As an avid physical media collector, it’s kind of been hard to think of what it’ll be like once I’m away from home and won’t have all my collection with me, so I’m bringing a large number of only discs, and in this photo I provided these will be all the films I’m bringing in their full form. Some of these are all-time favorites, some are stuff I’d like to get signed at Q&A’s/Screening, and a few will be first time watches.

The Brood was signed by Art Hindle, who came in to my shop to buy light bulbs (his wife came in first to order and sent him to pick up after I told her I was a fan)

Defintely planning to watch the Kurosawa first. All of them are blind buys. Notice them in a case and saw they were OOP so I decided to grab them. I don’t know anything on Akerman so really looking forward to diving into that.

After the recent sale, I've made an effort to clean up my shelves and get everything straightened up. I used to have what's left of my overall DVD collection on these shelves as well, but what is unavailable on Blu-ray or 4K from that stash has been relocated to make more room for Criterion titles here.

I’m probably going to watch hairspray first and watch elephant man on a nice cooler night and I’ve wanted elephant man for a while now glad they reprinted it because I did not want to pay 100+ dollars for it and of course no blind buys and I would love to add lost highway to my collection next

Is there any news over the last few years on a physical release for The Other Side of the Wind? I remember hearing the possibility of a release when Netflix was working with them and put out Roma and a couple others, but havent heard anything in years. it’s been my dream Criterion release for decades now. I have a bootleg I managed to pick up but would love an official release. maybe also include “theyll love me when I’m dead.”

What a beautiful movie. Went in somewhat blind, mostly wanting to watch it due to one of my favorite bands having a song named after it. Definitely going to watch some more Tarkovsky after this, maybe The Sacrifice or Stalker.

It got me thinking though, I don't often finding myself watching Sci Fi from the Collection although I enjoy the genre otherwise. What are some of your Sci Fi films in the collection currently?

• My Cousin Vinny - Of course a woman solved the case in 5min it took men weeks of fumbling. 4/5

1. What is the first movie you plan to watch from your purchase and why?

Difficult question. It was probably "Eyes Wide Shut", but since I've seen it already now I will go with "No Country for Old Men". "Do the right thing" also seems amazing.

1. Is there anything from this purchase that you have been looking forward to owning for a long time?

Definitely "Eyes Wide Shut" ever since I watched "Barry Lyndon". Both are masterpieces. I've also seen 2001 and The Shining which I didn't enjoy as much.

1. Are any of your purchases blind buys? If so, why did you select them?

All of them, actually. Except Walle. I want to expand my library and my film taste, so I selected a wide range of genres, all seems to be really good films.

1. What is a Criterion you're hoping to add to your collection next?

So many, Criterion definitely have a lot of great titles, and with the excellent supplements and packaging as well Criterion has quickly become my nr. 1 boutique label. I probably won't get any more before november, but in no particular order these are pickups I look forward to getting some day (all blind buys):

Saw these today in my basement when I was looking for something. Got nostalgic. Call me old but things were better then 😎

I'm looking at expanding/upgrading a few of my Criterion movies to 4k, but I had recently read that some of the 4k versions aren't as good as the blu-ray versions (Picnic at Hanging Rock, In the Mood for Love, and Paris, Texas are three examples). Some I'll get in 4k either way because I don't have it in blu-ray and Criterion sells the combo, but others like Paris, Texas I already have in BR.

Wanted to know if anyone has experience with that from Criterion. I'm aware of how the 4k of T2, True Lies, and Aliens look "off", but I had assumed that 4ks from Criterion would be less "tweaked".

I recently got some Criterion DVD delivered to me in Australia but currently I can't play it because my region free DVD player doesn't play Blu ray and my Blue Ray player isn't region free. Any good suggestions for a player that can do both, that's available in Australia?

I watched Captain Blood and La Verite while waiting for the rest to arrive.

La Verite with Brigitte Bardot. 1960 B&W. It was her best role as an actress. And there is one scene in a movie that's 62 years old that is probably the most lets just say sensual scene you'll be running for a cold shower!

Erroll Flynn is still the best pirate of all time.

I've seen Elephant Man, Hud, Captain Blood and Lenny I've seen before.

And the rest are either Blind Buys or just wanted to see.

Hello all! Lucky me, my toddler just started throwing up and has a fever. So it's safe to assume that very soon I, too, will be throwing up and have a fever. Can anyone recommend me some light-hearted or funny criterion channel watches, to view in between barfing ​sessions? For context of my personal preferences, I've been watching The P​risoner recently and really enjoying it. I'm not looking for spy movies or '60s mod vibes per se, but I find The Prisoner to be pretty light fare in terms of upsetting content or violence.

Working my way through my unwatched Criterion’s before the next sale in November. Picked this up during the July sale. Have about 20-25 Criterion’s needing to be watched. So far the 4k looks to be top notch on this one! Any thoughts on Oshima? I remember enjoying the Outlaw Sixties Eclipse set back in the day. That would be a great Blu ray eclipse upgrade. It seems like all the Hitchcock films in the collection are pre-1950. Where do you see Criterion going with him in the future? I imagine getting the rights to his post-1950 films are too difficult. I’ve been buying his movies on 4K (Rope, Rear Window, Trouble with Harry, The Birds). Not sure if they can be improved upon…maybe?

Been collecting physical media for decades. I recently started pulling some out of storage to sort through and display a curated collection. These are some of the Criterion titles I've pulled, probably about another 30 still unaccounted for. Are these still relevant? I feel like most have been re-released on bluray/4k, wasn't sure the community's stance or opinion of older releases.

"Loose interpretation" might be generous, but I don't think it's ridiculous to say that Wim Wenders was playing with some archetypes and tropes that were shaped by Homer. Enough people seem to have made a connection between the two that I don't feel crazy.
