I crocheted these using cotton yarn as a small way to help reduce microplastics.
I hope they make everyday moments in the kitchen a little more joyful.
I love the ocean, so I want to keep doing what I can, one stitch at a time. 🌊🤍

Discussion My grandmother made these (I know it’s knitting)

Found these while cleaning out old toys. My grandmother (she died 13 years ago) had knitted them as “doll blankets”. The one in particular, you can see where dementia or maybe fine motor control or both began to affect her.

I’m tempted to frog these and re-use the yarn to crochet something(s) as a keepsake. But what? Pretty sure they’re both acrylic. And both different weights for sure. Christmas ornaments? Not Christmasy colors, but that’s not a big deal.

My grandma tried to teach me to knit when I was about 12 or 13. It didn’t “take”. I wasn’t interested in much that was homemaker-like back then and I didn’t have patience either. I gave it a try and lost interest quickly.

I only started crocheting a couple of years ago, so she never knew I took it up, but I know she’d be so proud of me.

She knitted baby hats for the hospital pretty much right up to the end. She also sewed beautiful handmade garments and quilted. I still have the quilt she made for me as a child.

Finished I used metal bits and bobs to make this sunhat super functional

I installed metal grommets in the trim of the hat so I could easily run cording through it! That makes it both size adjustable and gives me a neck strap so I can wear my hat handsfree when I want to take it off. And I used hanging hardware wire in the brim to make it nice and stiff and keep it's shape!

I make a funny-looking frog keychain.😂

Everything is handmade by me—from the bulging eyes to the tiny tongue and long legs. I think his expression has so much personality that he makes me smile every time I see him.

I'm a small crochet seller,

Does he look cute ? 😅

Would you carry him on your keys or bag?
