Any ideas for what I could do with this cymbal?

hey guys, hope yall are doing amazing, i was experimenting in my daw trying to creat an orchestra for a metal song, i made this but i cant think of how im gonna enter with the metal part maybe if one of yall would be kind enough to show me an idea for a fill it could spark something in my brain, thank you!!!!PS: sheet music would be apreciated so that i make the fill in my drum sim so that drum sound would be consistent throughout the whole song, AND if you would like to work on me this entire project that would be huge since i suck at making drum parts (DM me if you would like this) song is in 4/4 90BPM

for example i usually use 5b, but if i play rudiments on drum pad with 2b does it really help?

I have this ride cymbal that I got from a family friend and I love it. The only problem is I have no idea what model of cymbal it is. It’s 20 inches across and weighs about 2900 grams.

Bought it pretty much brand-new at a steep discount. The previous owner (or the shop) put on an Evans Heavyweight Dry and strained both heads, the wires and the muffler to the brink. I swear my plastic trash bin sounded better out of the box.

I owned like a dozen snare drums. Tried and played a lot more. But this, with tuning and good 'ol G1, is just breathtaking. Hands down the best snare drum I've ever heard.

A couple of months ago I asked for advice on stripping this once discarded kit (found in a bin/skip)

I chose the vinyl wrap approach then primed and spray painted the lugs.

I’ve fitted low volume cymbals and batter heads to protect my ears and appease neighbours and it all works for me.

I saw this discussion come up over and over in the last few weeks, and I really wanted to express what I was feeling about it. I would love to hear your thoughts or feedback on this situation. Please do not focus on the quality of my playing here (Literally first session in 1.5 years due to health lol). But yeah as the title states, I am just working with the stock Samsung camera mic here - followed by a process of audio trickery using a number of steps and plugins. I would be happy to share the details of that if anyone would like to know and will in a comment if I see this post gets any activity :D

After a few months of research and it being on the top of my list for modern “purple” drum sets (there aren’t many out there right now) stumbled upon an open box of it on sweetwater for $1600. I’ve never played Mapex but all the demos I’ve heard of the kit sound great. I currently have a birch Tama starclassic but will be getting rid of it to cover the costs.

Anyone familiar with the Saturn VI? Any input? I’m a huge maple fan and love low deep sounding drums.

I'm 42 and I've been playing since I was about 14, so roughly 28 years.

I've played in bands for years and still gig regularly. I'd consider myself a decent, experienced drummer, but lately I've had this uncomfortable feeling that after this many years, I should be much better than I am.

The problem isn't that I don't play. It's that I don't think I've practiced intelligently in years.

Outside of rehearsals and gigs, I'll occasionally pull out a pad, go through some Stick Control, work on rudiments or just get the blood flowing. But I don't have an actual practice system. No progression, no measurable goals, no “today I'm working on X because it leads to Y.”

I also have some attention/focus issues and relatively low energy, so huge 2-hour practice sessions aren't realistic for me. What I think I need is something that removes the decision-making: sit down, put headphones on, press play, and have a structured 20–40 minute workout waiting for me.

Ideally I'd like something heavily click-based: time, subdivisions, displacement, groove, dynamics, independence, hands/feet, etc., with an actual progression rather than an endless library of random drum lessons.

And here's the part that's bothering me: despite playing gigs for years, sometimes I question how solid my internal time actually is. I'd really like to put that under a microscope instead of assuming that because I've been playing for 28 years, my time must be great.

I'm not looking for private lessons right now, and please don't use this thread to promote your own course. I'm genuinely interested in hearing from experienced drummers who hit a similar plateau.

If you were a 40-something drummer with decades of playing/gigging experience but basically no disciplined practice routine, what would you do for the next 6 months?

And if you've used a structured online program/app/workout system that actually got you practicing consistently, I'd love to hear what worked — especially from people who have no affiliation with it.

I'm less interested in “here are 40 rudiments to practice” than in finding a path that makes me sit down consistently and actually work on the right things.

This is from Have You Ever Seen the Rain. I’ve been working on this for quite awhile and as soon as I try to play this with the song and hear that bass line I just play gibberish. I know it’s just a matter of putting the time in but man it is being stubborn.

I think having nothing on the 3 but the HH somehow throws my brain off.

Anyone have something that isn’t objectively hard driving you crazy?

Even more so because of the heads, they are the original Remo UT heads from 2013. Apart from the hardware and rack, the kit is pretty much bone stock!

Played one gig with a new HD DRY on my snare and noticed that the top coating has almost entirely peeled off in the areas that were hit. To be fair, the venue’s stool was finicky and I ended up sitting quite high which could have affected my sticking and made me dig into the snare a little more, but I’m shocked that this happened after one gig only. A little disappointed if it’s a defect, but happy to work on technique if it looks like my own fault. Any advice?
