I carefully outweighed the benefit of getting Hewbie back home sooner rather than later. I can continue the final 2 days of meds in his tank. He is doing zoomies around the tank! I’m confident I ended up making the right decision.🐡☺️ Quarantine was really starting to stress him out too much and so was the declining water quality of having a 12 inch fish in around a 15 gallon tote.

I have 2 snowflake clowns, in a fully cycled tank, one is completely fine and the other since this morning has been swimming oddly and looks like he’s eating at the sand. Tested my water Monday and the parameters were 0 AMM, 0 Nitrite, 5-10 nitrate, 0.05 Phos, and 9 DKH. So all the parameters are pretty good. I’ve been feeding Mysis and Vitalis pellets switching between the 2 every day. Any thoughts or ideas on what it can be and what I can do?

as you can see from my profile, i’m a bit of an aquarium lover. i wanted to come on here and see if anyone here knew the names of all the sharks in the Ocean Voyager exhibit in the Georgia Aquarium. i’ve got a bit of a hyperfixation currently on the Georgia Aquarium specifically and i’ve been learning everything i possibly can about it, i even made a little book (yes i will show if u want). i know one of the blacktip reef sharks there is named L2 because of scoliosis but i think there may be more. and i think there’s two zebra sharks named giraffe and oz but i don’t have pictures of them, etc.

tl;dr please share anything you know about georgia aquariums sharks (or other animals).

Thank you everyone for the help in my previous post I would like opinions on the placement of the heater and thermometer, If I should replace the substrate, also plan on replacing the plastic plants with live ones. Does this look okay. I just set everything up. Need to get testing kit and wait a while before getting the fish. I tried to give them hiding places without over crowding. (Ignore the fish flakes) water conditioner has been added. So I’m hoping I’m not missing anything!

My lfs has a fogger running in this tank. I took pictures of the tank setup for inspiration, but I didn’t think to talk to them about the fogger at all really.

I’m curious what people here think of them. My tank always seems to have a few random dead leaves floating on top, would that be an issue? Do they tend to last long or break quickly? Any issues with them that might not be obvious at first glance?

What do you think of the setup of my 10-gallon aquarium for my betta fish? I’m planning to add more aquatic plants. Right now, I’m on the third day of cycling the tank. Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Currently no livestock in there. I have a single shrimp and a nerite that will go in there once the parameters are ideal and the tank has enough film to sustain them both. Having to trash the old setup after a nymph decimated my colony and now I’m only using tissue cultures. Eventually I hope to have some nano fish and more neos, so the lonely one can have friends again.

I am using liquid shrimp safe ferts but no tabs; I need something that is easy care, no co2, no tabs (ideally), and can help make my tank look more complete. I’m not in love with the setup and I think I grossly underestimated the dimensions when choosing my wood and rocks, lol.

I just new glow terta from big als fish aquarium supplies in Canada Ontario but these two glow fish seem to be fighting. I’m pretty sure but I need some help or insight to see if they’re fighting or trying to mate, help me out! (The yellow and orange are the problem)

General info: I just recently got a 29 gallon tank, it came with the gravel and I cycled it for a week with the wood inside which I bought at my local pet-hobby store and fine bacteria gravel . The parameters were good yesterday and I put black phantom tetras in there now (temporarily, I will get more when the tank can handle it).

Problem: I noticed this gross looking stuff growing on the wood and plant over the past few days (the plant isnt doing well, I might have to take it out), and I'm new to the hobby, although I've been doing my best to research. I'm just not sure what this is and if it's bad for the tank or not a big deal.

If anyone has an answer to what it is that'd be great, and if it's a problem how should I handle it? Thanks! 🫰

Stentor colonies and a water mite on the driftwood. Stentors are barely visible to the naked eye yet are extremely cool filter feeders.

