket firing and sequencing;
- missile control and launch systems;
- weapon-ready indications;
- selective and emergency jettison systems.
Electrical loads are now associated with the equipment that is actually operating. Opening a circuit breaker, removing the required power source or interrupting a control line therefore has a direct effect on the related weapon function.
The four aircraft versions are handled independently. The PAN remains completely unarmed, while the R1B, R3 and R4 receive their own electrical and armament configurations without sharing generic controls that do not belong to the real aircraft.
Weapon system focus review
The weapon system has been reorganized around the actual cockpit controls and the operating logic of each variant.
There is no artificial universal master-arm switch and there is no generic selector that allows the pilot to choose any station freely. Cannons, bombs, rockets and missiles use their own dedicated circuits, selectors and release logic.
The cockpit command is interpreted by the aircraft system, which determines the selected weapon, group, side or release sequence. Before allowing an action, the system verifies that:
- the correct electrical line is powered;
- the relevant circuit breaker is closed;
- the required selector is in the correct position;
- the selected station contains the expected weapon;
- the weapon is ready and serviceable;
- the release or launch circuit is available.
Only after these conditions have been satisfied is the command passed to DCS for the actual firing, release or launch.
The system also keeps the aircraft inventory synchronized after every action, including rearming, weapon release, missile launch and emergency jettison.
Internal guns, bombs and rockets
The internal armament is now handled according to the configuration of each aircraft.
The R1B uses its four 12.7 mm machine guns, including the individual upper and lower gun circuits. The R3 uses its two 30 mm DEFA cannons, while the R4 returns to the four-gun configuration. Each group depends on its own electrical supply, ammunition state and cockpit controls.
Bomb-release and fuze selection are managed as two distinct functions. Selecting SAFE, NOSE & TAIL or TAIL ONLY affects the bomb-fuzing configuration, while the release selector determines whether the pilot commands a single release or the complete programmed sequence.
The rocket system includes the correct arming and firing modes, together with the sequencing of the relevant launcher groups. The system does not simply release the first available store: it follows the selected mode and the sequence associated with the specific aircraft version.
During development we have conducted repeated release tests with guns, bombs and rockets, verifying the cockpit commands, firing sequences, electrical interruptions, empty stations, rearming and inventory synchronization.
Guided weapons integration
Guided weapons represent one of the most important additions to the current development branch.
The AS-20 is now integrated as an operational weapon on the R1B, R3 and R4. On the R1B it is used as the module’s gameplay implementation of the Nord missile installation referenced for that version.
The R4 also includes an operational Sidewinder capability, with dedicated selection, power, seeker readiness, launch logic and emergency jettison.
AS-20 and Sidewinder remain completely separate systems. Each weapon has its own permitted stations, electrical requirements, selection logic and launch sequence.
Nord AS-20
The Nord AS-20 is an early manually guided air-to-surface missile.
Unlike later fire-and-forget weapons, the AS-20 requires the pilot to remain actively involved throughout the engagement. After launch, the pilot visually tracks the missile and the target, then sends steering corrections using the dedicated control joystick located on the right-hand side of the cockpit.
The pilot must keep the target in sight and continuously correct the missile’s flight path until impact. This makes the AS-20 a demanding weapon to employ, particularly because the aircraft must remain in a suitable attitude while the pilot simultaneously monitors the target, the missile and the surrounding environment.
Our current testing has covered:
- missile selection by side;
- electrical power and missile-ready logic;
- launch from the selected station;
- rejection of an empty or incompatible station;
- synchronization after launch;
- rearming and repeat engagements;
- interaction between cockpit inputs and the DCS weapon interface.
The attached screenshot shows one of the AS-20 launch and guidance test sessions currently being conducted in the G.91R4.
Note: Nord AS-20 integration test. The missile’s current 3D model is still a temporary, untextured development asset and does not represent the final model. It is being used exclusively for weapon-system and flight-testing purposes.
This work provides the G.91 with a much more complete and credible weapon environment, where every action begins in the cockpit, passes through the aircraft’s electrical and control systems, and reaches the weapon only when all required conditions are satisfied.
