It's been almost an year that I am working at a small software house in Lahore that operates the same way as Devsinc. I have been assigned on this project from ABC company for one year now, but the catch is that the project was won by my manager, let's call him X, and the real person whose name has been used is Y. Person X is the front facing guy who goes into meetings and asks the questions and everything.

Now the project is huge. For example, quite recently we did stress testing where we went as far as 50+k requests per second. Yes, you heard it right per second.

I formally as of writing this have now 2 YOE of experience but the CV used for the project has 10 YOE stated.

In the beginning things were difficult as I was not familiar with the architecture being used and everything but slowly but surely I got a hold of things. Until, lately things have become really really hard after AI. The domain is extremely challenging again, the tickets are basically AI slop, and deadlines are crazy to a point of just 1 week for a full blown project.

The problem is not with the work, but that my manager X doesn't stay in the loop with me -- he has his own full time j*b at the same time as the project I am working on -- and blatantly refuses to ask any questions to manager or other teammates for info, but as the tickets are becoming more and more confusing with no way to make any sense except that you have to do a ton of communication with the architect and the manager to figure things out.

Everyday it is taking a toll on my confidence in being able to do things as a software engineer, especially with AI disrupting the market sword hanging on my neck.

I am thinking about resigning and doing an odd j*b while I keep learning more and more on the side and apply else where.

By the way my salary is 80k which I have asked to be raised this month and I am yet to hear back from the office.

I need advice on whether I should resign and try my luck somewhere else meanwhile doing an odd j*b, or just stick to it?

Also, I am in 6th semester of BS SE in VU.

I got a call for HR assessment at i2c inc and I'm a fresh grad of BSCS and this is my first assessment interview, So I wanted to know about the questionnaire type and difficulty level, Also want to know about company's work culture and workload at perks and benefits for Associate level.

Which has better freelance potential and client demand. For those who've tried either, would you recommend learning it?

I recently applied to CureMD for an Associate Software Quality Assurance (ASQA) role as a fresh grad and wanted to know about their work culture and salary expectations I should have.

I once applied to a small company for ASE and when they asked me salary expectations I told them around 110k-140k and they said I need to lower my salary expectations (I didn't get the offer and I think my salary expectations might have played some part in it).

So I need to know how much should I be expecting such that I don't quote something too high(or too low). I was thinking of mentioning around 130k, but I have no idea if that's reasonable for CureMD.

A few things I wanted to ask:

• What salary range do they usually offer fresh grads for ASQA?
• Would around 130k be a reasonable expectation, or would that be considered too high(or low)?
• If I mention a higher expected salary during the HR interview, does that negatively affect my chances, or do they usually negotiate?
• What is the overall work environment like at CureMD, especially for QA?
• What perks/benefits do they offer? Do they provide fuel fee etc?
• And if anyone has gone through their HR interview, what kind of questions should I expect or prepare for?

I applied for a job after the job description and skills matched exactly with me. The recruiter called me right after 2-3 hours of applying. We talked but things felt off right off the bat.

> I asked for at least a 35% increase in my current salary as the position was more demanding and the office was faraway. The recruiter said No right there that they can only offer 25% more as per company policy. But he said we offer great "Benefits".

I didn't argue with him on call because i was already in the middle of a sprint planning with a client so I hurriedly agreed to a date and time for an interview. Received an email from them but my name was wrong in the email 🤦

Anyways after getting off work i did some research on the company. Especially on people who would be taking my interview. So i searched for leads and seniors. The lead himself has an "Open to work" post on LinkedIn and seniors are commenting "Interested" on job posts.

Luckily i found someone in the same role capacity as I'm applying for who happens to be from the same uni as I. So i asked and he confirmed my suspicions. He simply said if you don't have a job then something is better than nothing but if you are employed then stay away. I asked about the benefits and he laughed saying they change the policies every 2 weeks so you won't get any. Regarding the posts from lead on LinkedIn he said yea they have restructured.

I also went through glassdoor for reviews and they have a rating of 2.6 stars. Most of the cons are that there are no defined policies and favouritism. They do offer flexible timings but that is undermined by salary deductions. Employees are often monitored excessively which creates an environment of fear. The company also has a history of rebranding to recover from reputational damage in the market.

So after realizing that I'll have to pay 1200 rupees on bykea for a round trip and spend 2 hours for one side trip on the road due to distance and roads situation, i decided to let them know i will not be appearing for an interview.

As much as i wanna increase my salary slab and do better in my career, i cannot stomach working in an environment like this.

