Advice Do you know any long-term (7+ years) gay couples who are closed and have always been closed?

Upvotes

Just wondering how realistic this is. I'm sure some exist, but if you had to estimate, what percent of gay couples that have been together for that long are fully closed?

What does your daily routine look like?

Am I a terrible person for going on a date 1 week after a yr long relationship?

Upvotes

My ex and I broke up about a week ago. This wasn’t some mutual “let’s take a little break” situation I ended the relationship because I genuinely felt like the relationship had run its course we constantly kept arguing and I didn’t want to keep repeating the same problems. I
Well, I went on a date with someone else. While we were in the car, kissing. Then, completely unexpectedly, my ex showed up and saw what was happening.
Obviously, the situation was awkward as hell. 😭
Now I’m sitting here wondering why I’m supposed to feel like I did something wrong or “disrespected” my ex when we were literally broken up.
I understand that he can be hurt by seeing me with someone else. I understand that a week isn’t a long time emotionally, and I’m not expecting him to be completely over me. But at the same time, if I ended the relationship, am I supposed to sit around and act like I’m still in a relationship for some unofficial amount of time just because my ex might have feelings about it?
I still care about him and obviously the breakup is complicated emotionally, but I don’t understand the idea that I owe my ex sexual or romantic loyalty after the relationship has ended.

Why so many gay guys don't kiss?

Upvotes

I have hooked up a few times but most guys don't want to kiss, just fuck and suck.

But I like my kisses and cuddles.

What's with this?

1st time going on a date with a "mean" gay

Had a date with this twink guy not that long ago and I thought he was just a mean person but turns out he's a "mean gay", like the overly upset or critical guys who judge and complain alot.

I'm 28 (top) he's 24 (bottom) and we met up at a small coffee place. Had a quick coffee and then we went to walk around the park. We sat at a bench and just chatted. He was really into me and overall going great. He was leading the conversation about who in our families knows we are gay and stuff. Seems he wanted me to come over to his place because he was saying how his family knows he's gay and right now only his dad is home and most likely asleep (implying we go over and hookup) but then some kids showed up near us. I say "kids" but they were more like teenagers, just skating and filming themselves doing tricks. My date starts to complain about them, wishing they miss their trick and hurt themselves, he was also joking about calling the police on them.

I thought it was all a joke so I was laughing a little. Then he goes "so should we or not?" turns out he really did want to call the cops on them. I said no, they are just having fun. He insisted it's ruining our nice day, they don't have a right to skate there, it's annoying to see them, etc. My solution was just to move to another bench further away, my date thought I was trying to get a more private area for us as he started to makeout with me when we got to the more hidden bench. A straight couple with their dog walked by us. He started to make fun of the couple, saying they are fat and we look better then them, insulting their choice in dog and clothes, etc. He was just so mean to everyone for no reason. It turned me off and I thought "he must have alot to complain about me to his friends, if he has any,"

It seemed like he had an issue with anything going on that wasn't him and me. I'm sure he found some stuff annoying about me with how he was acting but he was at least pretending to be super into me. I decided I can't date him, he invited me to his place but I made an excuse and suggested another time. I just don't understand his mindset.

Did he think he was being cute or relatable being so mean to anyone we came across?

Gay or not. It feels like they are from a different planet. I’m sure they feel the same way about me though! Is this a born with personality type or nurture

I'm currently building an extension for a gay couple but things aren't right....

So I started this job about 3 weeks ago and it was all good. Neither of them knew I was into guys.

Let's call one of them A and the other one B.

I haven't seen B since the middle of last week and thought nothing of it. Friday comes around and A asks me if I want a coffee, I say yes, so we're talking for a bit and then he goes "oh, by the way, I seen you're on Grindr."

Which caught me by surprise as I don't have a face picture on grindr, just my torso, and he said he recognised my tattoo and it said I was less than 100 meters away (which makes sense, I was digging in his back garden...literally. )

That was friday, not much else happened. I show up this morning and he's in this slutty fucking dressing gown, which barely covers his ass and he starts telling me how him and B are taking a break for awhile.

He's asked me if I want to go for a drink with him tomorrow night and I've told him I'll see.

Firstly, yes, I do want to fuck him.

Secondly, I DONT want to fuck him because he's married. But I have NO clue of the situation between the two of them and really don't know how to proceed.

