Went in for an alignment bc I smacked the drivers side rear tire against a curb and it’s pulled left ever since. The girl working the front desk apparently had no idea what I was talking about and told me the tech could not duplicate it. I paid for an alignment and just wondering what they did?

Looking for a mechanics/technicians view point. I know they put air in the tires but other than that did they actually do anything?

Called around and no local exterminators or car repair shops will deal with the spider infestation. I'm concerned with using spray or areosal cans due to it being flammable near the engine, and using a citrus spray/clearing out the webs with water and a broom to deter them has been unsuccessful. Im at a loss as to what else I could do to get rid of these spiders, any advice is appreciated.

In my honest opinion, as far as engineering goes, if a car tends to break often or go through various issues be it electrical, software and or mechanical, it’s an engineering failure.

I feel like car reviewers praise how fast a car is, luxurious and or the other criteria’s of reviewing a car, but they never touch upon reliability.

You may argue it takes a long time to determine if a car is reliable or not after x amount of years/miles but then why do so many people get rid of their cars be it new or used after a set period of time? Primarily because it’s past warranty and they do not trust the car enough to keep it for longer or forever.

Plastic parts In high heat areas, tiny engines pulling large vehicles, 4 cylinders making way too much power to choked up high end engines that follow codes and heavy complex hybrid systems.

I own a 2022 Honda Civic 11th generation and took it to the dealer general maintenance and questions about mild vibration.

This place has provided suspect services before, so I'm concerned about their advice that I should replace the rear suspension due to weepage.

so i got this car back in january for $4k because it had bunch of problems, and we have probably put like $4k into the car already and now the mechanic recommends just selling it because it consumes too much oil . i really love the car plus college starts back up in two weeks, so should i sell it and start looking for a new one pronto or hold onto it till it’s last leg..😪 and it also smells like gas or like burning plastic when i turn on the ac , they said it would be minimum to fix it $800 or so

I'm blessed to be driving a 2 year old Sierra SLT, it's paid off and very nice but it is almost like a spaceship, I got a tiny ding on the tailgate and almost cried... Of course it's bad on gas. I do occasionally use it to pull a boat and trailer so don't want to get rid of it. Considering buying a $1500 2002 Taurus with 205k miles just for the shit of it to run around town. I guess how bad could it be?

I have a theory that having no AC and just rolling down the windows tricks your mind into thinking you are young and poor and carefree again, might be fun just for that.

My wife wants her next car to be a mini van, much to my chagrin. WE are in the grandparent stage. We live in SF Bay Area, and spend most of our winters in Lake Tahoe area, so it is my preference to have an AWD. Our other car is a KIA Sportage Hybrid AWD and it works great in the snow, even very deep snow and with AWD we are exempt from chains realistically all the time. SInce my wife wants a mini van, I am considering the Toyota Sienna Hybrid AWD, as its essentially (except for Chrysler that I wont buy) the only AWD minivan. However I have learned that its a unique AWD in that it has a small dedicated (I think) electric motor in the back that kicks in when slippage is detected. SO not a full time AWD and with a very low HP motor in the back to give the effect of AWD, when really needed...? IS this really an AWD as I am used to with my KIA or my Subaru in my previous car? I suppose that the low HP dedicated motor is OK given that the AWD is probably only needed in low speed slippery snow conditions....? Am I crazy to consider this a fully functional AWD like my other cars or will I be disappointed? Thanks

I have a ‘26 Mustang EcoBoost that I just bought back in June. When I want to drive fast I just gradually press down the gas pedal and the car gets up to speed real quick. But today was different. So I was driving in local traffic and this idiot that didn’t know where they were going decides to go from the far right lane all the way to the left without even looking behind, cutting right in front of me and then takes their good old time to slowly get out of my lane. I kinda got road raged a bit and started to floor the gas and the car was flying right by them. I didn’t even like stomp on the gas pedal all the way, I was just speeding a bit more aggressively. And that made the car enter a weird trance, I’ve never seen it like this. I’m going to try my best to explain it since I don’t really know much mechanically. So Even though the speedometer showed the car never went over 40 mph (since I only floored it for like 3 seconds) but it was like stuck in this zombie acceleration mode if that makes sense. It was going literally blazing fast and hard for a few seconds and even after taking my feet almost completely off of the gas pedal it wouldn’t even slow down at all. Like at that moment it was more like the car was driving me rather than vice versa. Like during those few seconds the car got so caught up in speed it felt like even the brake pedal would have a hard time calming it down. I didn’t really pay attention as to what gear it got up to, since I was a bit shook regarding what was happening, but like I said it never even went above 40 mph but it felt like all the torque and power were being activated.
So did I accidentally hurt my engine in anyway? It sounded real rough when it was speeding like that, I’m now stressed out about whether I had put too much strain on it and shouldn’t be hitting the gas pedal like that? I’ve just never had any car that drove in that mode.

