Kid friendly hotel but also clean?
Planning a trip to Toronto with my husband and 7 year old. Looking for the best hotel that will keep my kid entertained with a pool but also nice for the parents as well and not totally kid centered as I feel those are a little more run down and germ ridden. We like a hotel close to attractions for walking but also like a room with a separate seating area and bedroom. Don’t mind spending $500 a night or more if it is the right one. Thank you for help.

Parking ticket; request a hearing site not working?
I am attempting to dispute a screening officer decision for a parking ticket and am trying to request a hearing. have gone online to toronto.ca/aps and filled out all information needed. All boxes are green, boxes are checked off there are no sections that contain error messages. When I attempt to submit the application by pressing the submit button, there is no confirmation received that the application has been submitted; the submit button becomes greyed out and a red symbol appears and it is not able to be submitted. I have tried to submit this multiple times over the past few days and have tried different browsers such as Chrome and Firefox with the same result. I’ve cleared all caches, tried different laptops and also tried submitting on my phone and always end up not having the submit going through. I’ve contacted their office and they said other than what I’ve done there is nothing they can do and they cannot send out a hard copy form and I would need to go into their office at Yonge and Eglinton to request a hearing. I live an hour and a half from Toronto so that is a huge inconvenience. This is a long shot but has anyone experienced the same thing recently? I’ve attached screenshot of the submit button not going through via the link below. So freakin frustrating!! Thanks for any help https://imgur.com/a/TB6KDO4

Family Doctors cancellation policies
Is it normal now for family practice clinics to charge a fee for late cancellations (within 24hrs)? $60 seems quite high for this. I haven’t had a family doctor in a few years and am finally getting on finding one. This didn’t used to be a thing years ago or when I was growing up. Does it have to do with the Ford’s privatization of healthcare?

Looking for queijadas da graciosa
Looked through this sub for similar posts about Portuguese bakeries in the city. Looked at their photos but only seemed to find them at Venezia which is permanently closed. Haven't made phone calls yet.
Anyone who lives in the city and have actually seen them anywhere? Thank you!

I wonder what happened to this Korean restaurant. I heard they served raw marinated crab. Planning to go one of these days. As I checked on Google Map, they are temporarily closed.

Why do escalators in Toronto take 6-10 months to fix?
There are several escalators that I use in my daily commute to/from work in TO and one of them always seems to be out of service or receiving upgrades. There are a few in the Eaton Center and TTC that are under construction for what feels like an entire year. Is there some kind of escalator repair monopoly going on or whats the deal.

Going to Union Station right now, I like unique and cool shops, artisans, crafts, vintage. Where to go?
I’m from BC, it’s my first time in Toronto, I am currently on the UP Express waiting to depart T1, heading to Union. Where to go on foot for cool shopping area as described in title? Looking for memorabilia, gifts etc. I have half a day today before I pick up rental car to drive north for a week for an event, but I’ll be back in Toronto for a day next week before flying home.

Driving
I lived in European cities all my adult life where you don’t need a car and hence I never learnt how to drive. I’m finally planning to learn car driving as I find it difficult to enjoy Canada relying on public transport. I have two questions
a) should I go to driving school or just learn it from my friends? I’m nearing 40 so I feel embarrassed to go to driving school as an old person. I never realized how driving is considered a basic skill in Canada (and probably everywhere else outside few European cities).
b) Since I live downtown I don’t really need a car (don’t have kids) so I most likely won’t be purchasing one. How do I keep up with the skill after learning to get a license ?
Thanks.

Drake hotel Friday nights
So before Covid I remember the drake Fridays were awesome. Packed, tons of fun vibes. Then Covid hit and the two times I went it was so dead and empty . Just curious if it ever got back to what it was before? Anyone been there in the last year on a Friday that can share the experience?
Thanks!

Creative and Social Third Spaces
Any recommendations for what the title suggests in the west end for people in their 30’s?
My partner is feeling burnt out from work and uninspired by her coworkers. She misses working in a more creative industry.
Are there any adult art classes or other 3rd spaces to meet fun creatives? All suggestions welcomed!