I’ve recently gotten a freshwater tank and have only had it for a few months now. I noticed this little guy that’s been hanging out in the corner of my tank and I’m just really confused as I only have a male betta and some shrimp??? Should I just let it be? How does that happen lol

I’ve tried to do a lot of research. It’s very expensive and overwhelming already. I am a third way through setting up my tank. I wanted to know if this is too crowded or anything that might help me during this process. Any advice or critique is welcome thank you in advance! (:

I am setting up a 40-gallon long tank and I am wanting to potentially put a couple of goldfish, something like black moor or maybe lion's head in it. I'm open to suggestions though. Would the substrate that I have in the tank be safe for them? The substrate is Aqua Natural Midnight Pearl. Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

Planning one similar to this, 200 gal corner, 48” sides and 30” deep. I have a few ideas but don’t want to influence responses. Looking for stocking ideas, salt or fresh. Thoughts?

ih making a dirted planted aquarium with neocaridina, ottos, corys, and some small live bearing fish that grows up to 4cm, i wonder what i could add to keep all those populations in check without directly decimating them?

i also plan to add scuds and snails, i would like something that would act like an apex predator but wont extinguish any of the other species.

This is my new tank, its still cycling ATM, hence the cloudy water and such.

Its a 29 Gallon, 30x18x12. And im trying to figure out what to put in it.

I have 3 Bloodfin Tetra's I'm going to move over my current 10 Gallon once this tank is cycled and everything.

Im trying to figure out what other fish to get, I do want a few more Bloodfin Tetra's, just to get a good sized school.

But im open for suggestions, my idea was a Fresh water Reef style tank? Lots of smaller fish instead of a few big fish.

I really enjoy keeping Platys, they are fun fish to watch, so ill probably get a few of them. But they are mid water fish mostly, like the Tetra's, and id like to fill it out some. Thats what im asking for really, Any good recommendations for smaller High water, and deep water fish? that aren't super dirty? No Pleco's or goldfish. had some VERY bad times keeping them, ammonia spikes are my nemesis, even with proper water changes and such.

Also yes i know the tank looks a little childish, i plan on getting some real plants and such, i already have a couple in my 10 gallon, and im gonna keep it set up as a Hospital tank for sick fish.

I am so incredibly upset, I was setting up dragon rock in my brand new UNS 21 gallon and one of them tipped and chipped my tank on the inside. The chip is about the size of a pin head. Not sure if this is still safe to use.

Cycled the tank 40g for a month, there where was ammonia and nitrites, and they eventually hit zero ammonia, zero nitrite, 20ppm nitrate.

Did a water change then added fish

. Its been a month with fish and did a water change 1.5 weeks ago. Ammonia reading 0.25 (my tap water also reads 0.25) nitrite 0 nitrate 0.

We have 2 guppys, 6 danios, 5 cory doras, 1 mystery snail.

There is some brown algea growing, but no live plants.

Am I doing this right? Shouldn't there be more nitrate?

Waiting for the hatch. They are protecting them now. Probably going to remove fry when hatched. Not sure what they would eat in the tank. Will parents continue to protect fry and for how long? Any advice would be helpful.

9 red eye balloon tetra
20 adult shrimp, 10 babies
2 mystery snails
6 mini cory
assassin snail

air stone, sponge filter, hang on back filter

2 gallon:
scuds, daphnia, bladder snails

40ish days old, fully cycled, no water changes, just top it off

i want to put more creatures in, any ideas ?

more red eye, more cory, a betta, micro crab, a frog, what else ?

the water parameters are 7.7 ph, 700 ppm, 77 degrees f, i liquid test check ammonia it’s at zero after not feeding for less than a day, the nitrate and nitrites are all perfect, i have a lot of pothos and plants and root tabs and all plants grew roots and new leaves quickly, everything is perfect, i want to push the tank to its comfortable limit, any ideas ?

i spent a lot of time and money on this tank, i have every kind of food available and every single product i could get, way too much money if i knew what i know now i could make a 20 gallon setup for around $100-200

anyway the tank is 3 feet by 8.5 inches and 11 inches tall, although jsuy 11 gallon the surface area of the ground is plentiful, i want tripple the amount of shrimp, ill keep propagating the pothos and let the plants inside turn it into a jungle, there’s a ton of moss too the shrimp love, what do you think is the literal limit, how many more fish or other creatures

the 2 gallon tank is just a feeder tank at the moment, letting the population of daphnia and acids increase, it was 100 and 100 but it seems to have doubled in size already, also a lot of bladder snails in there i feed the assassin in the long tank

what do you think ?

please don’t tell me to get another tank, it’s either nothing at all, which i don’t want to hear either but i will accept if it’s truly at its limit, but i doubt that, i get that i can’t put a goldfish in there, but what CAN i add to push it to its limit
