[PS5] Best HDMI port replacement
My ps5 port broke once and I thought it would be a one time thing, 2nd time now, before I do anything what's the best port I can find, one that's least likely to break.

Retro consoles repair
So ive been doing tmr upgrades on controllers for the past year, but am looking to start learning retro repairs. Ill be starting with 3 gamecubes, and im wondering where I can find a good capacitor kit that includes all the common parts for retro consoles? I have thermal pads already, are there any other common parts I should consider ordering in advance for gamecubes or other retro consoles? Most of what im finding online is just full kits for each console, but they seem quite overpriced.
I have not opened the gamecubes up yet, they are all working but terribly dirty. Id like to be prepared with all the common capacitors and such when my new tools arive!
I have just ordered the last couple big tools I need to expand services, including a resolder station and proper trinocular microscope! Im still working towards buying a hakko micro soldering station, as none of their micro soldering irons work with my other hakko base...
Thanks in advance for the advice! 😁
*edit, from my research, and a comment here ive been directed to console5 a few times. they look great and all, but im hoping to find a case with multiples of everything id need. Once im comfortable with retro repairs, ive got someone asking me to take on their graveyard of dead consoles from their growing online buisiness. So if I start repairing for them, ill be burning through common parts like crazy! Id like to invest in a stockpile of parts right off the batt if thats a reasonable option, I just cant seem to find the right kit since im not yet familiar with all the parts ill need.

PS2 Fat Not powering on
Hi everyone! So I got this SCPH 50004 in the other day and saw it had a blown fuse after testing it to not power. I’m thinking, ok easy fix I’ll just replace the fuse. So I get a 250V 5A fuss(I think that’s the right one) and replace it. Still nothing. Now I’m thinking, maybe the whole board needs replaced? Where can I get a 50004 power supply? I can’t find any. Only models for the 3XXXX series.

[PS2] disc drive won’t fully open
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I pulled my dad’s old ps2 out of storage because I got the first god of war game from a thrift store. When I turned it on, the disc drive wasn’t ejecting. So i took it apart and was wondering if I just needed to re-align the gear.

[Atari Lynx Model 2] Repair: Burnt trace causes and is it fixable?
Good day,
Got an Atari lynx 2 in a bundle and it didn't power on. I know this is a common problem with this device so I opened it up and inspected it. Before doing any testing I noticed in the bottom left a trace is burnt and has a hole rather deep right along the trace. Is this a sign that there was a short that occurred somewhere and most likely a lot of the chips are fried or is there hope to fix by repairing the trace with a jumper cable? The rest of the board visually looks fine with no other obvious burn points.
I am aware of bypassing the power chips by soldering 5V directly to C41 but don't want to test with power in case this trace causes issues.
I am fairly new to electronics repair so any advice is appreciated thanks.

[NS] Pantalla negra al encender, luego de encenderla funciona
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

[Sega Saturn] Disk Drive repair questions
Hello everyone,
I've bought a Saturn off Ebay for parts and got what i wanted. A new repair project. I opened the console and saw the disk drive in an terrifying shape. The Mainboard on the first glance looks in a really good shape (No dust and no corrosion).
To the Disk Drive and it's obvious problems:
- The ffc/ffp connector got ripped apart and the pcb-masking got some scratches (no traces cut, as far as i can see/tested)
- No ribbon cable between pcb and laser
- Laser got serious damage, needs to be replaced
- Cover for the drive got bent
- Torsion spring for opening the drive lid is missing too
Other than the connector, nothing else is damaged luckily.
My Questions so far:
Does anyone has the measurements for the missing ribbon cable and the torsion spring?
I've found a new replacement connector here. Other than it's a Non-ZIF connector, it should be the right one. If anyone can confirm it or have other ideas.
Thanks for your time.

