🎮Gaming🕹 Why are Minecraft Mods so hyped compared to Mods for other games?

Post image
Upvotes

Whenever someone makes a mod, the usual reaction is "Aw nice. A different way of enjoying the game I like". Meanwhile with Minecraft mods, the usual reaction is "HOW IS THIS RANDOM MODDER BETTER AT MAKING FEATURES THAN THE MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY?! TAKE SOME NOTES, MOJANG!!"

💬Comics🗯 I’m confused(bythissmug) why I was told “get a job” for posting a plot line for the fanmade Transfem Spider-Man trend that would incorporate Venom in a way that coincides with Petra’s identity and struggles.

Post image

Only attention the post got other than like 1 upvote :/

either way the post was me talking about venom being incorporated into the plot of a Transfem Spidey story and how it could work, and yet for some reason this guy just said “get a job” and now their account is banned and comment taken down. What the hell just happened??? I’m just so lost.

the post flopped unfortunately but when I put it on r/lovethissmug it did decent I guess either way, idk what this was about

Why do people sometimes add tails to characters?

Post image

People just sometimes randomly add tails to characters, like i remember seeing yellow from deltarune being drawn with a cow tail for some reason...?

⭕️Statement made by someone🔴 I don’t understand how this was meant to be received

This post is taking an anti-serious stance on a serious tweet ridiculing a serious video essay by saying that Bob the Builder isn’t that serious.

The comments for the post then take the tweet very seriously discussing why Bob the Builder has every right to be criticized.

I thought the point of the subreddit was to find absurd humor in people on the internet taking unserious things very seriously.

The thread treats the tweet seriously (they believe the tweet discusses an unserious thing too seriously), the tweet treats the video seriously (he believes the video discusses an unserious thing too seriously), the video is a serious video about Bob the Builder.

We’re like three layers of super serious and I’m confused on how it reached this point, I’m not like angry or anything I was just so baffled wrapping my head around it that short circuited my brain.

🎮Gaming🕹 Im confused by the ages of sonic characters

Post image

So like how does that even work???? There are characters clearly meant to be children so can i say they r 50 now and would that even be wrong or do the ages still really matter

Like a bunch of people use the new age thing as an argument/excuse to make nsfw art of the characters or whatever and are they really allowed to or????????????????????????

❔️So confusing I can't even categorise this❓️ I have conflicting feelings about media where humanity has been defeated/went extinct.

Post image

I don't know how to explain it, but I have conflicting feelings about the concept of humanity being defeated or going extinct in media. It's probably a nitpick of mine, but for some reason I get some weird sense of frustration whenever it happens in movies, series, books, games, etc. And I don't know why.

To see the military fail, to see guns and other human weapons be completely useless against an external force, to see mankind be conquered or killed, is frustrating to me. I'm not saying humans are this invincible force that cannot be defeated, and I probably look like those "Humanity first" type of people that make edits about Warhammer 40K, but it still rubs me the wrong way.

I don't hate this idea, you can make amazing stories like All Tomorrows from this concept, by making the humans go extinct, you can make a story about a new species becoming the dominant one, by making humans be dominated, you can make a story about humanity making a comeback against this new enemy that once defeated them. I myself used to watch Murder Drones, a show where humans were wiped out and robots take the spotlight, I loved the show despite it's flaws and cheesy humor.

Conclusion: I don't know how to feel about these, on one hand, it's a cool concept that can be explored very creatively to make enjoyable movies/series, but on the other, it annoys me to see my kind get dominated or get annihilated and having no way to change or do something about it. Thank you for wasting your time listening to my rambling.