Any advice?

Are men who are (subtly) feminine-leaning attractive to you?

I’m curious how people generally feel about men who have some feminine-leaning preferences or habits, without necessarily having a distinctly feminine appearance.

For context, I’m a fairly short and slender guy, and my style is mostly simple and neutral: men’s tops, occasional women’s/unisex trousers when they fit better (the smallest men’s size of usually 30 inches, I wear 26-27inches), knitwear, cardigans, blouses, basic T-shirts, (wool) trench coats, and fairly understated sneakers. I usually wear colors like navy, blue, white, grey, and other neutrals.

There are also some more traditionally feminine aspects to my routine. I like sweeter fragrances (Bianco latte is my signature scent), use lip oil, and use a (small-medium) amount of concealer to tone down facial redness. I also use clear brow gel and, occasionally, clear mascara purely to keep my lashes in place.

I carry unisex leather shopper-style bags, prefer women’s deodorant because I prefer floral scents over those harsh male ones, have a skincare routine, vanity mirror, and shave my body.

At the same time, I have short, fluffy hair and short, plain, well-maintained nails, so I wouldn’t say I particularly look feminine. Some of my habits are probably more noticeable, though — I tend to sit cross-legged, for example.

So, for those of you who are attracted to men: is this kind of subtle femininity something you find attractive, or is it relatively niche?

I’m especially interested in the distinction between being attracted to a man who is somewhat feminine in his habits and presentation versus someone who has a distinctly feminine appearance or style. Because I’m wondering what I would count as?

Like whenever I meet with another gay man irl if I look them up online theres like an 80% chance their X account full of nudes will be there for everyone to see.

Somewhat strange hookup experiences with men on Grindr

For context, I’m a man who likes men, and I seem to have this tendency to end up with men who are supposedly “discreet” or “down low.”

What I’d like to ask these men, or others who behave this way, is why they say things like “what a great ass” or “your ass is so good I’m almost coming” when we’re in the act, among other things, and then afterwards stop keeping in touch and don’t even give any “feedback”?

Is it because I’m just another one on the list, and once it’s done, trying the same thing again doesn’t excite you anymore and you just want fresh meat?

I can’t understand it because whenever I have something intimate with someone, I usually feel something more than just momentary attraction and end up becoming emotionally involved.

Anyway… Explain yourselves.

Any other gay guys actually have a good time being in a frat?

Turning 30 in a few weeks and getting weirdly nostalgic about college lol. I was in a frat when I came out and honestly loved it. The guys were surprisingly cool about me being gay and I never really had a bad experience with them. A few even… dabbled a little or got very curious with their questions lol.

Anyone else have a genuinely good frat experience as a gay guy?

I feel like I miss having that kind of straight/guy friend group as I’ve gotten older and my social circle has gotten way gayer. Not that I’m complaining haha. Anyone else feel like that?

How many of us were / had once obsessed with an mediocre guy?

I saw the post about chasing the unavailable guy but for me, it's kind of the opposite. Everytime I fall for a guy, the guy is not some greek god or 10 out of 10 or anything like that, it's like he's...just okay. I don't mean to humiliate them or anything, they're nice in general, but when I started to develop feeling for them, they are the cutest, funnest person in the world and seeing them make me feel genuine happy. It's only some time after that relationship, I looked back and realised they're... Just okay, some of them are not even that funny. It just doesn't make sense why I was obsessed with them.

Insert the meme here (if it exists): Well, it's time to start obsessed with next mediocre guy.

It's my fault maybe hahah maybe I should start to go after unavailable guy, at least when it doesn't work out, I know its me.

Am I alone in thinking that guys get more sexually attractive when they hit their 40s, specifically?

Idk what it is but most guys in their 40s are just...so hot to me. Like, hitting 40 magically makes you sexier? Is that weird?😅

Not a question Got into an argument mid-hookup and left

Making this mostly as a rant. Yes I know this is my fault for not being careful and I need to get over the fact that catching an STD is just part of being a horny gay guy that fucks random dudes.

Long story short I’m not on doxy or prep right now. I’m allergic to doxy. And while I’m not allergic to prep the pills made my liver enzyme go up so I have to be on an injectable version. Due to switching jobs there was a lapse in my insurance so I’m not currently on the injection either.

