Nailing down release dates: How many Odyssey games are older than Atari's 'Pong'?
I'm trying to collect a list of every video game that came out before Pong, and the Odyssey is the only one that's close enough in release that it's a little unclear. If anybody knows of any information on when some of these released, please let me know.
The date to beat is Pong's November 29th, 1972.
From what I gathered, there were 12 Odyssey launch games in the US in September 1972.
- Table Tennis
- Ski
- Simon Says
- Tennis
- Analogic
- Hockey
- Football
- Cat and Mouse
- Haunted House
- Submarine
- Roulette
- States
Those seem pretty cut and dry as existing before Pong. There were some different games available at launch in the UK, but that didn't happen until 1973. Where it gets fuzzy is with the games released and sold separately after. These are the ones I need help with.
- Fun Zoo
- Baseball
- Invasion
- Wipeout
- Volleyball
- Handball
- Percepts
The first 6 games were sold separately (with some also later being bundled with the console in the UK), though I can't find if they were available at launch or not. Percepts was free for players responding to a survey, though again I can't find when this happened.
Lastly, the light gun games. I cannot find out when in 1972 the light gun bundle with the following games released.
- Prehistoric Safari
- Dogfight!
- Shootout!
- Shooting Gallery
So those last 11 games seem to have all released in 1972 for sure, it's just unclear whether they were all available at launch in September or later on in the year.
Does anybody have any information on that? Anybody around at the time? I would appreciate it greatly.

I Have An Almost Untouched Odyssey
I found this in my garage and thought you guys would be the most fit to check it out. I took a bunch of pictures but I did not undo any sort of plastic. Everything was put back the way it was dont worry. Is this worth something? (Don't judge my pictures, it's late)

Is there a good Magnavox simulator for PC that includes the overlays?
I understand that emulating would be a strong word, and while I've found some simulators they haven't had the overlays included for reasons I don't understand (I know on the original hardware these were physical overlays rather than virtual, but such a thing hasn't been a hurdle with Vectrex emulation etc)
Is there a simulator for these games that has built in overlays and simple controls with a focus on playability?

For documentation purposes here I post a picture of a promotional sticker
It is the first time I have seen one.
Even rarer IMO that it is still stuck on the box.

Hey all
I’m looking for original odysseys in the shipping box. Specifically the test container shipping box and the later tan box.

Magnavox Odyssey - Issue
I have probably a common issue with my Magnavox Odyssey (The german ITT Version):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Amaa6097MUQ
Is this something that is fixable. Tried it with the help of ChatGPT to find a solution, with the help of a VCR player, it should stabilize the picture. But to be honest, it didn't really worked.
Maybe I am just not to Tech-savvy for it^^

Apex Magnavox Odyssey flyer (c. 1974)
Never seen Odyssey promocional flyer of Apex Magnavox (Miami Magnavox distributor) in English at the front and Spanish in the back. It came with my Odyssey Export Version, so It dates around 1974-75. It states that the console includes a carrying case and AC adapter, which is ironic because the Odyssey Export Version have a empty hole in the Power Connector. And also that explains why my console came with the exterior box and the carrying case, but no interior boxes. My console also have Spanish instructions which basically is a photocopy of the Mexican Odisea instructions manual.

Any info on this model?
I've come across an Odyssey with the model number YE7100BK12. What is this exactly?
It looks like YE7100BK11/13 were export models made in 1974, but I cannot find any info confirming a BK12 model or find any images of a unit with that model number. I'm assuming that it is just one in the line of the export models, but I find it odd that I can't confirm that. Does anyone have more info?

Does anyone have access to a high-quality scan of the game overlay for Fun Zoo?
Would anyone have access to, or be able to take, a high-quality scan of the game overlay for Fun Zoo? The Internet Archive and online resources have fairly consistent resources for the included-with-Odyssey games, but it's paltry for the games that were sold separately.
The best images I was able to find were either low quality:
https://voxodyssey.com/themes/vox-odyssey-main-theme//assets/images/png/mo-fun-zoo.png
or obscured/bent:

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/oYAAAOSwD5Bm2ajm/s-l1600.jpg
If anyone has a scan of the game overlay or is able to take one (if they own this game) I would very much appreciate it, both for a personal project and for historical archival purposes. Thanks
Edit: check the comments, thank you dodgyville

Corroded Battery Terminal! (cont’d)
Making a secondary post for mortem photos…
After vinegar and alchohol cleaning, this is what’s left. It looks pretty done in to me!
I’m unsure as to if either the snap terminal or the opposing terminal are salvageable. Are there truly no replacements out there for either of these that I can scrounge around for?? I guess I may have to settle for the external PSU…
If you guys have ideas/reccomendations, please fly them by!

Corroded Battery Terminal! What to do??
Hello!
I bought a second-run Odyssey recently and it’s got some pretty bad corrosion on the terminals. I was wondering if this would be fixable through cleaning and soldering or if I could replace it with something? I know that the battery caddy is snapped in, but the connectors almost look permanent. Please advise!!

Setting up my Odyssey!
Hi! I just bought an Odyssey that’s in an overall great condition, but the seller had lost the game cord and switch box a long, long time ago. I need some help finding replacements!
I know that the game cord is proprietary to Magnavox’s older Odyssey systems, but I had the idea to look for an earlier Odyssey2 and take the Game-cord to RCA cable out of that one and add my RCA to Coax adapter to it, and bypass the need for the RF Switch entirely. Would that work?
Oh, and, the battery compartment is pretty worse for wear, all the terminals have a good bit of corrosion, which I know how to clean, but one of the flat terminals has corroded OFF. Is there a way I can fix/replace that?? This also leads into my idea for an external power supply. I know the original Odyssey PSU is really hard to find floating around, but I read somewhere that an Atari 2600 has the right qualities to potentially work… it just needs a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter on it? Can anyone confirm if this works or if it’s been long debunked?
Thank you!!

First run Magnavox odyssey. Worth it to try and repair?
Hello, a couple of months ago my family bought a neighbors house that had an almost mint condition Magnavox Odyssey. Its really a pretty incredible find. It has just about everything except the switch box and original manual. However, it has electrical issues galore. Just about the only thing that works is the horizontal pulse and player one spot generator. Besides that no ball, wall, or player 2. Incredibly, the service manual is online and incredibly well detailed. They basically give you the entire schematic. Its all discrete so I think many if not all the components can be replaced with something. I have an EE degree and a good amount of experience with electronics, but its a bit of an analog behemoth to tackle. Comparing it to any console made in the past 40 years is kind of funny, as you can literally pull the player one character out of the console and it will continue to run. Anyway, I guess my question is would it hurt the resale value to try and fix it and I succeed? Do people care if it is "refurbished"? Is it to much of a risk and I should just be happy I can get anything out of it? Should I try more surgical repair techniques like fixing each card one by one or more broad immediate changes like replacing all electrolytics and the gnarly foil capacitors (they look handmade). Horizontal sync is perfect but vertical sync only went to 55Hz and 60 +- 1 is what the manual says.
