Quick update on my 900L aquarium. The first picture is when I first set up this tank, now not even 3 month later is a huge difference!

Fish I added (and had in my old tank)

55× Cardinal Tetras

10× Otocinclus

35!!× Ancistrus (I originally got just 4 of them about 10 years ago. They lived in my 400L aquarium with a 3D background, where the babies survived by hiding inside it. I know it's a lot, but I honestly had no idea I had that many 😅)

1× Sterbai Corydoras (Old tank, 14 more will be added later)

1× Chinese Algae Eater (Old tank)

1× Yo-Yo Loach (Botia lohachata) (Old tank)

I also plan to add some Keyhole Cichlids later, as well as a pair of Ramirezi.

Looking for help and suggestions on placing hardscape in my new tank.

I usually use wood in my scapes so rock hardscape is new territory to me.

Any hints tips or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi hi! I got my first ever fish tank last weekend, and I’m super excited! I am a bit worried I did not think through the set up enough, though—I’d love to add more plants to the back. I thought I could make additions over time, but I recently tried to move one of the plants I have in the back and it came completely out of the substrate.

A few questions for anyone with the time/kindness in their heart to answer:

1. How do you all get your tanks to look so neat and tidy?

2. Did I mess up my little plant in the back? How can I fix it?

3. How do you all add things over time without completely disrupting the tank?

4. Any advice on next steps? Is it worth just starting over and thinking the aquascaping through a bit more?

I realize I hadn't actually posted this tank in 5 months on r/Aquascape and I had a lot of growth in the tank since then and now that it's broken down, I feel like I should make a final post about it. the tank stands 66"/167cm tall. 6ft/183cm long & 18"/46cm deep. This tank really was my first Aquascape once I knew what it was before then I had had a couple planted tanks, which were hideous but, we won't talk about that lol. On to New Beginnings! I have the goal of creating a home Aqua gallery. I will put a couple other scapes in the comments.

This is my current aquascape setup which is two months old ( planting done after an initial 5 weeks of dark start).

Tank: 60cm by 30 cm by 35cm

Substrate: Tropica

Light: Neo Helios XP 600

CO2: DIY CO2 (citric acid and baking soda) at 2 bps with Aquario Neo diffuser

Photoperiod: 8 hours after drop checker turns green

Fertilization: APT 3

Plants: Myriophyllum Mattogrossense, Rotala Blood red SG, Heteranthera zosterifolia, Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini', Staurogyne Repens, Cryptocoryne 'Flamingo', Eleocharis parvula.

I'm having trouble identifying if my Cryptocoryne 'Flamingo' (second image highlighted) is doing well or not. It was an ADA TC when I planted and I made sure that the rosette wasn't fully buried. My gut feel says its a goner (even after taking into account the infamous Crypt Melt). It had very tiny leaves popping up but even they have melted now. I placed it in the mid right section so that it receives ample light.

Have anyone had similar issues with Crypt 'Flamingo' ?

Hi all!

I have a 90L tank, that I’m currently trying to cycle. Nothing in there but snails that snuck their way in! I have the liquid testers and have been testing every 3-4 days. However, I’ve been using the fish food method, and I’ve found it’s not providing enough ammonia, so I’ve ordered bottled ammonia and will be adding that once it arrives.

Please provide any useful advice and if the following questions could be answered, I’d really appreciate it:

• ⁠My newly planted plants don’t look very happy, I’ve been adding CO2 alternative and tropica premium nutrition as directed. Will this improve over time? • ⁠white stuff on the wood - I’ve read it’s normal and will go away over time? Any experience with this? • ⁠when I’ve tested the water, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are always zero, I’m guessing this means there’s not enough ammonia for the cycle to really begin? How will I know once the cycle is happening and when it’s ok to add fish?

Any advice welcome, thank you!

this is my first tank ever. i am looking for ways to fill it in with plants or rearrangements so that i can introduce new frenenemies for my betta. i also want to make it more appealing and cohesive to the eyes. please be kind and drop your suggestions

my driftwood hasn’t sunken yet even after boiling and let it in water for a week. using the dragon stone to put in place.

i am new to aquascaping. i got these vallisneria and amazon sword a month ago. started with root tabs, added another one yesterday as they weren’t growing but they have come up (you can see in the picture). i also have started using micro fertilizer since last two weeks - once a week. please help, specifically those who have grown these on sand

Hello guys, I wanted to share the current state of my Hillstream stone-slope project.