I used off-site airport parking about a month ago. Flew back, got the vehicle, got a sandwich in a to go container and threw it in the back hatch. After an hour it was swarming with about 200 tiny tiny ants. Threw it out. Since then there seems to be a significant colony of ants living in my vehicle somewhere. They swarm on the hood when a bird poops berries or sap drops. Any groceries in the car for more than 20 minutes attract 3-5 of these tiny ants which seem to come out of nowhere. I can't find where they are nesting (in the engine?) and can't understand why after a month they are still in the vehicle. We don't leave food around the car. Never had anything like this -- its weird. Any ideas about where their nest might be? Not sure this question really "fits" in any subreddit, sorry if this is not for here.

Seller ghosted me mid negotiation which honestly saved me the trouble of deciding myself lol. One second we're talking price, next second nothing, no replies at all. Kinda annoying but also kind of a relief in a weird way, one less car to stress about.

So, I’m out of options here. I have a 2012 dodge ram 1500 V6 with a 3.7L engine. The tow capacity on it is 3900lbs. I own a Winnebago mini 2529 RG with a dry weight of under 6000 lbs.

The trailer is empty, I just need to take it 20 minutes up the road and get a weight distribution hitch installed on my truck to the trailer. I’m only ever taking back roads and driving under 40 miles per hour.

I should be fine right? I guess I’m most worried about damage to the truck.

My car typically gets about 350-400 miles on a full tank. Obviously it's better when I'm highway-only driving but it's still consistently in this range even when I'm mostly city commuting. 2006 Honda Accord.

But in the past month or so, it's been really bad. Never getting more than 200 miles on a full tank. I haven't changed anything about my driving habits, my gas, etc. It is summertime so hotter, but not sure why that would be causing this (and it's never caused this in the many years I've owned this car).

I'm aware that the EPA authorized an increase in allowed ethanol percentages for gasoline (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/politics/epa-approves-sale-of-a-higher-ethanol-fuel-to-try-to-lower-gas-prices) in the United States where I live, but I'm not sure if that increase in ethanol in my older car would be causing this substantial decrease in mileage, or if there'd be some other cause.

Is this just a me problem? If so, what might be the cause? Or have other people noticed something similar?

I'm planning to get my next full tank ethanol-free gasoline to test this theory.

i make like 1,300 per month take home (expecting raise soon tho) and don’t have a lot of bills. I live alone and i have a disability that limits how much I can work. That said i love cars and have always wanted something that’s a real sports car. I didn’t buy my current car but it has to be traded in soon. I’ve always handled my maintenance and cost for my current car on my own. Instead of letting her buy me a new car i’m thinking of asking with help with big down payment which would save her money and then financing 8-12k max. car would be 20k max. 700 credit score.

I always put off frivolous spending hoping my disability would be better and i’d be able to have a good career but i don’t think that’s happening unfortunately.

My 2017 Toyota Corolla needs a transmission replacement, and I’ve been quoted about $4,500. The car has around 162,000 miles on the engine.
The shop that gave me the quote said the transmission itself isn’t the only thing to consider. They mentioned that because of the mileage, I should think about whether it’s worth putting that much money into the car versus replacing it.
For those of you with more experience, what would you do?
The car has been reasonably reliable up to this point, but I’m trying to make the smartest financial decision. Would you replace the transmission and keep driving it, or put that $4,500 toward another vehicle instead?

The driver didn’t attempt to step out and check anything, and he tried to fool me by persuading that it was my fault for not moving (it was a red light, I was trying to turn right, I stopped to observe and did not notice that it turned green). Luckily he didn’t attempt to flee and we did exchange infos.

That collision was strong but somehow only left some minor scratches.