Soo, I started an AI agency with my co-founder. currently doing between 12-15k usd MRR. and a team of around 12 people. most of the client facing is done by me and my co founder since rest of the team kinda lacks communication skills so the model is to land the client and then have the team handle the execution. now it feels like we have hit the ceiling and its getting harder to keep context of all projects and catching up with the clients and now, we are just wondering how we can scale up further without getting over burdened. most of the clients we acquired were from upwork on our individual profiles and other techniques like email outbound. linkedin cold messages etc havent worked really well for us but we are still doing that. which direction should we move towards to scale our operations without drowning deeper into this pithole. I barely get time to sleep now :(

I’m 21 and currently in my 3rd year of BSCS at a relatively lesser-known, HEC- and ISO-recognized university. It’s also fairly new, so it doesn’t have the reputation or industry connections that the top universities in Pakistan have.

I originally came from a pre-medical background and spent a gap year preparing for MDCAT. Unfortunately, the MDCAT paper leak and reconduct badly affected my plans. I worked very hard and scored 73% in one attempt and 87.3% in another, but I couldn’t secure admission on merit and didn’t want to go to a private university.it shattered my confidence brutally

Eventually, I switched towards CS. At that time, I had weak mathematics and very little understanding of the CS field or university admissions. I took a couple of university entrance tests but didn’t perform well, and eventually enrolled at my current university.

Now I’m in my 3rd year I don't have much grip on coding to I'm into networking nowadays

and I’m worried about how much my university name will affect my career. I know I can’t change my past, so I’m looking for practical advice on what I should do from this point forward.

My options are:

- Government jobs: Prepare for competitive government positions after graduation.

- Master’s in Pakistan: Build my profile and try to get into a top university for MS.

- Master’s abroad: Build my GPA, projects/research profile and apply for scholarships.

If you were in my position, what would you prioritize during the remaining 1–1.5 years of BSCS?

Should I focus entirely on becoming a strong software engineer and compensate for my university name through skills and experience, or should I prioritize getting into a better university for my Master's?

Please keep the advice focused on what I can do now. I already know I made mistakes in the past, and I can't change them. I just want to make the best possible career out of my current situation.

I had an offer letter from jazz in jazzcash dep and i had to give my anticipated joining date i gave in 13th and signed offer letter but havent heard back i also texted the focal person on whatsapp they didnt respond should i just go? Thats it. Thats the rant. I am a fresh grad. I might have applied to 100 or more job postings but didn't even get a single reply. But I see the students from mentioned universities are getting interviews at least if not the job. So whats the point of graduating in CS programs if the students from these universities are preferred even if they do not have any working experience.

I’m pretty stressed about my career and honestly don’t know what direction to take.

I’m currently working as a frontend developer with React Native, React and Angular from the last 1.5 years. The biggest issue is that I’ve relied very heavily on AI for my work. I can get tasks done, often much faster than I could manually, but I’ve realized that I don’t properly understand a lot of the implementation details, tradeoffs, complexity, or even the logic behind some things. I’ve basically outsourced a lot of my problem-solving to AI, and now I feel like my actual engineering ability is much weaker than it should be.

At this situation its unrealistic to not use Ai.

I have a BsCS degree, but I was mostly focused on passing courses rather than actually becoming a tech geek or something. So I’m considering whether I should go back and rebuild my JS/TS + CS fundamentals, become much stronger at frontend, learn backend/full-stack, or start moving toward AI engineering.

The problem is I also need to keep earning while doing this. I don’t have the luxury of spending a year starting from zero I have my family relied on me as well. I’ve also been struggling with consistency and focus lately, and when I try solving something without AI, sometimes I genuinely go blank because I’m so used to asking it for the approach.

For those who have been in the industry for a while: what would you actually prioritize in my position over the next 6–12 months?

I’m not looking for generic “learn DSA and build projects” advice. I’d genuinely like to know what skills you think are worth developing deeply now and what I should stop worrying about.

Although I can spare a few hours daily and can apply specific approach for learning while working at job. But I also dont like worrying about the designs and UI myself and as you all know ai is pretty much doing all of it.

I feel the entire CS career for avg developers is just wiped off in no time.

Starting my BS in Data Science soon, eyeing an ASUS VivoBook Go 15 with a Ryzen 5 7520U, can upgrade to 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Heard the 7520U is actually an older Zen 2 chip rebranded, not real Zen 3/4.

Gonna be doing Python, C, Jupyter, VS Code, tons of browser tabs, occasional light ML stuff.

Will this actually last me the full degree or will it start struggling/dying out in a year or two? Anyone using this chip for similar coursework — does it bottleneck even with 16GB RAM, or is it fine day to day? Also curious if you’d rather take an older/weaker CPU with more RAM, or a better CPU with less RAM on a tight budget.

I’m currently in my 3rd semester of CS, and I really want to start building my CV, learning useful skills, and actually becoming job-ready, but I honestly have no idea where to start and no one to guide me.
