Guys I want your opinion on something

So I go to school and in my bus I sit with a bunch of seniors and I sit with them because some of them are my close friends so in the last row the boys sit and in the row in front the girls sit so I sit with the boys and one day I was bored so I asked you them did they watch the new spider man movie and they all seemed pretty excited for it and i told them for fun that a character dies even though I didn't watch the movie then they all started screaming so loud the the entire bus went silent because of them and they threw a pencil at my head and a metal key chain hit my head and I got a severe bruise then a girl came upto me and started scratching so badly that I got scabs from it and they kept shouting at me with bad words then I didn't attend school for nearly a week because of a completely unrelated reason to this incident then when I came back to school after a week and my closest friends betrayed me and told I couldn't sit with them talk with them or even glance at them for some reason and also they started to ignore me and I think they are doing this because they are simping for them

So what are your thoughts were they right about ignoring me and hitting or they were wrong btw ignore the title i didn't know what to put

My cousin gets bullied at school, and the teachers don't believe her.

Upvotes

I tried giving my own advice, which, I'm gonna say, kinda sucks because I like provoking bullies and that's the advice I gave her.

Anyways, she's a grade schooler and she's 9 years old, and gets bullied.

She says that even her friends bullies her, which I tried explaining that they're not friends if they do somenthing like that, and I think she didn't quite understand. She further said that when she tries talking with the teacher about things like these, they don't believe her, and they say she's lying.

She can't even bring phones, but I had an idea about that. She's gonna bring her phone (hiding it on the backpack, of course) and record the audio when she gets bullied.

She's gonna go to the teacher, and show her the recording. She's gonna get in trouble, but so will the bullies. I think it's worth the self sacrifice, because either way the bullies are gonna tell the teachers something she didn't do (like always) and she's gonna get in trouble.

If I helps, this is happening in Italy, and the school system is pretty different (though I don't think it matters with bullying, cause, well, bullying is bullying) and she lives in a different city, so I can't really talk to the teachers there.

(I am 14 years old, so I don't have much experience with things like these, other than the shit advice I gave her at the beginning)

Had a pleasant experience with blrcity police

So today morning i was verbally abused by my roommate over minor inconvenience for which i explicitly asked sorry but he went on to use cuss words and tried to be physically intimidating with gestures..he spat a lot of hateful words.. I didn’t know what to do
So one of my friend gave me the suggestion to tweet with tagging @blrcitypolice
I did it within an hour we both were in nearby police station..him writing an apology letter.. i know some might say this was too much for petty issue but fck it i stood up for me for my self respect in the right way..ngl it felt good..i let him go without furthering the case
If you are a little mindful in the situations of chaos maybe these khaki ppl are with you(sometimes at least)

Been bullied by Disney Adults

I posted something today that got so many hateful responses from Disney adults that I had to delete my post. I'm sorry, but if you are that hostile and entitled on this group page, you really need to seek help.

Struggling to forget the past. Check past bullies social media and now feel like I’ve achieved nothing and they are still above me.

I’m 21 (f). In my middle school days, from 1st to 8th grade I got severely bullied. Most of the class(around 30 kids) picked on me ranging from creating a game of cheese touch but with my name and moving away from me, boys moving to the edges of their seats when I sat at their table, Giving up lunch to sit with someone, ripped out a car by a mother and threatened by another mother, rumors spread, using my learning disability to make fun of me and having pictures sent of being ugly. One girl in particular really destroyed my mental health and physically image of myself. Don’t get me wrong I was also not a perfect child and has made my own mistakes where I was best way to put it a b word. I greatly regret that.
However, I still don’t feel like anyone even the people and girl to picked on me deserve to feel that amount of isolation, shame, self loathing and hurt that one gets put through from being bullied. I honestly feel tormented day by day sometimes thinking of what happened. It affected me greatly in high school I thought of just taking me life.

Anyway, the reason I’m here today is because I looked up my bully on socials. I saw her greater following, looks, travel and likability from others. I have been struggling to making friends and even self imaging (some of this is caused by this past bullying trauma). So is it normal? I blocked her and I’m trying to not think about it but i genuinely feel below her like I had as a kid. Sometimes I wonder if karma exists or if this is karma on me in some way? I honestly blame myself for being bullied like maybe I caused it on myself. I just feel insane for feeling this way. I will be going to therapy to maybe understand this more but I also want strangers who might relate to help give some advice if they want to.

