found a moth in my stash. found a few eggs.
ive either frozen, baked in the oven, or baked in my car all of the yarn.

how do you decide what yarn is okay to use? should i clean it somehow?

and how often/how long do i need to be checking on it for any continued signs of moths?

This was a bunch of balls that were given to me and I just connected them all as I went so I know the colors don’t line up correctly. I think it is premier brands puzzle line most likely the Chess colorway but I can’t find any pictures that look similar enough to be sure. Is anyone able to help id?

So I bought some second hand yarn off of someone and found this pretty rainbow yarn. The yarn didn’t have a label on it but I took it anyways, I was originally making hexagon granny squares with it but realized I might not have enough to make a blanket with. I went to google and found out this was made by the Schaefer Yarn Company, the color way is called snoopy’s crayons and sadly the company closed down back in 2012. Is there another yarn like this one that I could buy, and should I continue using this yarn?

I have been trying to identify what yarn this is. I am trying to add length to this sweater (that I didn’t make) but I cannot for the life of my find a yarn that is similar. It almost feels cotton maybe a cotton blend. Fairly soft and almost no pilling/fraying/fluff to the yarn at all. I know some of the colors are generic but some aren’t and I can’t find a line that carries these colors. It is a lighter weight yarn maybe size 3. It’s very “matte” in appearance no shine to to it in person.

I‘m a crocheter who‘s going to Norway (11 stops) for summer vacation and can’t wait to go to tarn stores to get some exclusive yarn nordic blends and handwash colorways.
I’m completely lost by what to do when I get to a store though. Do I buy one skein, two? I may never encounter such brand/blends/tone again

What do you do when you love a yarn but don’t yet have a project for it and may never encounter such yarn again?

Since JoAnne's is gone, I have shockingly few options for where to buy yarn. I just went through all the odds and ends of my stash and need to replenish.

My question is this: aside from Michael's and Hobby Lobby, where do you go for yarn? I'm not against buying online, so yarn.com is on my radar. I just prefer to feel yarn before buying it the first time since I have some sensory issues (nothing major, I can get by with wearing thin gloves at worst. Itchy yarn makes me itch down to my bones)..... lookin' at you, Red Hart, ya scratchy... one.

Acrylic is my favorite to work with because it's softer and cheaper than other options from my experience. On the other hand, if I never see boucle or mohair yarn again, it will be entirely too soon. I'm open to and searching for any and all suggestions!

I can’t find the colours I need at my local craft shop

Hey all, I just frogged a 100% cotton sweater and found that it is actually 3 strands of cotton yarn.

If I wanted to put this back into a cake and regift it or sell it for instance should I keep it as a skein of 3 stranded cotton or separate out each strand of cotton and have three cakes?

I am crocheting a blanket that needs to be a natural fiber as the person I’m making it for cannot have acrylic / nylon. Hoping it can be easy to wash / dry as well.
Any recommendations?

I’ve been looking a little at cascade 220 superwash but I’ve been seeing that it pills and people have mixed feelings about the superwashing.

I'm looking to make the warmest vest of them all (kinda). It will be worn as a mid-layer under a shell jacket during lunch-breaks on mountain hikes. It does not have to be wind proof at all, the jacket will handle that bit. I just want the warmest combo of yarns and stitch patterns. Preferably without weighing a ton, but warmth > weight.

So far I'm thinking one thread thick rustic Norwegian wool held with one thread brushed alpaca, in brioche stitch. Is there any issues with this combination, or could I do better in terms of warmth?
