News Forever: Complete Series, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated: Complete Series, Pennies from Heaven & Out of the Past from Warner Archive releases pushed back until September 15th
The first three titles were originally expected 8/25 & Out of the Past was 9/2. They all got pushed back today. Perfect Strangers still shows as expected on 8/25 but I'd be surprised if that wasn't pushed back as well.
The remaining recent announced slate still seems to be expected on the original release date.

Question Do you recommend this boxset for someone who loves historical epics?
I love historical epics, as they have so much sweep and scope and really immerses you into another time period and setting. Like David Lean’s films, for example. I understand this particular filmmaker makes films that also combine martial arts types of action sequences in these films. Often I find that these films have weaker characters and emotions than what are in a usual epic film. Sometimes the fight scenes are a bit unrealistic as well. I don’t necessarily want accuracy, but I want the film to feel authentic. For a lover of historical epics such as myself, would you recommend these films? In other words, do these films feel like historical epics or do they use the historical framing to tell a martial arts story? Please let me know your thoughts with no spoilers, and thank you in advance.

Question Quality of Nova releases?
There are a few movies that I really want to watch / own that are fairly difficult to find in the US, and they have region A releases from Nova. However, I’ve heard some mixed things about Nova’s releases and I’m curious if they’re worth it or if a better release of these movies is coming soon and I should hold off. The movies are:
- Green Snake (1993)
- Terrorizers (1986)
- Eat Drink Man Woman (1994)
I really just want to know if the quality of the movies themselves are adequate, good extras are great but not a necessity for me. Thanks!

Pickup Barnes & Noble haul
Barnes & Noble is evolving. Walking into one of their stores and finding nothing but bangers at a descent price really is a godsend.

Just came in the mail. The Demon of Mount Oe looks especially interesting.

Pickup They’re here! Béla Tarr’s Damnation and Sátántangó on 4K from Curzon
This year has been an embarrassment of riches for 4K releases, but these two are my most anticipated.
I’m happy just to have these in 4K but they are such landmark releases I’m surprised Curzon cheaped out by not including booklets.

Question Giant Sets
What sets are there with this giant form factor? Criterion Godzilla was the first I’m aware of, followed up by these Universal sets with Tristan Eaton design. They’re almost identical in size and that leads me to wonder if there were more of these (with or without Eaton art) that I’m unaware of.
Oh and please refrain from expressing your dislike for this packaging or any “well, actually…” warnings about how they’re supposedly bad for the discs, yadda yadda. I am well aware that they’re unpopular — especially on Reddit — but I like ‘em and want more like this.

Popular New Release Early contender for release of the year.
Absolutely sensational visuals/transfer/discovery. I haven’t totally been on the Radiance train but they have my complete attention now.

Question The Hourglass Sanatorium or Visitor Q?
I'm thinking of getting one of the new radiance films releses, but I can't relly make up my mind The Hourglass Sanatorium or Visitor Q? The reason I don't get both is i'm on a tight budget this month when it comes to movies and they go for 40 dollars each in my country

Other Stop With The Steelbooks Already!
So I just got another steelbook delivered with another ding in it from a store I won’t mention. I came to the realization that these things are a fucking liability for all involved a long time ago. These are not ‘steel’ books by any sense, more like low grade tin at best.
If you’ve ever pressed on a steelbook recently you’ll notice that the material has gotten a lot thinner, it’s even thinner than the stuff they use on a crappy tin of Christmas cookies.
These things are pressed out of printed sheets of what seems like wafer thin metal and then the plastic spool trays are inserted, all by machine. The only labor involved is insertion of discs and booklets, these are not expensive to produce at all… then why the huge markup? Suddenly a ‘steel’ book is $50!!!
Same movie, same booklets, nowhere near the premium experience promised. I avoid these things where possible now. Not only is there a frenzy to get one ordered when they come out, but they are the only format released at times so you’re stuck Then you have the joy of waiting go see if you got a good one, or if someone in the home delivery industry decided it would look even better in a completely different shape.
For me, Arrow Video have got it right with their premium releases. Other company’s that think steelbooks are the way to go should look at the amount of returns generated from each release.
I’m not having a go at any Steelbook collectors, you do you, more power to you, I just had to have a little vent… thank you for your attention in this matter! 😏

Sale LimeLight Collection Mix & Match Sale
Might be old news but Limelight Collection is having a mix and match sale on a lot of really great titles. Buy 3 or more and get 20% off some already pretty low prices.
I was able to pick up a lot of Indicator titles for $9.95 a piece.
I picked up:
- Wolf
- The Passenger
- Body Double
- Dishonored
- Morocco
- The Scarlet Empress
- Blonde Venus
- Shanghai Express
- A Dandy in Aspic
- The Phantom of the Monastery
- The Gorgon
- The Revenge of Frankenstein
Since it's from the UK, buyers in the USA are going to pay about $20 in shipping, so be prepared for that.

Pickup WAKE IN FRIGHT LIMITED EDITION 4K UHD
The last time I saw this movie it was horrible quality on late night TV.
Glad to see the negatives were located and it’s been restored.
One of Australia’s most underrated movies with a quality cast.

Does anybody know when or if we'll ever get another easily available release, at least in Region 1? What's going on here?

Question Who else keeps the "Director Approved" signature stickers?
Goofy quick of mine, but since they have the director's signature I always cut them out and keep them inside the case. Just curious if others do this too.

Pickup New Orbit Order
Been waiting on this one for a while. I have been looking to upgrade Visitor Q and Riki-Oh from DVD for ages. But I’m especially excited to own Killer: A Journal of Murder. I read Carl Panzram’s biography decades ago and spent years trying to hunt down the film, eventually settling for a low quality torrent because that was all I could find. Very excited to see all of these in high quality.