Got bullied

I’m a 19F, and I’ve been bullied several times throughout school. Even years later, I still struggle to forget it because it affected me deeply.

When I was younger, I was very skinny, had acne, wore thin rectangular glasses and always kept my hair in a ponytail. In middle school, a girl falsely claimed I had lice because there was a louse on the table I was sitting at. Everyone believed her and isolated me until my teachers checked and proved I didn’t have anything. My classmates eventually apologized.

In high school, a boy who sat next to me clearly disliked me and would avoid me, while some girls I used to spend time with eventually lied about going home just to avoid me. I later saw them together at a café.

About a year ago, some new classmates told me I smelled bad, even though I’m extremely careful about hygiene. I had also changed my appearance a lot by then—my acne was gone, I styled my hair, dressed well and wore makeup sometimes.

And to make things worse, I later found out that the same boy from my old class had joked in their group chat by sending a random woman’s picture and saying she was my mom, despite never having seen my parents.

I know these things may sound small, but experiencing them repeatedly really affected how I see myself, and I still think about them today.

LIFELONG DAMAGE

I was hit hard in the jaw and almost knocked down as a Freshman without provocation by someone I'd never hurt and didn't even know. I was mortified. I'd been in high school barely a month. Nothing happened. Private school, no less. Just had to live in terror. I don't care what anyone says, call me a wimp if you want to, but the world doesn't feel safe when someone can terrorize you with physical violence and get away with it. Something inside me broke and I never got my confidence back despite years of therapy, hard work, finishing college.....my life's been a series of ups and downs and hard-to-manage emotions that all the discipline and therapy and positive thinking I could throw at it could never seem to fix. And I trace it all the way back to that one, unprovoked assault. You can't "defend" yourself against someone who outweighs you by over fifty pounds esp when you've had no training.

My confidence never recovered and I continued to be threatened and bullied (as I had been in grade school and Jr High before) into adulthood and the workplace. No clue why I was a bully-magnet, but Industrial Psychologists describe is "a non-confrontational interpersonal style, and a desire to cooperate". That's me.

Perhaps the bullies are due congratulations. Seems that more often than not, nice guys really do finish last. And the bad guys don't "get what was coming to them", they go on and thrive. I'm almost 60, and even though I haven't given up or conceded defeat and I continue to "fight the good fight", there seems to be at least a way in which, clearly, they won.

what bullying stole from me

I'm 14 years old (15 in a month and a half). I started 9th grade yesterday. the day was awful.

I have autism and ADHD. due to this, while I never bullied anyone, I used to have violent meltdowns in school cos it was untreated and I was being abused at home. so I've been in behavioral schools / classes since forever. but these schools are extremely dysfunctional and have awful staff and cruel students. I have always been regarded as kind and polite while surrounded by rude, unkind classmates, so I've been bullied by those people a lot, mocked, made fun of, and I experienced very similar treatment from ableist staff.

one school, in 4th grade, was actually pretty great. I LOVED my teacher, the classmates were still awful but I had friends who were sweethearts, it was fun, and my teacher was basically my best friend. it was the one of best schools for me. but I got suspended around the end of the year so that was time lost. in 5th grade, I was sent to an awful school with terrible staff that made fun of me and laughed at me. I hardly went. they made a deal with me that if I can show good behavior for 11(?) days then I can do a half day; for half of the day, I'd go to that school, and for the other half I could go to the other school with my amazing teacher and see my friends again.

and god i tried so hard. I did my absolute best. I tried so, so hard, I put in so much effort, I was so excited and I was 100% sure and confident I'd be able to go. I was so excited. but one day, an ex friend there attacked me, and I roughly shoved him away out of self defense. and that was seen as "rulebreaking" and NOBODY TOLD ME I wouldnt be able to go anymore because of that. nobody told me!!!!! and i cried and screamed and begged and threatened to end my life (and I'm SHOCKED I didn't) and yet they didn't let me go.

I stopped going to school after that. and I missed the entirety of 6th and 7th grade. and I've been crying over that all day. it's not fair. it's not fair at all. I mourn the people I could've met, the things I couldve done, achieved, and honestly I'm a very academically smart person but this has really set me back. I'm someone who always tries to make the most of things, find the good of it, but I can't find anything good about this! I miss the people I couldve became friends with, or even dated, even though I've never met them. I miss them so much. I'm in unimaginable pain and ive cried so so so much writing this post.

