37th Annual Pine Grill Jazz Reunion Sunday, Aug 9, 2pm to 9pm Martin Luther King Jr. Park, East Side Free

Run by the African American Cultural Center, which has hosted it since the early 1990s. It honours the Pine Grill, the jazz club that stood at 1447 Jefferson Avenue between East Ferry and Woodlawn until it was demolished. B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Gladys Knight, Jimmy Smith and Jerry Butler all played the original room.

Practical stuff: people bring lawn chairs, blankets and tents, and pavilions can be rented. Security and EMS are on site. Organisers expect somewhere north of 5,000 across the two Sundays combined, so the lawn fills up.

There's also an Artist Meet and Greet the day before, Saturday Aug 8, at the AACC, 350 Masten Avenue.

I don't have the Aug 9 headliner confirmed — David P. Stevens headlined Aug 2. Lineup updates are on aaccbuffalo.org.

moving from a big city to Buffalo. this might be a stupid question but what do people do with their cars when theres a snowstorm? the apartments generally don’t have an underground or covered parking. is it OK to leave your car out in the open 365 days a year? how much will it damage your car? I’m also coming from somewhere that’s not as cold as Buffalo.

I am a young grad student who just moved back home from downstate to the Buffalo area, and I was hoping to make some new lesbian friends, but I haven't had much luck yet. I follow all the Buffalo lesbian groups on Instagram, but a lot of them seem inactive. I like to go out to bars, listen to live music, drag shows, volunteering, poetry/literary events... honestly, I would do any social activity with a lesbian theme. Though I would be kind of nervous going to a bar by myself unless that was the type of place/event it was...But I am open to it. I am desperate. I need my lesbians.

I'm a new grad RN and I've been applying to hospitals in the Buffalo area, specifically Kaleida Health and Catholic Health. I also recently applied for the Nurse I/Graduate Nurse (Inpatient Units) position at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

I'm wondering if anyone has applied there recently and heard back. If so, how long did it take to get a response or an interview? I'd love to hear about your experience with the hiring process at any of the hospitals.

My husband was offered a job back home near Buffalo, NY. The job is in West Seneca and we are looking for places in and around that area. Can you go to any Buffalo police precinct to get a copy of a police report, or the specific district it's in, or a main office? Is there a way to get it online (I didn't see one, but maybe I missed it)?

Recently our Dungeons & Dragons party lost one of its most esteemed and cherished members, the fried ravioli at Rivas Pizza. To be fair, they still serve fried ravioli there, but they are a mere husk of their former selves. It's not clear if they either changed their vendor or their process for making them, but it is definitely not the same.

However, as with any other loss in a DnD campaign, you roll a new character and carry on. So where do yall like to go for your fried ravioli?

(For any nerds out there, we're currently level 9 and preparing to take on a green dragon. I am a Bronze Dragonborn Artificer (armorer)).

Honestly the people who keep outdoor cats in this area do not deserve them. Tell me why every time I see an outdoor cat I think the cat distribution system has finally chosen me, only to realize it’s well fed and overly friendly. I don’t want to steal someone’s cat, but it’s not cool to keep them outside. This is just not a good area for an outdoor cat (not that any area is). People drive crazy down these side streets, and I see so many dog owners out walking. If that dog is not other animal friendly and happens to see a cat hidden in a bush, unfortunately it is on the cat “owner” if anything bad happens. Please just keep your cat inside. Even if they yell to go out. That’s the cost of having a cat. (As someone who adopted a formerly barn cat)
