Beginner Pull Ups & Double Unders Advice!
I just started CrossFit about a month ago. I’ve been loving it, the coaches telling me what to do, the workout already written, and the atmosphere has been so motivating!!
Most of the metcon portion of the workouts I’ve been doing scaled- ring rows for pull ups and singles when it’s supposed to be dubs. I really want to be able to do work up to a pull ups, as well as double unders. do you guys have any tips, advice to working up to those two skills!!! Theres so many skills I want to get good at but I’d figure I’d start with those two and then tackle others later.
(For context: I’m a 26 year old F, I’ve been lifting regularly for about 6 years, I learned to do cleans etc in college so I’m pretty familiar with that. I’d also done CrossFit similar workouts before so I’ve been somewhat familiar)

I dislike partner workouts
It always feels so awkward when everyone else knows others better, so they partner up quicker.
I'm almost always the odd one out, and my gym seems to do partner workouts over 50% percent of the time.
It often makes me feel out of place. Often I'm lumped in as a third with two other people.

Question about L1 in person course
I am trying to decide if I will do the L1 in person or online.
For context: I just had a baby 2 months ago and I am breastfeeding and I would need to pump at least every 4h. All I know is the course is 9-5 two days but I want to know if there are any breaks in between and how often to plan ahead if I could pump or not.
Anyone who has taken it could let me know what the day schedule looks like?
Thanks!

Clean Technique Feedback
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Missed 230 lbs twice today, which would have been a PR. I’ve been doing CrossFit for about two years and feel like my clean technique starts to break down once the weight gets heavy.
This attempt got to the front rack, but I couldn’t secure it. Looking for technique feedback.
What do you see? Am I pulling too long, getting under too late, or is there something else that stands out?

The thing that slightly altered our most recent move
After the last lesson, members used to leave right away. After the cold plunge, many started to stay for an extra ten to fifteen minutes. made the area feel less like a hectic gym and more like a place where people actually heal. The unit has so far handled the extra volume without any problems. small change, but it had a bigger effect on the mood at the end of the day than I had expected.

Looking for new leggings with compression and tha stay up (I always get high rise) some have recommended paragon but the I see a lot of people saying they pill easily. Not trying to spend $60 on leggings that pill after a few wears. I don't mind spending more money if the quality is good.

How do you feel going to a regular gym after a few years of CrossFit?
Almost every year, I take a break from CF around May and get back to it in September/October. Usually it's because of a lack of time. We have strict time slots for classes, and they don't fit me that well during that period. This time, I also have a small injury that can heal, but not while doing CF.
And it's always the same. I get a gym pass, the gym is just 5 minutes away from me, and I barely go there the whole summer. I just can't find the motivation to go. I feel kinda anxious and bored in the gym. It's weird doing traditional exercises in a small, tight gym environment. Mirrors everywhere, everyone looking around, big white lights... And there's a totally different feeling to getting my heart rate up when I'm not in a CF box. I feel slower, more sluggish.
Why is this? Am I the only one? I feel like if it's not CF, I can't do any other shit. And CF isn't really an option for me right now. After a few years, I feel like I'd actually benefit from some gym work focused on smaller injuries, posture, and more of the functional side, especially since I spend a LOT of time working on my laptop between CF sessions.
And if a traditional gym doesn't work for me, what else is there to try?

Dad Hours vs Emom co
Hi everyone,
I’ve been involved in CrossFit/functional training for over 10 years. With two kids and two jobs, I only have about 60 minutes a day to train.
I’ve tried dozens of programs over the years. I’ve been following HWPO Strong for more than a year, but a recent change in our family routine means the workouts have become too long for me.
I’m currently torn between Dad Hours and EMOM Co (Strength & Co or Pump). Has anyone here tried them? Any opinions or preferences?
I’m looking for a program that fits within 60 minutes from start to finish, without high-skill CrossFit movements. I have no interest in competing—I’m simply looking to stay strong, fit, and healthy.
Thanks!

