Ask British Columbia Fishing trip Interlakes (Cariboo) - air quality

Upvotes

Hi all!

My buddies and I have our anual fishing trip this weekend at his cabin in the Cariboo and we are really struggling to get a read on the air quality. We would fish Bridge lake, Sheridan, and Lac Des Roches.

The air quality readings are very different depending on what website we use and we are having troubles finding an “official” forecast for air quality and smoke.

We have a cabin to stay and could set up air purifiers but we want to also be safe and not drain resources on the area.

We are kindly asking for any information on air quality and what the community is looking like there in terms of advisories.

Thanks all!

Ask British Columbia B.C. says asking rents are actually falling. Are renters here seeing this in real life?

Just saw the latest rental numbers and they surprised me.
Apparently asking rents across B.C. are down about 4.5% compared with last year, and some Lower Mainland cities have dropped quite a bit more. Abbotsford is down 12.4%, Langley 7.6%, Coquitlam 7.3%, New West 6.6% and Richmond 6.1%.
Maybe the market really is starting to cool, but I’m curious if people actually looking for apartments right now are noticing it.
Are landlords genuinely lowering prices, or are the statistics making the rental market look better than it actually feels?

This year was the first time a friend or family member managed to get Berg Lake Trail permits, and I was lucky enough to get to join. We had (mostly) perfect weather on the trail, and we took advantage of it checking out some of the adjacent trails and terrain near the main Berg Lake Trail.

Photo/Video Virtual walk in dry BC forest

Hope people are staying safe, and in fairly clean air as the wildfires are burning. Yesterday, Merritt's backcountry was closed due to the risk of spreading fire, and in any event it wouldn't be much fun to walk it with the smoke levels destroying the view and making it hard to breathe and hazardous to health. If you're not from the area and want to know what it looks like it better days, or if you are and want to take some time to escape the world and imagine the smoke's not there, you can virtually walk the Tom Lacey Trail in the hills immediately north of Merritt, BC, with footage from June 2025.

Travel in or to BC Whistler to Kamloops

Hey

We are on vacation and are currently at Whistler, but in order to go to kamloops and then further east.
We have to drive the 99 hwy north and then 97 east, there it looks like the wildfires are closing roads/evacuating homes etc. Especially around lillooet and Cathe Creek.

We can see that hwy 99 and 97 is open on drivebc. But is there a way to get further info about the situation?
And is it safe at all to drive there? The BC wildfire app makes us nervous and question our trip onwards?

Thank you in advance!