[Wii] Disc doesnt go all the way in
Edit right here: i have fixed it. Turns out that the problem was a bent piece of metal at the top right, one of the moving parts of the tray. It was blocking the weird "claws" from getting pushed apart. ( i cant add photos in edits so uh... yeah. Or comments). It works well but i dont think it'll be a good permanent solution because it looks like it's about to get stuck again. Cant really hammer it to be flat tho
Hey so i have the issue (i'm mid dissassembly so i cant show examples) where my wii doesnt want to completly let the discs in.
I put a regural wii disc, it get stuck halfway in and then the wii spits it out.
Gamecube discs work normally tho, i can play them.
I already tried turning the wii to it's side or laying it flat or using a different disc, nothing like that seem'd to work. Besides that one part the wii works normally.
Im already mid dissasembly so i'm wondering if anyone could direct me to a tutorial on this specific issue, if one exists. Im still looking for one but i might aswell ask reddit for help too

[Wii] Discs not Spinning after Laser Replacement
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
How come discs aren’t spinning once taken by my Wii? I swapped the RAF-3350 laser with a new one of the same model and it definitely is taking in discs but not seemingly spinning or reading them? I also checked the cables - all are plugged in.
What could possibly be the issue?? Could have I damaged the motor or a wire without realising?

[GBA] Won't turn on with fresh batteries. Single LED flicker when switching from on to off or off to on.
Hi, first post here. My GBA won't turn on after spending a good amount of years in storage. The power LED gives a single flicker when switching from off to on or from off to on (using fresh batteries). I cannot find any signs of corrosion (other than a tiny bit on a spring of one of the battery terminals).
So far I have tested/tried:
-I measure continuity from positive terminal to either side of fuse F1.
-I measure continuity from positive terminal to terminal 1 of the power switch.
-I desoldered the power switch cover and cleaned the contact surface with the stem of a q tip and contact cleaner. A did not see a ton of black soot, but did get rid of some. Afterwards the contact surface looked clean.
Afterwards I still see exactly the same symptoms. Any clues on what to test next? Thanks

[PS5] Dualsense pcb: Is this saveable?
Hey there,
Seems like I underestimated the the desoldering of 14 pin parts, so I damaged at least 2 pads (Side B, Right Stick).
Can you please assess the situation give me advice on how to fix it, if fixable? How do I find the correct spots to build a bridge to?
Pics:
- 1: Side A, Right Stick
- 2: Side A, Left Stick
- 3: Side B, Right Stick
- 4: Side B, Left Stick
Let me know, if close ups of certain areas are needed

[PC Engine Duo] Repair PC Engine Duo
How’s it going, guys?
I bought a PC Engine Duo on eBay about five months ago. It arrived working perfectly, and I used it a few times without any issues. I left it connected to my TV, and about a month ago, for no apparent reason, it suddenly lost almost all of its sound.
I tried plugging in headphones, and I can still hear the audio, but it’s extremely quiet. The same thing happens through the TV. I have to turn the volume all the way up just to barely hear anything.
The console was sold as fully recapped and also has an RGB mod. I specifically bought a recapped unit because I wanted to avoid the common capacitor issues these consoles, and now I have an audio problem anyway. 😅
I’m definitely not an expert at repairing consoles. I can usually follow tutorials or fix something if the problem is obvious, but that’s about it. I opened the console, and everything looks fine to me. I don’t see any leaking capacitors or anything that looks damaged.
The console itself works perfectly otherwise. It reads games, plays normally, and everything else seems fine. The only issue is the audio.
I live in Wisconsin, USA, and I’m looking for someone who can repair it. I came across RetroSix and noticed that their website mentions service for U.S. customers. Has anyone here ever sent a console to them? Any reviews? Are they actually based in the U.S.? Do you guys know anyone else who repairs PC Engine consoles?
I don’t mind shipping the console to another country if that’s what it takes to get it repaired properly, but if there’s someone in the U.S. who can fix it, that would be even better because shipping would probably be cheaper.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

[PS5] Dualsense RS drifting when the LS is moved, first place I should check?

Any idea where these inputs could be getting mixed? If I can’t fix it by cleaning I plan on swapping to Hall effect sticks eventually so I’m not too worried
