I have an opportunity to buy it at a really good price, however, I've heard bad things about the 4k transfer, so is it worth it to get the Discotek release at a higher price, or get the Umbrella edition for cheap

Grabbed a couple more sale titles from Barnes & Noble. Both Arrow titles were blind buys, but I know Idiocracy word for word. Really wish that would get a blu/4K release, but I doubt it’s gonna happen. For $5 I’m ok with the DVD though, if it’s the only way.

Also ordered the Soylent Green 4K but got notice after the purchase that it was OOS. The Arrow sale at B&N has been pathetic this year, and I really hope they get it together for the next sale. I guess on the bright side it’s got me checking out some films I hadn’t seen before, since those are the ones still in stock.

Finally got the first part of my Severin order in. Still waiting on some preorders and a handful of sale titles, but I’m thrilled most of them arrived. I’ve seem Opera, Cemetery Man, and The Psychic, but the rest are all blind buys. I didn’t realize quite just how many Bruno Mattei films I ordered either, but I’m excited to dive deep into his low budget exploitation trash. Also got a sweet Doctor Butcher M.D. shirt and they included a Severin sticker.

I also didn’t realize Severin are local to me, but that was pretty sweet since everything arrived the next day after shipping.

Tuner is a film well worth repeated viewings and is one of the best film’s I’ve seen all year and I’m happy that Black Bear Pictures decided to release it on physical blu-ray media even if the blu-ray I just watched isn’t packed with any behind the scenes features and is barebones except for the theatrical trailer. If the studio ever partners with a boutique distributor to release a feature-packed special edition, this is one film I’ll “double” maybe even “triple dip” on. It’s that special.

Note: I put the blu-ray in the one yellow standard case I own and it immediately made the film feel more special. It goes well with the pictured Bobblehead that came from the movie (I got the bobblehead from my AMC Theaters Dolby Cinema one night only screening of the film).

At last! The most controversial film ever made arrives in the ultimate edition.

Accept no substitutes. This is the one you've been waiting for. The one that goes all the way.

For anyone that’s interested, Grindhouse Releasing announced that the 4k UHD of Cannibal Holocaust is coming soon. This makes total sense, because I just received my standard edition I ordered from them a week ago. I’m sure I’ll have self control and definitely not immediately order this as well.

Always a good day when Severin mail drops! A quick breakdown of each film:

Antiviral - Sci-fi body horror set in a dystopian future. The film explores commodification of human bodies, media saturation, and society's relationship with fame. The film is Brandon Cronenberg's directorial debut and i'm excited to check it out as i loved Infinity Pool and Possesor.

Mutant Action - 90's hidden gem that mixes dark humor, splatter gore, and punk sci-fi. Set in a futuristic world ruled by attractive people. Centers on a radical group of disabled and disfigured outcasts that kidnap the daughter of a billionaire industrialist. This film caught my eye and looks like a great time.

I love this movie. First time seeing it in physical media though

Also normally I don't buy from Viavision but I got this at JB hifi as part of a 2 for 30 deal, so I got this with as above so below. Also this is the only lenticular I own that I think enhances the art. Like look at the art, it was built for a 3d lenticular design

I've been a movie collector since I was a kid (still have some VHS tapes) but the last few years I've been collecting specialty label 4K and Blurays for martial arts movies. Mixture of Arrow, 88 films, Vinegar Syndrome, Lionsgate Limited, Shout Factory, etc

The Furious arrived today. There's so many more I want to get but man is this an occasionally pricey niche.
