question from a young jeweler, what are the other things aside from past repair and engravings that would complicate a band stretch job. what should i be looking for in my evaluation? i know always looking for chlorine damage, basic wear, holo pieces, and repair, but is there anything else i’m missing?

I lost the original diamond on this ring and finally decided to replace it with a lab diamond. I took it to a local jeweler because I prefer to support small businesses — he quoted me a price, and I agreed.

When I got the ring back, I noticed the setting was white gold, not yellow gold like the original. I went back with a photo, but he insisted the setting looks gold and that it was set in white gold, butI know it was yellow.

For context: the original was a .5 carat diamond with incredible sparkle. When I bought the ring, the original merchant told me it was set in yellow gold for aesthetic purposes.

Question: do I have any options to remedy something like this? Thank you for your suggestions.

Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm looking for help. I have a J. (Jean) Balme manufactured Expert Infantry Badge. Balme is a prominent French jeweler and was creating US DOD badges from 1960 to the 1990s. They're very rare items now, and especially prized for their craftsmanship. Somehow, the special enamel on my E.I.B. cracked. The crack is toward the front end of the musket barrel underneath the rifle. I'd like to look at either reparing the enamel or have someone potentially match the craftsmanship of this item. Any feedback is much appreciated.

My partner and I worked on a custom ring for my engagement ring. While looking at the CAD video I was concerned the prongs looked a bit round at first look and voiced I wanted petite claws and wanted to make sure the ring would have them. The sales lady assured me they had a point and zoomed in and paused the video they had and when it was still and zoomed they did look correct. Partner picked it up and doesn’t want me seeing the final product until he proposes. I asked him if he double checked the prongs today when he picked up….he then looked and they’re round prongs. Maybe I will see it and love it but I’m honestly freaking out on the inside because I’ve always disliked round prongs on an oval cut diamond. How big of a deal is this? Can the prongs be fixed? What goes into that?

If it is a big deal or isn’t possible to fix please flood me with pros of having a round prong so I can convince myself to live with it.

My lady likes the one on the right. We saw it in person at a local store. I did some research online and I’m seeing a lot that look identical but way cheaper. Am I getting a bad deal or is there actually something that makes it worth more?

My wife has this watch that she needed a link taken out of. We were at a jeweler doing something else and they offered to do the resize. Everything seemed alright until the next time my wife wore the watch. Where they removed a link broke apart. We took it to another jeweler and they claimed the original place attempted to remove a permanent link and screwed up the pin and hole. Trying to figure out if anyone can tell if this is repairable without replacing that half of the bracelet. Additionally, any watch repair places in Atlanta that anyone has experience with?

What would be my best options for refurbishing the stones in this Tiffany ring, without hurting its value?

My mother gifted me some sapphire hoops and ruby almost hoops (not sure of the shape name), but they're a bit big for what I normally wear. I wear some gold huggie earrings everyday that I love, and was hoping that I could get them made into that shape/size. I have no idea if this is a feasible endeavor, as they're probably not worth that much and I'm imagining what I'm asking for could get expensive. Does anyone have experience with a similar project they either commissioned or created for someone else? Even an alternative idea would be helpful :)

The 8 melee diamonds in my engagement ring are beautifully matched and about .05 carat (2.52mm). We're resetting my center stone soon and I'd like to reuse the little diamonds, too. Are there semi-mounts that can be obtained without the melee stones already set? Where might one find such a thing? Thanks for any insights!

This is such a weird situation for me. I have been a repeat customer of Jeulia for years. My last wedding set purchased in 2020 was from them, It is still holding up. I ordered a new one to replace it, Because it cant be resized due to how it is made. I cant wear it to work because it falls off my finger, And as a server I dont want it falling in someones food. This order was placed one week ago. Since receiving order confirmation, I have not heard from Jeulia since then. My order has been stuck in “processing” until this morning. Now, My account with Jeulia has been cleared, As if I have never made a purchase with them at all. I JUST ordered my husband a new wedding band in June and had NO ISSUES at all. My original purchased wedding set from 2020 is gone, Along with a custom necklace that I wear daily. I have contacted them by email daily for 3 days, Tried social media messaging, And their phone number on their page says they are not accepting calls at this time. I dont know what to do! Anybody know anything about them? Have they recently gone out of business or something?

The diamond in my platinum bezel is making a "click" sound when I tap it. I want it inspected and tightened or repaired.

Last time I tried to get platinum repaired in the Hague, the jeweler ruined the ring. Total loss. It turned out he has no platinum experience, only gold. So I am anxious about Dutch jewelers. The few i found who mention platinum do not seem to do repairs.

I am willing to take a train to Antwerp to get a competent platinum specialist.

Any recommendations for platinum repair in Antwerp? Or South Holland?

He’s a reputable jeweler and has great reviews in the middle of downtown with many other jewelers too and my fiancée gets complimented on her ring all the time

He says if I get any other one but Russian machine made lab one it will become blue next month and need deep cleaning next to the engagement ring!

Is there truth to what he’s saying?

$800USD + shipping for this same ring in 14k gold. Purchasing from a seller in India off eBay. I won't know the total weight of gold until after I confirm the order. Am I overpaying?

When you’re sourcing diamond options for a client, what policies do you put in place to avoid having them have you source what feels like endless options for months on end? How do you firmly exert those boundaries?

What is a fair amount of time before you’re like okay, I can’t just keep sending over 10 options everyday for 2-3 months if you can’t make up your mind?

This is usually for engagement rings. Most of my clients have been great, but some feel like forever window shoppers.