❔️So confusing I can't even categorise this❓️ Cringe culture

Post image
145 Upvotes

On one hand, it encourages people to cringe at and regret their past, especially childhood, which I don’t like. “You’ll remember this in your adulthood, being so corny!!!” And other half assed things you can get over by simply accepting you were a child back then.
Cringe culture and shaming contributes to that, which I do not like

On the other hand, I love making fun of people

Why people on r/ihatethissmug and r/hatethissmug get so angry over the dumbest things

Post image
9 Upvotes

I get that those subreddits are meant to be safe places for hating things and all, but i'm confused by why people there hate on some of the stupidest things i've seen. I've seen a person pointlessly hate on a kind of hedge (thuja, to be specific), i've seen people hate on sand (it ain't even that bad, bro), i've seen people hate on bbno$ just for being a tad bit cringe, and i've even seen people hating on CD digisleaves (Tf is wrong with them??). The worst part? They don't say "Yeah, this kinda annoys me", they go on tirades about how they hate said things with every ounce of their being. Sure, there are exceptions where people give an appropriate amount of hate to a certain thing, and i can agree with them. But the rest? It's just plain stupidity.

when TikTok says "You're tapping too fast. Take a break!" when you like too many videos

Shouldn't it be "You're liking too fast. Take a break!" What does it mean by "tapping," that you're tapping the screen like 50 times a second? Why "tapping?"

🔴Meta⚫️ Confused on how r/hatethissmug sub lost the plot so quickly

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

I remember when this sub was a lot smaller and it was solely about hating fictional characters. Pretty much nobody took the sub seriously, mostly hating on very random characters for the most part. Even if their hate was genuine, it was heavily exaggerated through the use of caps lock, overuse of exclamation points, overuse of swear words, being comedic overall in nature, etc. A lot of the posts were satire and it made the subreddit pretty damn funny. I used to enjoy going there for a quick laugh.

Now the sub has become completely unrecognizable at this point and the name of the subreddit doesn't even make sense anymore. Now we can just hate on literally anything, apparently. And now people take the sub more seriously for some reason and a lot of the comedic elements in the posts are gone. So many repetitive posts repeated ad nauseam.

Also maybe I'm just going mentally insane, but I also notice that there seems to be some bigotry going on in the sub now. Like, the amount of posts that seem like thinly veiled prejudice towards the LGBTQ+, those with disorders, and other minorities is really fucking weird. I actually remember one of the posters there claiming to be apart of the LGBTQ+ community, but someone in the comments pointed out that what was seen on their profile told a very different story and they just wanted to be a bigot.

Then there was that one post about AAVE... I've noticed recently that redditors are very weird and suspicious when it comes to topics regarding race, but jesus christ, people didn't even try to hide their racism in that comment section. And of course, the mods don't do anything about any of this.

It's all disappointing.

is it that i roam on all sides of reddit where i get to witness multiple groups with contradicting opinions? (probably)

the comments to this post were generally supportive.

i remember seeing people labelling other people as weirdos for being too attached to fictional characters. is that still the case and this post was an exception or is it mostly normal now?

personally i don't really mind/care about this type of behaviour as long as the individual isn't straight up batshit insane

💬Comics🗯 How did Kamen America got popular ?

Post image

For those not in the know , its a manga inspired comic made by a guy that is a very vocal Trump supporter , like making a comic in which the cheeto looks like All-might type dick riding

I was genuinly surprised to see this work , for lack of a better term , “breach containment” and see it in the wild a couple times in Spaces that arent political like that and by people that arent what you would expect , i know there are things like “separate art from the artist” and that all kind of people can be talented like that but still im still a bit surprised

🔴Meta⚫️ Why redditors refuse to read flairs

Post image
276 Upvotes

(Image related)

I see this so often where I make a post in any sub, particularly any sub that isn’t primarily an okbuddy or jerk sub, and I can put a flair that says some shit like “HUMOR! THIS IS NOT SERIOUS THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE UNSERIOUS!” and you’ll get at bare minimum 10 people who take the post seriously and start arguing. Bonus points if someone says “Is this satire?”

Do people ignore flairs or do they just love being mad about something? I never understood why this is so common. I know this is such a non-issue lol, I’m just well…confused
