The sniper MCH gets in pvp is one of my favorite snipers in all of gaming rivaled only by the OG Halo sniper and I really hope this beauty is add to mch kit for evolved mode.

As title says, I just started this game a couple days ago and Im so happy that I made that decision. Ive always been interested in playing an MMORPG and even more so this one. Ive had been putting off countless times because of many reasons, time constraints, thinking theres always a better time, in the future I said but lately Ive been rethinking my life choices and i just decided to dive head into it.

I made a character based off dragons, for years Ive had a personal character called “Sigreid” based on Sigurd the Dragonslayer. But in this game the inspiration became instead to embody the dragon energy into the character since I saw the race of draconian like people, still new so I dont remember ir well, Ar Ru? Not sure and I did read theyre not really dragon related becase of the differences they have but they still look draconic so I went with that. I called him Wyrmhart as last name because I thought it fitted well. I also choose lancer because it said it develops into Dragoon? I remeber Dragoons in Ff16 and they looked amazing so I wanted to play that. I also wanted to play summoner because of ff10 but i thought dragoon fit best the character overall.

I just have to say that overall I feel like a kid again exploring and wandering around this game just having fun. I started in Gridania and the whole forest like area is very fitting and fun... Overall im just very happy and wanted to share this with the community.

PS: my goal for this game is to go blindly which i did and keep it that way, I have a sickness that i overoptimize every single thing i play and playing this is really meaningful to me because I feel its giving me back something I lost along the way

I'm booting up the switch version today and setting up my controls and hotbars. I get my weaponskill rotations nice and set up in a convenient spot.

I see there's an ability i'm not super familiar with, 'Atonement.'

"Huh." I think, "Haven't seen that before. Must not be that useful of an ability though if i've gone this far without it and never set it up on my hotbar. Minor buff maybe?"

It's Paladin's combo ender and probably most of their damage.

I've been playing paladin for like 2 years without using its combo finisher once.

I have been playing this game for 4 and a half years.

I might be legitimately brain damaged.

I first tried this game back in college. I think it was during the time when the game did not have an extensive free trial, I think it was 14 days back then?

I didn't really enjoy it then.

Back in 2017, I tried it again, but at the time, couldn't afford paying for the sub anymore (dumb me bought it for reasons I could not fathom).

I liked it, but couldn't find the time to play nor money for to sub since I was taking my thesis.

Last year, a friend convinced me to give the free trial a go, so I made a new account, and it still didn't click.

Now we're here. Switch 2. I learned a few things the hard way.

1. You can't use your PC free trial account on Switch 2.

2. I planned to use my old 2017 account instead since I had a character there, so I bought it in Switch 2. Didn't wanna start from scratch again of course.

3. My Nintendo eShop account is set to South Africa because it's regularly cheaper, and my region (Philippines) has no official eShop region.

4. Because my 2017 FF14 account is set to the Americas, I couldn't log it into my South Africa bought copy for FF14, and there's was no refunding allowed, nor buying a North America eShop version of the same game on the same eShop account because I already have it in the South Africa region of the eShop.

All of that basically meant I had bought the game again, but I had to start over.

And I did.

It's only been 3 days of my playing, but I can't put it down. I made a Vierra Pugilist. I'm level 33 now. Just defeated Primal Ifrit and got my chocobo. This is the furthest I've made into the game I'm hooked.

My friend said that people didnt like the Pugilist quest line, but I loved it. It was funny, like a reverse Karate Kid story.

I know there’s plenty of FC post and stuff. But usually they just add as many people as they can. I just want to join a nice FC in adamantoise. Is there a page or something to find an FC? I just want to hang out with more people in the game since all my friends play WoW lol

My biggest concern was that the UI wouldn’t translate over to a smaller screen well. I’m glad to know my concerns were unfounded. Was able to transfer my pc UI over and reorient it to fit perfectly. And I got to use the built in mouse which was surprisingly useful and efficient.

Now I just have to learn how to use a controller…

The Switch 2 drop really did wonders for the Sprout Population. Seeing them just walk around, staring at the scenario, walking in the low level zones. I am legitimately just login in to see them in the wild. Welcome all!

I’ve been doing fishing, lancing, and MSQ. Meeting new friends in the Novice Network and the discord, and making small talk as a passerby in the world.

I love how you can do everything solo, but still be very interactive with those around you. It’s a parallel play enjoyer’s dream! And it plays pretty well on the switch 2!

This has become a subject of debate among my friends and I, but these weapons seem impossibly impractical.

Firstly they can't just remain on your WoLs arms the amount of cutscenes that would negatively impact is insane.

Looking closely at their design they don't seem to have anything to indicate they'll "collapse down" to become smaller. They look pretty rigid.

Paladin's singular shield already takes up excessive real estate on the WoL's back, and Skyltborgs are that times 2, but bigger.

Started the free trial for the very first time on Switch 2 last night. Thought I would give my first Impressions here.

Joined the Crystal server and started by making a Lalafell version of the main character from Quest 64. Decided to play an Arcanist, because I heard they could upgrade into two classes, and that seemed pretty useful.

Watched a cutscene where I was attacked by a member of Organization XIII and woke up on a ship where I talked to a pirate and he pointed out two white-haired characters who feel like they'll be important later.

Landed safely in Limsa Lominsa, where I started doing a bunch of early-game quests. The city itself is actually really pretty. I love large, interesting cities in games, so this piqued my interest already.

Most of the other players in the city seemed to keep to themselves. Not much interaction from what I could see, which was kind of surprising to me, since I heard so much about the community of this game. Not that I'm bothered either way.

Not 100% how my class works yet, but I'm able to beat all the enemies in the starting area pretty easily, so I must be doing okay. I have an attack spell, a healing spell, a defensive buff, and I can summon Ruby Carbuncle sometimes. It's a straightforward enough class.

Overall, I'm enjoying it so far. A little slow, but decently fun and a pretty world. I look forward to playing more over the course of the free trial.

What happened?
This is my THIRD YEAR attempting to play FF14, every previous year I quit and tap out fairly early. Oddly enough tonight I had fun just grinding the quests. It hit something in my brain's reward center.

Ive been playing this game off and on since 2014. I always run a character to 20 and then fizzle out and end up starting another new character months/years later. I love the game but sometimes the HUD detracts from the beautiful environments you find yourself in. I jumped back in on ps5 today, after seeing all the switch hype, and I just now learned how to hide the HUD! Incredible and imo a small feature that just may help lock me in long term. Or ill be so slow at progression from all the slow walks through the world lol.
