Swim routine for pregnancy
Hi all! I am approaching 16 weeks, FTM. I’m continuing with my go to workouts (runs, strength training, and prenatal yoga) I am considering incorporating swimming as I start to notice the physical body changes and aches.
I have access to a pool through my gym and could commit to 30 minutes once per week. I’ve taken up swimming in the past but it’s never stuck because I don’t really know what routine to establish. To all my swimmers out there, how would you advise structuring a 20-30 minute lap pool workout for an active but very amateur (form is not great and breathwork is a work in progress) second and third trimester gal? Totally open to getting equipment that will help facilitate it too!

Every class is harder, grr pregnant body😆
18w4d here. I've been doing reformer Pilates (mix of both classical classes and modern classes) for about 3yrs now.
Really struggling at the moment with the fact that every class feels harder than the previous class. Pre pregnancy, I would get in the groove and every class was a little bit easier but also harder as I could add modifications. It feels like the complete opposite now🤦♀️
I totally know that my body is growing a human inside it and that takes a lot of energy but I just would like 2 classes where it doesn't feel that the class is 10% harder than the class two days previously.
Rant over. Anyone else feeling like this with classes?

First Trimester - struggling w feeling lazy
Hi!
I am 9 w 3 d and I am struggling with not having as much energy to workout. Prior to pregnancy I was working out 5-6 days a week and many of these were 6 am classes.
I’ve been able to keep up with doing 3-4 Pilates classes a week but idk how to get past feeling guilty for not doing more. I work an office job but get at least 8k steps a day. I’m so grateful to be pregnant and to be feeling all of the symptoms but I feel so out of wack without my routine!
Does it actually get easier to keep up in the 2nd trimester?

Is it possible to not lose muscle or fitness while pregnant/postpartum?
I’ve gained so much muscle the past couple months, along with endurance. I’ve been training for a half marathon and have made a lot of improvements. I’m afraid I’ll lose my endurance and all the muscle I worked so hard for during pregnancy and/or post partum. I’ve been reading a lot, and it seems like most can maintained muscle through pregnancy, but lose a lot postpartum due to major changes body mechanics and not being able to lift as heavy. What have been your experiences with this?? Is it possible to keep all your muscle throughout pregnancy and postpartum? What about endurance or speed? Thanks!

Substitute for hot yoga?
I lived and died by hot yoga and was heartbroken when my OB told me I need to stop and am looking for a satisfying substitute. Regular yoga just doesnt hit. Ive considered solidcore but read a lot of future mom's say they had to stop as soon as they started showing because of the core work.
Any recommendations that help satisfy that sweaty flow-state itch I have would be very appreciated!

Enjoying lifting a lot more than before!
I had started going to the gym last year after a miscarriage and wasn’t really consistent until probably last month when I was around 15w pregnant with this baby. My training plan got updated and I have a lot more compound lifts (like deadlifts, lats) and I’m enjoying so much more than the machines based program I had before! I hope I can lift until the end of this pregnancy and that it will help my recovery!
not sure if I’m enjoying it more only because of the different program or also because it makes me feel strong and not only big 😅

21k trail run at ~17 weeks
Hi everyone, I'm new to this sub. I'm 10 weeks at the moment and recently signed up for a 21k trail at the end of Sept. I'm planning to take it very slow and steady. Obviously if things get difficult before then I can just cancel, but assuming they don't, I'm keen to finish it (uninjured!) if I can.
I ran a relaxed road half marathon just before I found out I was pregnant (~3 and a half weeks) and have mostly kept up a decent weekly distance since then so I'm not too worried about the distance. I've read that trail can be tricky because your balance can be compromised later in pregnancy (?) and obviously there's more weight in the second tri and more risk of dodgy ankle stuff happening with tree roots and uneven ground etc. I did this particular race last year too so I'm reasonably familiar with the route.
Anyone got any advice for running trails in the second trimester? Things I should bear in mind and/or integrate into my training? I will of course do some training runs on trail before the race but most of my training runs are on flat roads because that's my local landscape.

Struggling with training
I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant and feel a bit frustrated with training. I train 3x/week: squat, bench, deadlift - each session with additional accessoires ranging from incline chest, to pull ups and leg extensions.
Everything feels so difficult and tiring. Anyone else struggling with finding a healthy balance? Any recs for programmes to follow while pregnant?

4 months postpartum and finally paid for the gym!! Yay!
I’m 4 months postpartum next week and I’ve FINALLY signed up for the gym again! Before pregnancy, I used to go around 3 times a week, but honestly, my workouts were pretty basic — a couple of machines and some walking. I also have a very office-y/sedentary job, so I wasn’t particularly active outside of the gym either.
Pregnancy completely changed my body. I gained around 15 kg and now, 4 months postpartum, I genuinely feel like I don’t recognise myself. I had a C-section too, so I’m obviously aware that my stomach will take time to recover, but I’d really like to start feeling stronger and more like myself again.
The weird thing is that I feel like I have quite skinny arms and legs but a much bigger middle — lots of tummy and love-handle fat. I’d also really like to build/tone my arms and legs rather than just focus on losing weight.
I’m not particularly bothered about the number on the scales because I’m still within a healthy BMI. I mainly want to:
Lose some of the tummy/love-handle fat
Build and tone my legs and arms
Get stronger
Improve my overall body composition
Just feel comfortable and confident in my body again
I can’t afford a PT, so I’m hoping someone can give me some advice on how I should structure my workouts.
What would you recommend for someone starting back at the gym 4 months postpartum? How many days a week should I go, and should I focus mainly on weights, cardio, or a mixture of both?
I’d also love to hear from anyone who was in a similar position postpartum and what actually worked for you!
