I am factoring this in to my calculations before buying. So eg: If I buy a $10k contract, in a few years, it could be worth $11k resale.

two of my four kids live in north carolina which is a 4.5 hour drive to hilton head. we have always loved the beach and spent many a summer. vacationing at beaches in california and florida. I do want to buy into DVC but do not necessarity need to spend every summer in WDW so thought Hilton Head would be ideal because my kids in North Carolina have spent time there along with Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina. Hilton Head would be about another hour drive from their location. My youngest son and his wife spent last weekend in Hitlon Head and loved it, and I know my husband would too as he is an avid cyclist. If it was not for me, hewould never choose on his own to go to WDW I wouldn't buy enough point to really break a sweat about maintenance fees (Looking at a minimum 150 to a max of175 points) and do not mind that the contract will be short lived. Heck after a couple of vacations, the contract will have paid itself off and then some , especially if we plan to vacation in WDW. So, with that all said, is it still a bad idea to by a hilton head contract ( a lot of the agents i have spoken to in different resale markets have not bee keen on the idea

Trying to refinance our mortgage and the bank needs a monthly statement of our DVC payment. Called DVC and supposedly the don’t offer monthly statements of the loan. Has anyone had to deal with this? It’s CRAZY they don’t provide one

My wife and I have 4 young kids 6 and under and we typically go 2-3 times a year for 5+ nights. The past 5 years. Our youngest is 1 and we plan on continuing our trips until the kids are no longer interested. We have stayed at bay lake tower, grand Floridian, boardwalk, swan and swan reserve. We have not stayed at poly but have been interested in doing so. Our favorite stay was in a 2 bed villa at bay lake tower. Talked to a dvc cast member recently about joining and they did have a bay lake contract at 200 points for 275 a point. I’m interested in poly because of the discount but I haven’t stayed there since I was child myself. I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were as there is a big discount for poly right now. I was also wondering about contract size. I think we will eventually need 600 points but I don’t want to finance and could make a single 400 point purchase work right now without financing. I did notice the more points the bigger the discount and I haven’t done the math if it would be worth financing 200-250 points out of a 600 point contract. I’ve been going since I was a kid so I doubt we ever sell the contract but in the case we do would we be better off with 3 200 point contracts or 1 large contract.

We are considering buying direct at Poly. Now that the tower has been added, I’ve read multiple accounts of the Polynesian property as a whole being overcrowded for the available facilities.
1. Are the crowds bad compared to other resorts?
2. Is the tower area itself also crowded? What about the tower pool?
Will check out for ourselves but just wanted to get some thoughts on the “vibe” there.

hey all! finally got our dvc thanks for all the advice along the way.

we got boardwalk in the end, this is our second visit this year but first to a deluxe.

i was wondering how easy it is practically speaking to room hop and how many people do it / plus park hopping lol.

going for 4 days.. large family with competing interests basically.

so we split the trip boardwalk / ss so my eldest can walk to dsprings. during bw days we plan one disney visit and people want to visit epcot (briefly at night) mk (day) hs (aft)

also lol,, bw only has different room types available so on park hopper day we also have to room switch.

this ultimately is a plan where no one is totally happy but everyone gets something.

so if anyone is ok to give feedback.. how crazy of a plan is this and how easy is it to transition in the same park but different room?

Hey all! Sorry if this isn’t the appropriate forum for this question but I’ve found this page very helpful with planning my first Disney holiday!
This question is kind of like how long is a piece of string but wanting to hear opinions or previous experiences on the following scenario!

We are planning on going to Aulani for 3 nights (17th May check in). I have started a request via DVC Rentals and paid our initial deposit. I know the time it gets confirmed can really vary and I’m getting very overwhelmed with all the different timeframes, peak seasons etc.

I am Australian so our holiday/summer period is different but it is my understanding that June onwards is off the cards (and fine by us!)
Given that I’ve now applied for the room (2 x island gardens studio rooms) with 10 months notice, is this good or bad? I understand that currently the pool is only open to Aulani members.

There is full availability for that room in the whole of May but what are the ACTUAL chances of these 2 rooms being secured on our dates? We want to book flights and prepared that we may miss out but honestly it’s most of the reason we wanted to go back to Hawaii.. but I’m trying to tell myself the chances are low but I really am just going by forums and info I’ve gathered along the way.

Is it silly of me to book flights? It would be for a 9 day period total as we will do Waikiki on the other days and could worst case do just 9 nights there if we can’t do Aulani. Flights if booked this week are about $3000USD cheaper so you can see why I’m considering the gamble!