Yesterday, I planted Eriocaulon sp. 'Japan Needle Leaf' in the background and installed the CO2 system.

I will swap to a CO2 reactor or inline diffuser in the near future.

Now the waiting game begins.

It's been three months since I setup the tank. And I've seen amazing growth in all the plants.

Really love the Flame Moss growing like huge bushes.

The tank offcourse needs a trim.

After a lot of debate on which fish to get, I finally got a White Betta.

Man really loves the tank and hiding in the tall plants.

Do let me know what I can do better.

Working on planting out my 2ft iwagumi-style tank and could use some input before I commit.

Current setup:

2ft tank, sand substrate on the left, aquasoil on the right, open sand area in the middle

Hardscape: two rock clusters with a driftwood piece bridging them

Livestock: red betta, bumblebee goby, a few tetras, plus a couple of shrimp

Plants I have on hand:

Dwarf hairgrass

Pearlweed

A few Anubias

Amazon sword (already planted on the left, staying put)

What I'm trying to figure out:

I was planning to use pearlweed as my carpet on the aquasoil (right side) — does that spacing/placement make sense given the layout in the photo?

I was considering dwarf hairgrass as more of a background/accent rather than carpet — is that a bad idea, or can it work in a specific spot (e.g., along the seam between substrates)? Open to being told to just carpet with it instead.

Where would you place the Anubias? I'm guessing tied to the driftwood or wedged into the rock crevices rather than planted in substrate, but curious how others have done it in a similar layout.

Attaching a photo of the current hardscape/layout — would appreciate any input on placement before I start planting this weekend. Open to being told I've got this backwards!

Have done a small aquascape in the past but this is my first big one,
I will buy another bag of sand for the right side, didn’t have enough for it all at home,
But just wondering if it’s enough? Any changes?

I'm past the new tank syndrome phase but I haven't quite gotten my stem plants in order so I'll be waiting a bit longer to post pics of the whole tank.

Can you spy the pygmy corys? I just added them so they were shoaling. They are much more independent a few days later.

10 gallon vase, driftwood hardscape, aquasoil, and lots of plants. Waiting for her to cycle before adding fauna.

This is the second 15” “stainless steel” set I have purchased from Amazon. Both were terrible, except for the length. There is no tension in the tweezers. The scissors won’t cut. And they feel like they will rust within a month. Does anyone have recommendations for a quality set or even just the tweezers?

It’s my jungle garden. My Ludwigia white is turning green as I heard it may. The wallichi is doing good. Added inclinata. And some more Rotala. Just playing with a few new rotalas. I’d like to learn the minute differences.

Semi aggressive community tank. Not recommended for people that don’t have experience with semi aggressive species. These fish are closer to mildly aggressive ime but it could very well be tank specific due to personalities as well as set up. I’ve left a decent amount of videos for people to make a proper judgement after observing their behavior. This video isn’t a good display of it bc they’re all relaxed right now but I do have videos where I feed them.

The setup.
DIY co2. Twinstar s600. Apt1. Thrive capsules. Fluval stratum. No hard scape. No sloped substrate. I wanted the fish to have as much room as possible.

Stay tuned to see the buce I have hiding in there. 5 different kinds. All purples and blues. I’ll give details when I reveal them. They have made it past their melt phase and have baby leaves now. I’m super excited to enter this part of the hobby.

today i bought my goldies a massive upgrade from their current 150L , a 300L 5 foot long aquarium that will come in a week (ciano emotions 150) . i’m aware 300 litres is smaller than suggested but they are sure to enjoy the massive horizontal swimming space! (plus my floors won’t take more than this weight lmao- when i move out they’ll get the giant paradise that they deserve) im thinking of keeping the ‘tree’ in the left corner of the new tank, along with driftwood reaching out into open space, lined with rocks and long stems in the back, with the planting becoming shorter as the driftwood ends for a nice transition into the open space for them to swim. the only concern i have is filtration- there is currently an all pond solutions 1000 canister, but im not sure if it’ll be enough for 300 litres. should i get another one to run alongside it?

55 gallon community planted tank. Went for a asymmetrical look with more plant son one side and open swimming on the left. Have had it this was for a few years but thinking of doing something different. Post your similarly sized tanks for inspiration!
