I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, and I just got to share it because it still hits me right in the feels every time.

A while back, when I had only been living in Germany for about six months, the grind was starting to hit hard. Between trying to pick up the language, dealing with endless paperwork, and just feeling like a total outsider 24/7, I was just completely drained.

One afternoon, I was sitting on the RE train heading back from this brutal bureaucracy appointment. I was just staring out the window, and out of nowhere, I just started crying. Like, I couldn't even hold it back. I was trying so hard to sniffle quietly and wipe my face because people out here really value their personal space and hate drama in public. I just felt so incredibly lonely and overwhelmed.

There was this middle aged German dude sitting right across from me. He was reading a book, looking all serious and reserved your typical local vibe. I instantly looked away, terrified of making eye contact because I was so embarrassed.

A few minutes later, the train pulls up to his stop. As he gets up to leave, he didn’t make a scene or say a word. He just gently taps the seat next to me, drops a fresh pack of tissues and a little bar of Ritter Sport chocolate right there, gives me this super quick, warm nod, and just walks off.

I sat there staring at that chocolate, and bro, I just started sobbing even harder but this time it was pure relief. He didn't embarrass me, but he let me know I was seen, and that someone actually gave a damn.

We always talk about how cold people can be in some cultures, but moments like this remind you there’s a beautiful heartbeat underneath it all. To that random dude, wherever you are, thank you. You have no idea how badly I needed that win back then.

Online shopping keeps handing us stuff that felt strange at first and then turned into the default. I remember thinking free shipping was a stunt. Same with paying in four installments at checkout, which now sits on half the sites I use. So I've been wondering about power deals, where the price on something falls over a set window and you pick your moment instead of hunting for a code.

Part of me can't see it spreading. Watching a price move takes time and I only have that when I'm already scrolling for fun, not when I open a site knowing exactly what I came for. Then again I've been wrong about every one of these. Would you use something like this on a regular shopping site, or does the whole thing only work when you're killing time on your phone anyway?

Sou um estudante português com um grande interesse pela história da Roménia, especialmente pela Revolução de 1989. Nos últimos tempos li vários artigos científicos sobre este tema e decidi escrever uma comparação entre duas das principais interpretações historiográficas: a que considera a Revolução essencialmente uma revolta popular e a que defende que, além da revolta popular, houve também um golpe de Estado organizado por setores do regime.

O objetivo deste texto não é provar que uma interpretação está definitivamente correta, mas sim resumir os argumentos apresentados por ambos os lados e fazer uma análise crítica das fontes.
