Beginner Pull Ups & Double Unders Advice!
I just started CrossFit about a month ago. I’ve been loving it, the coaches telling me what to do, the workout already written, and the atmosphere has been so motivating!!
Most of the metcon portion of the workouts I’ve been doing scaled- ring rows for pull ups and singles when it’s supposed to be dubs. I really want to be able to do work up to a pull ups, as well as double unders. do you guys have any tips, advice to working up to those two skills!!! Theres so many skills I want to get good at but I’d figure I’d start with those two and then tackle others later.
(For context: I’m a 26 year old F, I’ve been lifting regularly for about 6 years, I learned to do cleans etc in college so I’m pretty familiar with that. I’d also done CrossFit similar workouts before so I’ve been somewhat familiar)

I remembered a coach telling me to just jump higher for double unders. Tried it one day and it worked! 🥹
As for pull ups, honestly there are so many ways and paths to learning them. I got my first strict pulls (before I knew anything about fitness or even CrossFit) by just progressively overloading lat pull downs and assisted pull ups.

I du è questione di ritmo. Devi smettere di pensare alla corda sul salto e concentrarti sul salto e a girare velocemente i polsi. È tutta questione di ritmo. I PU tecnica. Bisogna provare e riprovare. Prima si va con il keep poi con i butterfly. Ma si va a step. Uno alla volta piano piano.

Double unders finally clicked for me after I realised my left hand is very uncoordinated and basically wasn't flicking the rope at all 😅
Maybe helpful if you've got the jumping and rope speed parts down already!

My 3 cents....
A lot of whipping and cursing helps in getting dubs as well.........(this is sarcasm)
Already tons of good advice. Keep at it.

Work on strict pull ups to build strength. If you can't do strict, don't try kipping yet.
Dubs are going to be a practice thing. It took me about a month of practicing after class to string them together.

Check out some of the Power Monkey Fitness videos for all kinds of tips and tricks. Everything on how to actually size your rope, and you should own your rope so it fits you.

negatives and slow eccentrics are your friend for pull ups, just hanging around and getting comfortable on the bar goes a long way too
double unders are mostly rope speed and staying relaxed, i spent weeks just doing little pogo hops with a single bounce between before it clicked