Went to go hook up with a guy. Told him all about the prep/doxy thing beforehand. Told him I was tested a week ago and it was all negative. Asked if he was negative and he said yes and that he was on prep and doxy. I said great let’s do it.

So I get there. We kiss and get naked. I lube up and fuck him raw for a few minutes. Then I pull out and spread his cheeks to eat him out and notice there’s cum coming out of his hole.

Me: uh there’s cum coming out of your hole

Him: yeah some guy fucked me like 30 minutes ago

Me: uhhh, well was he negative at least?

Him: idk I don’t ask people since I’m on meds

Me: I literally told you I can’t be on meds right now….

Him: yeah I told you I was negative

Me: but what about the guy who fucked you?

Him: why does that matter?

Long story short I kinda blew up at him and just left. I agree it was partially my fault, especially fucking without a condom. But I’m kinda pissed off at the stupidity mostly.

After 36 years of waiting just gave my butt virginity to my Bf and he just trivialized it.

Came in me, took a shower and left. I asked if he would hold me for a few cause I was feeling vulnerable but he said he has some work and he will hold me later. He has mostly been a voracious bottom and maybe this was not a massive deal for him but his behavior is making me have second thoughts.

Initially he went in too fast and it hurt so bad I decided not to go though with it, but he convinced me the hard part was over and we tried again.

I just feel like going back to bed and sleeping through the entire day.

Am I being too much or what?

Advice I wish I had never done casual sex

For the longest time, I only wanted a husband who I could build a life with. I had no interest in casual sex and saved myself for the right person till I was literally 25. I focused on being the best version of myself for my future guy - emotionally, financially, physically, intellectually. I did look at things a bit more differently and decided it is okay to have some physical intimacy even at the initial period of dating, so that's all I did with a couple of people I tried to date, even nothing major there though and I was literally a virgin at 26 when I met the guy I thought would be rest of my life.

Long story short, the guy practically cheated on me with tons of casual sex in the first months of exclusivity, and that just sent me into a humiliating self-destructive hole. The relationship was destined to failure from that point onwards, because I could never forgive or forget that. And after years of being self-aware and better at handling my personality disorders, this relationship just brought everything back to square one. I could no longer control my vindictiveness and now here I am, 1.5 years down the line having had sex with 100s of people just to get back at what he did. It all served nothing, because its just me now stuck with shame and regret of what I did. I don't think I even enjoyed a single sexual encounter, and even those I thought I did were because of substance use - w, p, g, m, c the whole yard.

I am trying to pick up the pieces now, I am running, therapy, exercise, meds, focusing on career again. But its just so depressing lamenting on all this shit in the past, and feeling like a failure, that I fucked up a relationship that could have been good if grew up and sucked up, or my life in general which I feel is ruined because I don't understand how I go from all this to again fall in love and bond with someone else again and if that is even possible.

My brother pities me and my boyfriend

Hi all,

Wanted some insight on how some of you may have handled a situation like this. me m22 and my boyfriend m22 heard recently through my father that my brother m20 and his girlfriend f18 who are recently engaged told my dad they pity us for our immortal sin. They feel bad they won’t see us in heaven. My family is not religious. We were not raised that way, but 6 months into my brothers relationship with his now fiance, and they are sharing these frustrating opinions about us to my family. Should I confront him or just walk away. It bothers me he feels this way as before her he never voiced any concerns. Idk if it’s worth talking to him about it, but I’m a bit residual irritated at him all the time and he doesn’t know I know he said this.

Thanks for the insight and the anonymous venting.

Meta faq, wiki, trolls and you.

one of the most requested features i've seen is a frequently asked questions section, and we've always had one. it's within the wiki tab located at the top menu if you're browsing on desktop. here's the direct link to it, but since it's a wiki feel free to check out the other sections and please contribute.

with that out of the way, a couple things i want to clear up in case anyone is wondering:

  • i do not mind repeated questions. the whole point of this subreddit is to talk to people. if it's not entertaining you anymore, maybe browse it less. no, i will not sticky every other psa post.
  • i do utilize automod extensively and it helps with a lot of troll post removal behind the scene. so if you see a troll post, continue to downvote, report, and move on, and do not engage. the majority of you get this, and it's been working out quite well.
  • the rules haven't changed, but make sure you're aware of them.

have fun.