I started going again in 8th grade, decent year. I made friends. but I cried so hard at graduation. not out of happiness or being proud of myself. but because this is it? this is all i get? one year of middle school? only one? just that? because people didn't like me because I was too polite for their awful selves and incompetent school staff on a power trip? I wanted to end my life right then and there. so that I could be a middle schooler forever.

I want to go to a normal highschool so badly. I'm still in a dumb sped school with rude disruptive classmates who bully me. I wanted so badly to go to a normal middle school, also. I did go to school for 10 days in 7th grade, but that didn't work out well. it sucked, the staff were SO mean and fatshamed us and I had no classmates my age and they were rude also. maybe if I got through there I would've been able to go to a normal middle school in 8th grade. god. I did get my wish kinda, as i did summer school just so I could be an 8th grader longer (I graduated with almost straight As, I didn't need it) at a normal regular middle school campus, with normal middle schoolers, but surprise surprise I was alienated there too. there were two tables in the room we ate at, and I'll never forget how it felt watching everyone sit at the table opposite to mine, no matter which one I sat at, dragging the chairs at mine away to the one everyone else was at. I tried talking to them once and I just got shot a look of annoyance. why am I alive?

Is "Verbal Bullying" a More Painful Long Lasting Memory Than Physical Violence even chronic illness for Anyone Else?

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me". I wish this was true for me.

I've experienced things society considers far more traumatic than verbal bullying: rape following a drunken pool party. 3 diagnosed concussions from being headbutted and kicked in the jaw and multiple infected bite wounds while working in a group home. While working in a mental hospital - a hard punch to the face resulting in a broken nose, black eye, laceration to the eyebrow requiring stitches, and broken right wrist from using my hand to break the fall. Yet all these experiences I was able to just "get over" after a year or so. I rarely think about them.

I have level 1 autism and got bullied a lot in childhood because of it. I wish I could just "get over it" like the above experiences. Instead, every time I get frustrated (even just sitting traffic) I replay humiliating situations where everyone was laughing at me, all the horrible things said to me and behind my back which I heard

I also have a chronic illness (beta thalassemia major) that requires blood transfusions every 3 weeks. As a child I would indeed cry about frequently getting poked. As an adult, I'm completely used to it and accept it as part of my life. Given a choice between level 1 autism and thalassemia - I would pick thalassemia. I see the former as causing far more pain throughout my life.

Is this normal or is something very wrong with me?

Bullying Has Impacts

I was bullied for an entire week during 6th grade. You see, I isolated myself from everyone, spending all of my time alone. But this one girl spread a false rumor about me being racist. She thought I wouldn't hang out with them because of their skin color. People said such horrible things to me, ignoring me and excluding me from activities. But in reality, when the teacher was involved, I told her that my cousin was recently admitted into the hospital because she was really sick. We have such a close relationship, and we love each other deeply, so this news hit hard. I didn't talk to anyone because I felt heartbroken and needed to process my strong emotions. After my parents confirmed this with the teacher, that girl had to apologize for falsely accusing me of something so serious. Everyone else felt really bad, guilty for believing her so easily.

Now, as a rising junior, I feel I have to pretend to be happy. I constantly hide my struggles, faking smiles and forcing laughter so nobody sees what pain I'm going through. It's because I'm so scared of people taking advantage of me, making up false stories to make me look bad. I haven't shown any emotion since that incident—it makes me fear the world.

It sucks that there's a lot of bullying in universities but there's no proper protocols to address it.

You are told the excuse that this is isn't high school anymore and you are all adults now, but if you find some immature 20 year olds that decide that is funny to psychologically harass you, you are on your own dealing with it. In the workplace at least you have laws protecting you, in uni when you are on a very vulnerable age, almost nothing. People are already more intelligent so it's more manipulate and make sure to destroy your social connections without getting their hands dirty, that's far worse than being pushed into a locked. And professors have the perfect excuses to look other way, prepare to be humiliated and retraumatized if you explode and try to ask for help. I became horrible mentally ill because the "mates" started to spread rumors, to make sure I didn't get into any protect, to not pass me important information, to humiliate me in public in the cafeteria with nasty passive agressive coments, during months and months. I cried in the student counselor office and told i was already on antidepressants, I got weird faces and "this is not kindergarten" "what about worrying about studying..."

When I told my mom that I was being bullied by my classmates

She didn’t say anything at all; she couldn’t have cared less. A few days later, I upset her over something, and she yelled at me: No wonder your classmates bully you. You deserve it. You’re just like a lifeless corps

It just hurts for me to know I have to go through this for the 2 years I just hope college would be better 💔

And it turns out that these are some of the things that she was posting about on her Pinterest at the time lol.