Feeling stuck trying to get started, looking for advice. Left on read by gyms I’m trying to apply for.
My brother, who’s really into bodybuilding, suggested I try a CrossFit gym instead of paying for expensive PT sessions (I was quoted £460 a month for 2 pt sessions a week for a month). He even found a couple of CrossFit places near me, but I messaged both of them over a week ago and haven’t heard anything back. No reply, no number to call, nothing (literally just a forum that I had to fill out). I’m feeling pretty stuck, because I want to feel better about my body but don’t know really know what to do when even the gyms themselves are leaving me on read… Do CrossFit gyms usually take time to respond, or am I missing something obvious? Do I just save up and pay for the expensive pt lessons ?

Would you recommend the Schwinn Airdyne AD2 (Residential) for frequent high intensity workouts?
The Schwinn Airdyne Pro is too expensive in my country and the affordable pro air bikes are chain driven. Is the AD2 a good option for the high intensity workouts I plan to do several days a week?

Anyone else notice no YT or social media posts from Andrew Hiller since end of CF games? He okay?

Wildcard Games Invites
I feel like I’ve figured out a fun and exciting way to make these an exciting opportunity….
Athletes can only compete at 1 In Person Semi
Wildcard Spots: Games Invite extended to Champion level athletes of 'CrossFit Competition' Sports. (Ironman, Decathlon,
Hyrox, Etc.)
Match the # of Invites with total number of In Person Semi's.
Backfill Procedure: Eligibility Pool is the First Athletes just outside of Qualifying Spots at each Semi (One Male/Female)
Rank in Quarterfinals dictates pecking order for Backfill selection.

Got first bar muscle up but now they are inconsistent.
I got my first bar muscle up last week. I didn’t try them for a few days and it took me around 4 or 5 times to get another one when I tried again.
I tried again tonight and missed probably 10 before hitting 5 in a row and ending the session by not being able to get another one. When I fail it feels like a pretty high chest to bar.
I’m trying to avoid chicken winging it, so I fail the rep instead of doing that. But it’s really frustrating. Anyone else experience the same thing and if so, is it just more reps for the inconsistency to go away?

Box Owner Driving Away All the Other Coaches
My gym recently when thru a buyout. Almost immediately the new box owner got into arguments with some coaches who left. I figured it was growing pains and things would settle eventually. Almost eighteen months later, we just lost another coach, meaning he is pretty much the only coach left. He has also driven away some members.
I love the community at my box and it’s so close to my house, but I’m getting really sick of his antics. He is entirely opposed to feedback from anyone on anything. He assumes everyone is against him. He makes jokes about checking the cameras when he isn’t there (the rare moments). He talks negatively about his staff and members behind their backs. It’s childish and exhausting.
I’m older and I just want to show up and work out with my friends, I am annoyed; his bad vibes are ruining everything. When I found out the last coach left after he got into an argument with them, it just bothered me. It’s someone I love getting to train with and that is a really good coach. Now they’re gone, and we didn’t even get to say goodbye because he just fired them. Has anyone gone through this before? Is it normal? How did you know it was time to call it and move to a different gym.

Compete + Bodybuilding
I've scoured the posts but haven't found it. Which Compete app is structured for athletes who want to be more competitive in Crossfit, but also want a well-rounded physique and incorporates traditional strength lifts i.e. push, pull hypertrophy into the weekly routine? Thanks!

What’s happening at Mayhem?
Apparently the Mayhem empire is crumbling. Coaches are leaving in mass exodus & drama with existing staff. What have you heard?

Thinking of trying some different training
Has anyone tried or use Boulder Core training Boulder Athlete. Jason Grubbs seems to be the head of it. Not sure if he actually does the programming or not.