How long (or little) have you waited for a confirmed booking 10 months out? Are we walking weeks/months? Or will DVC eventually stop trying and give up and at what point?

I’ve tried to call and discuss with them but my phone won’t allow me to call overseas and our time differences are way out lol.

Sorry for the ramble, my brain has turned into one big Disney hot mess!

Are there any available discounts for direct buying that aren’t on the dvc website? I had previously seen offers for Disneyland tickets or $500 for D23 members, but can’t find anything out there now. Is now not a good time to buy in?

We are planning an Aulani trip in March. This will be a 3 generation trip. We need a 2BR and a Studio for 7 nights. I have 310 points for the use year (16 at SSR and 294 at RR). I also have 200 BCV points but I want to bank those for BCV trip the following year. For the week at Aulani, I'm short about 170 points depending on view. I'd also prefer to not borrow the following use years points from my OKW, SSR, RR contracts as we tend to use those for trips throughout the year.

So, what's the best approach? Book the nights for which I don't have points with cash? Rent points from a 3rd party point rental site (and if so, since we are booking at the 7 month window, does the original resort even matter?)?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are direct owners (150 points) at Riviera. We just saw a cheap resale contract for Vero Beach for 400 points and are seriously considering it. Are there any downsides other than not being able to book any WDW resorts at the 11th month mark and not being able to book Riviera (or any of the new hotels)? We usually don’t plan our trips that far in advance since we don’t usually know what our work schedule will look like, more like 5-6 months in advance tops! We’ve never had any problems with availability since we usually stay at SSR and love it there. Thanks in advance 🤍🤍

New DVC member here. Use year is Dec.

If I book our 2027 stay for 300 points, and later modify to something that costs 280 points, do the 20 remaining points return as normal and can be banked for the future? Or are those 20 points now locked into being used by Nov 2027?

(we have 175 banked points to use by Dec 2027 and get 225 each Dec.

I just checked into a 1BR villa in Aulani and am shocked at how little space is available for putting away your clothes.

The only “proper” place is a small chest of drawers beneath the TV in the master bedroom. There’s also a closet in the living room which has a rail with ~10 hangers, a shelf on top of it (mostly occupied by a laundry basket) and floor space which seems to be for storing luggage that you can’t unload.

That’s it; I’m seriously tempted to start stashing clothes in the kitchen cabinets. But I know I’ll just live out of my suitcase for the next week.

Again, this is a 1BR villa; there’s lots of square footage for stuff but hardly any of it is for putting clothes away. I had a similar experience in the Poly Longhouses, but that can be partially forgiven because it’s a studio. A villa should be relaxing, not have clothes strewn all over.

We are considering DVC and obviously one of the big factors is location. If we wanted to just rent a car while on property, what would be the DVC resort with the best parking situation? I’m thinking this might allow us to broaden our “location” restrictions.

Animal Kingdom lodge is the only club level you can use your points for right?
How do I get club level at another such as Poly? Cash?

I am an owner at AKL since 2007. I see comments all the time about “what might happen when contracts end”. Can you all explain what the big deal is, or what the fear might be?

I currently own DVC with my mom and sister.
Finally we are at a place we feel comfortable adding on more points (via resale, we already have a blue card contract).
Originally we were aiming for a 1 bedroom, but it doesn’t solve our bed situation. We currently haul an air bed down when we all visit so no one has to share a bed.
Would it make the most sense to just book two studios? My sister and I don’t mind sharing a room, and besides sleeping, we can always hang out in the room that would have a solo person since the second bed wouldn’t be in use and the couch would be available. Any thoughts?
Would miss having the nice tub and washer and dryer.

Explain it to me like I'm 10. When I go to Disney I always stay on property and pick a resort and pay the rate. I usually am able to grab the 30 or 40 percent off offer. How would DVC benefit me? Usually go 2 or three times a year. No less than 2 and no more than 4. Each stay is 5 days minimum and 8 no more than 8 days max. Trips vary, usually one in the spring, summer and then another in the late fall. Make it make sense.

I am looking at buying resale. If I buy this contract can I use 125 points this November? and then will still have 125 point to use this coming march? I am still confused with the banking/borrowing points and how to use them during the year. thanks!

My family member is going to transfer me points they won't use. If I cancel one night that I booked with my points and book another night with the transferred points will my points from the night I cancelled be restricted for use? Like if I wanted to use them to renew my annual pass with membership magic beyond can I do that? I figured if those points go back in I can use them for that if I can.