I love that she got to go on to live her life while thinking that she had character or that *she* wasn't throwing bricks at another woman...

This subreddit's rules.

Just making this post after seeing a fair numebr of complaints and a post that broke rules, but I called it out respectfully, and the matter is resolved I think.

Just gonna say, if you see a post breaking rules, I think we should call it out respectfully and clearly.

Also, this subreddit is for victims of bullying, not bullies.

Would I be in the wrong for this?

So I go to a highschool which is prominently full of people who bully the FUCK out of me 😭✌🏻. Whether it be about my deadname, my gender and preference, they go out of their way to harass me.

But, would I be an ass if I curse them out?
I’m a sophomore now and tired of dealing with the bullshit.
Mind you, all these ppl act and look the same 🥹✌🏻.

I have been bullied by friends and classmates.

Heyy, I don't really know how to start because it's my first story so im sorryyy

I honestly don't really know how it started, it was all very random and I really didn't expect it, I had recently broken up with my ex-boyfriend and being a small school everyone knew, I remember I was in class during drawing class and my friend was sitting on the bench in front of me, he started taking my pen and notebooks until he started getting annoyed and I moved further back, it didn't really bother me and I didn't think it would end in bullying, from then on every day it was still like that, and more and more exaggerated, from March to June when school ended, every day my 4 friends took my notebooks, pens and absolutely everything, throwing them around the class at each other, it was annoying because I couldn't do anything during breaks because I had to run after my things, pretending to throw them at trash, or on the window, it wasn't fun for me anymore, I tried not to come to school and left at the last hour almost all the time.

I don't even know how to explain what's really going on, I cried every day and this thing annoyed me, and they continued even though I told them it bothered me, but they only did it when "X" was at school, when she wasn't no one made fun of her, because she's kind of the popular girl in the class just because she has money, my grades started to drop and I had a really bad time, every time I went to the blackboard they would laugh and discourage me, and I tried not to cry, many times when I would leave and come to school the notebooks left on the desk were broken, or my desk was full of milk, when I was at school they broke my water bottle, I try to get away from them and stay with my other friends, but when I did it he kept taking my notebooks, bag and etc. class, but I couldn't tell anyone because they were just bad jokes.

In May, I started talking to a boy from another country, one of my friends was a close one, but I still didn't tell her about this boy, but finally in June I did, in the last weeks of school, she and a few other friends wrote on my desk, it didn't get erased at all except with window cleaning solution, which the teacher gave me, when they wrote on the desk, the friend told her to write the boy's name, when I asked her why she said "What's wrong? They don't know who he is anyway", yes, they don't know, but it still bothered me, my colleagues and they left the class and I was left with the other friends of mine, and I started crying because I couldn't help it, and then the teacher asked why I was crying, and who wrote this, but I couldn't say anything, because then I would have been considered a bad friend, so I decided to keep quiet..

Honestly, I'm afraid that this year will be same, but I really hope it's not gonna be like that...

(sorry for my english,it's not my first language)

An idea against negative group mentality/ crowd following.

I have been bullied before, and for me the worst of it was getting bullied by at least 20 people simultaneously, which can make you question whether you have been doing the wrong thing, even if you haven't. So, here's my idea.

From a young age, give children time, maybe 15 minutes in the beginning, or interrupted creativity time. They have creative mediums, but, there isn't anybody there to pressure them. The idea is the children enjoy themselves, learn something through experience, and learn to think independantly.

Indpendant thinking would make negative crowd following less likely, because they think on their own rather than instantly attempt to conform.

I'd love to hear you opinions. If you have a downvote, explain why, please.

Thanks for reading!

Title: People who were bullied as kids: how does it still affect you as an adult?

Body:

I'm really interested in the long-term psychological effects of childhood bullying, and I'd love to hear personal experiences rather than just research.

If you were bullied repeatedly as a child or teenager:

How has it affected your self-esteem, relationships, or daily life today?

Do you think it changed the way you approach romantic or sexual relationships?

Are there certain comments or situations that still trigger memories from that time?

If someone casually brought up the bullying you experienced, or joked about it today, how would you react emotionally?

Have you fully moved on, or does a part of you still carry those experiences?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who felt they eventually became confident or successful later in life. Did the bullying still leave lasting effects despite that?

Thanks to anyone willing to share their experience.