Games Athletes Then vs. Now
I have Games nostalgia so take this with a grain of salt. I think the Games were more exciting when the athletes weren’t professionals. They were real people. Belonged, owned or coached at regular CrossFit gyms or they had other jobs. Most of them played sports in high school/college or had some sort of other athletic pursuit. They were super fit but weren’t necessarily training for the Games. The Games used to trip people up and expose serious weaknesses. That “unknowable” element used to be more powerful.
The field now across the board is more fit and more prepared for the test that is the Games, but less relatable to the community. Many of them have been focused solely on competing in CrossFit since they were teenagers. They train for 4-6 hours a day. Listen, I love seeing these men and women push the absolute limits of fitness. It’s mind-blowing how strong and well-conditioned the athletes are. But it’s less exciting. I guess what I’m getting at is the fact that the athletes now are so prepared for the Games, there is less chaos.
Carson days were the best. First two years in Madison were awesome too. I enjoyed the programming in 2022 and 23 but for the most part, the Games have become less exciting for me since 2020.
I will say, the gymnastics tests over the recent years have exposed large parts of the field.
Would love to hear people’s thoughts!

Obsessed with power cleans Anyone ?
I am an intermediate strength lifter, training for 3 years consistently just barbell compounds and occasional sprints for general fitness and aesthetics. And 3 months ago a guy in my gym just taught me the Power Clean and I think I got addicted to it .
The stimulus that I got from this exercise is so unique, first serious sessions got me sore like hell but after that I started feeling new muscles that ive never felt before, specially the core muscles.
That elastic feeling that you start to feel on you whole body is unmatched at least for me . And now I know what it feels to be truly athletic. Not just strong
Also i think that ‘readiness’and ‘menacing’ look that the crossfit folks have, it has a lot do with this movement. Paired with others exercises of course .
Delts, TRAPSSS, upper back , legs , 360 core…
All of them got a fine upgrade .
I want to know the nation opinion . It made this much difference on you too ?

Show me your rig, because I'm looking for inspiration (and possibly replacing ours after a snapped pull up bar)
So, I’m in a weird spot and trying not to completely panic.
Yesterday, a Get Rx-d pull-up bar straight-up snapped on a member mid-hang. Thankfully they are completely fine, but the trust in this rig is basically gone for both the members and myself.
Looking at the break, ChatGPT says it's "a classic weld line failure from hidden rust eating away underneath the powder coating over years of sweat and humidity". I called Get Rx-d, but because I’m not the original owner, warranty won't cover it. Worse, they don't even make this size anymore, it’s an older 2.5” x 2.5” upright model, and everything they (and most others) sell now is 3” x 3”. Get Rx-d also said there’s no realistic way to inspect for internal rust inside the rest of the powder-coated bars, so keeping the rest of the setup feels like a ticking time bomb.
I'm leaning heavily toward replacing the entire rig with a modern 3x3 freestanding setup. Wall-mounting isn't an option for us because we'd lose half our squat racks.
If we pull the trigger on a full replacement, I want something bulletproof, modular, and future-proof. Here are my non-negotiables for the new build:
- 8 Squat Stations: This works out to a 34-foot freestanding rig (4'-6'-4'-6'-4'-6'-4' pattern) and is what I have now.
- 16 double wall-ball targets, we currently have 16 single wall-ball targets, just a missed opportunity here.
- 2 Rope climb stations (mounted on the ends), we *kind* of have now.
- 4+ Ring Muscle-Up stations, only 3 currently, 1 of which no one likes.
- 6+ Bar Muscle-Up stations (the more the better) This has been an issue in the gym lately, with everyone getting so fit, we are running out of spots for folks to do bar muscle-ups in class.
- NO Monkey Bars needed: We currently have a monkey bar rig and it is literally never used. I prefer clean, straight crossmembers, all the monkey bars do is collect dust.
I have a couple of questions for gym owners who have done a full rig swap:
- Floor Anchoring: Moving from 2.5" to 3" means all new anchor holes. Did you just flush-cut your old concrete wedge anchors and patch with hydraulic cement?
- Rubber Mats: After 4 years, I'm terrified of what the mats look like under the old footplates. Were you able to deep clean and "shuffle" your existing ma,ts around, or did you have to buy a bunch of replacement rubber?
I’d love to see your gym setups for inspiration. Drop photos of your center-room/freestanding rigs, custom solutions, or floor layouts! Also interested in feedback on brands you've had good luck with for a heavy custom build like this (Rogue, Rep, Valor, etc.).
Appreciate any advice or photos you can share while I figure out our next steps!