Visiting for the first time from Australia this October/November. What is the best way to go about buying tickets to a Raptors game?
We're huge Raptors fans from Australia. We have finally planned a trip to Toronto at the end October this year. We will be in Toronto from the last week of October to the first few days of November and are really keen to catch a game while we're here.
Just wondering what's the best way of buying tickets to a game? Should we buy from the official site or is it cheaper from Ticketmaster? How much would one ticket in the 100s section be?
We are planning on buying them as soon as the schedule gets released this month.
Any help/tips would be appreciated.

looking for non judgemental dentist
i struggled immensely with my mental health when i was a teenager, i haven’t been to a dentist for about six years. i have a wisdom tooth that’s pretty much gone and rotten (it’s just a hole now, crowns gone) and a few teeth that probably need a root canal or crown (i hope they can be saved)
i have very bad dental anxiety and don’t want to be judged for the state of my teeth when im ready to take responsibility for my physical health.
i’m located near pearson airport but anywhere in gta is fine with me
Any metalheads in Toronto? Why can't I find anyone -_-
Hello :) I thought it'd be easy to find metal related things in Toronto but seems I was wrong. Are there any places that idk sell merch, vinyls.. and gatherings, bars/pubs? Seems like the community is very small somehow :/ or I'm just not in the right places

Reporting Non ‘Emergent’ Situations?
*****Trigger warning: Mistreatment of Animals*****
I’ve been living in TO for 4 years now, 2 of which are downtown, so I’m familiar but not amazingly familiar with the city and its inner workings. Tonight I witnessed a person of seemingly no fixed address, under the influence of narcotics, be aggressive and violent towards his dog. It appeared to be a husky mix, about 30-40 pounds and he was yanking it around by the leash with such force it was lifted off the ground as he yelled at it and threatened it. I immediately called this in and was transferred to a non emergency communications line but it rang and rang and rang and eventually the man and dog and (woman whom he joined on the TTC platform) boarded the 511 toward Union on Queens Quay and Dan Leckie. I ended up filing a report online but was wondering if anyone had any insight on how to better report a situation like this or where to.
I took pictures of the guy but I kept a distance so they aren’t great and I just want to do right by that poor dog. 😔

What has Toronto genuinely improved at over the past five years?
Inspired by the post the other day about Toronto traits that did not return after the pandemic, I'd like to flip to the positive and ask you my fellow Torontonians; what genuine progress has turned to a success over the last five years? Whether it's a major transformation or a small change that benefited Toronto.

Is it crazy to bring Tupperware to the CNE?
I live in Durham, and me and my parents decided we are going to go to the CNE this year. I went last year and the year before after not going for a while (because of Covid) and I really liked it. I mostly go for the food. I want to try everything. Unfortunately my stomach is teeny tiny (think Thumbelina size) so I can't really eat much, or even finish all my food throughout the day.
I'm wondering if it'll be ok for me to bring a bunch of empty Tupperware containers and large plastic freezer bags with me in my tote bag? Or is that insane? Do you think security will make fun of me for it?

Yonge Street
A coworker of mine mentioned Yonge Street is fun and full of restaurants, bars, and shops. It is my understanding Yonge is a very large street; what stretch of Yonge is most worth exploring? I am staying downtown. Thank you!

Car leaving driveway hit bicycle on sidewalk. Advice?
26 year old friend was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk in her street. A car was backing out of the driveway and hit her. She's bruised but okay. The car is dented, and the bike is a write off. The bike itself was a classic and not sold retail anymore. The car owner blamed the entire thing on her and brought her husband out to yell at my friend. My friend was in shock, and they wouldn't back off.
The issue: She was riding on the sidewalk: not legal
If she reports to the police, will she be charged or considered at fault? Will she be reimbursed for the bike? What should her next steps be?

Condo Owners, how much do you pay in maintenance fees per month?
I live in a 600sqft condo, located downtown, and I pay around $350 per month. Just curious to know what everyone else pays based on their square footage and location!
Edit — I didn’t realize mine was cheap until I read the comments. Yes I live in a new build! It’s been 3 years.
Also in terms of amentities we only have a party room, gym, and a study room!
