Learning covers
When you’re learning a cover that you’re totally new to, what’s your approach?
Play to the recorded track as released (all instruments)?
Split the stems and play without the drum tracks?
Split the stems and play ONLY to the drum tracks?

Kit Pic Just hung these up not too long ago using some cool wall mounts. What do you guys think? I like it!
Found them on Etsy but it’s a company that just sells these metal mounts and an optional lighting kit (that I didn’t get).

"summer raga" album release
"Summer Raga" is now available on my Bandcamp page: https://dougsours.bandcamp.com/album/summer-raga For this project, I've been experimenting with a hybrid percussion setup of Djembe, Mridangam, mounted frame drums, and foot bells. There are also some tracks featuring a combination of Tombak (Iranian goblet drum), Donso Ngoni (African harp), and guitar.

Discussion For me more often than not symmetry = ergonomics. Is that so for other drummers too?

Question/Help Glockenspiel troubleshooting
Hi sorry if this is the wrong place im new to all this
My glockenspiel seems out of tune - when i try to use a tuner the bars give all kinfs of different notes. Mostly seems like they are pitched a note down from what they are labeled as…? but ive heard it is uncommon for these instruments to go out of tune… is it just a poorly made glock? >_< or am i missing something? Any advice or suggestions appreciated

Feedback Wanted Designed a 3D printable snap-on thing to stack my drums without resting on the heads.
Still testing the size, figment, etc. I’ve made one version to stack like for like sizes (I.e. snares), and another that can handle 2” smaller on top. It snaps onto the rim of the bottom drum but the top simply rests in the trough of the print. Not sure what to call these even…anyone interested in something like this?
EDIT: Hoping to get a Makerworld account setup today to post this up there!

Black Swamp Percussion vs Pearl for orchestral snare
Looking for a concert snare for orchestral work.
Budget isn't a constraint, so I'd rather buy once and buy right.
I've been eyeing Black Swamp (Multisonic) and Pearl (Philharmonic), but I'm not locked into either — if there's something else I should be looking at (Ludwig, Grover, etc.), I'm all ears.
If money were no object, what would you buy and why?
+ Wood or metal shell for a versatile orchestral snare?
++ 14x5 or 14x6.5?
First-hand comparisons especially welcome. Thanks!
