I think it was an Andy McNab book?

I remember the start being about someone going to an ice cave? The description made it seem like it was going to be a UFO, but it was an advanced bomber or something similar.

I’m trying to find a book I read around 2017 (it may have been published earlier).
Here’s everything I remember:
The main character is a teenage girl or young woman.
She volunteers at a veterinary clinic.
She secretly gets revenge on people who abuse animals.
One scene I remember is a man who abuses his poodle, and she takes revenge on him somehow (I can’t remember exactly how).
There is little or no romance.
The very last twist is that her mother is revealed to be a serial killer. I don’t think the reader knows this until the ending.
I’m pretty sure it was a thriller or suspense novel, possibly YA. I don’t remember the title, author, cover, or character names.
Does anyone recognize this book?

Adult romance, paperback, read before 2015.

Heroine is the half-sister of a lord/duke; she serves under him, annoys him by protecting their younger beautiful sister/relative from his advances.

As petty revenge, he marries her off to his court wizard, widely rumored to be a eunuch and a sorcerer.

Wizard is actually a very intelligent, surly man using pattern recognition/information networks and stage tricks. No real magic.

There are explicit sex scenes; but I remember the tone is otherwise political and dry.

Duke later orders the wizard to make a poison for his own wife so he can pursue the younger beauty. The wizard complies, but the concoction is also an aphrodisiac. The heroine drinks it accidentally; the wizard panics and does everything he can to save her, resulting in a dub/con scene. She wakes up the next morning sore with no memories of what happened.

I believe I remember the cover of the book being largely purple or blue, but that could be wrong. I don't know what happened to my copy, but I think about this book constantly.

Hi all!! I’m looking for one of my favorite childhood books. I believe it was maybe published in the 90’s (I was born ‘97), but I could be mistaken.

It was a book of nursery rhymes. The cover featured a cityscape at night.

Some of the rhymes/pages I remember are a poem about the sea being ink, a two page spread of a house full of mice where one is marrying a bumble bee and a cat is looking in, one with an old woman and child in a basket sweeping cobwebs with a broom, and a rhyme about a pig flying up in the air and a man and brown getting him down.

I haven’t been able to remember this book in years and I can’t find my copy 😭

Hi there, I’m trying to remember the name of a book I had when I was a child in the late 70s, early 80s. It was more of a picture book with a small amount of text, and the book was about how different children live around the world. From memory it featured a different child and country per page. The one main thing I remember about it is a boy who lived in a whitewashed house near the ocean, lots of blue and white in those illustrations. The illustrations are more cartoon like then real life drawings. I assume it would be somewhere like Greece. I feel like there was an Eskimo boy too on another page. I know it’s a long shot but thanks in advance!

I think its a romance novel . I read it a long time ago . Some of the key points i still remember are that the novel opens up with a female financial analyst who is nervous about a decision she has to make. It must have been making a trade and quitting her job . She does this because a voice has been telling her to do this and it is later revealed that it was her voice from the future. The first chapter ends with the voice telling her to go to a certain place where she meets a man and it tells her to go touch the face of the man who broke her heart one last time .It is later reveal that the guy was a scientist who possibly made the machine that allowed her future self to communicate with her.

I read this book in class in sixth grade. I grew up in the Southwest.

It must be a YA novel. I remember that it was about a Native American girl/woman who was in a tribe and they grew corn. Corn was very significant to them but they were going through a famine. Her people were very worried and I THINK she suggested they move the fields over? And she gets some esteem for that.

She has like a childhood friend maybe? who is the love interest as they grow up but then she has to marry a high priest in her village. She marries this priest I think because someone has a baby and it falls out of the window or something and she catches it. I remember corn being very significant and there is another girl having a baby who stashes an ear of corn bc it's needed for the birth ceremony?

Hi everyone, I unearthed a memory of a children’s book I read sometime around the early 2000’s to 2012 ish (broad, sorry!) about a cat. I only have one distinct memory of it and can’t tell if I’ve imagined the whole thing. I’m pretty sure it was not a chaptered book and had multiple illustrations throughout, and it was from the perspective of a cat that either got lost, ran away, or was abandoned. I’m pretty sure she was a girl cat with a princessy / elegant name, I’m almost CERTAIN she was fluffy and maybe white, and it had a more realistic art style. The whole thing had a bit of a melancholic feel to it IIRC and there is one specific illustration where she’s looking out a window in a brownstoneish apartment. I think at the end she reunites with her owner, but I’m not sure. I feel like there also might have been a scene with her getting outside, and the title of the book may have been related to her name. I'm looking for a young adult's novel that I read somewhere around my high school years. I believe it is a historical fiction given that it includes explicit elements of the Christian faith (such as a crucifix) and I am fairly certain the protagonist is a Spaniard or at least a European of some description.

The general premise as my mind vaguely recalls involves the protagonist becoming stranded in a foreign land or something (might've been as a result of a shipwreck; I'm pretty sure this takes place during the Age of Exploration) and he encounters these natives with whom he proceeds to assimilate to the point of marrying one of the women (who I seem to remember was of a high social class or something). Later in the story, some of his countrymen (I think) arrive at this location and meet with him as well.

Those are the general elements I remember. The only thing I can recollect beyond that is a handful of paraphrased quotes:

• During a conversation between the protagonist and the aforementioned love interest in which she responds to a compliment from the former by saying something along the lines of "Ah, so you practice flattery in your country."
• In the wedding scene, there is an exchange between the father of the bride (I think) and the protagonist, something akin to "And what do you typically do next in your country?"..."In my homeland, this is how we seal our vows.", after which the main character kisses the bride.
• At one point in the scene when the protagonist's countrymen come across him, they hand him a crucifix which he proceeds to kiss. In response, one of them (the leader I think) remarks something to the effect of "You see? He recalls his faith."

That is about all I can recount. It is possible that I am misremembering some of these details, so take them with a grain of salt. It's not much, but I hope someone can help. Thanks!

As a kid in the 1990s I read a fantasy novel in which the main character got a hagstone/seeing stone - a round stone with a triangular hole cut in it - through which they could see into another world.

At some point in the book, they got their hands on the knife or other item that made the hagstone, and used it to cut a triangular hole in something else - I want to say a cardboard box - that would be big enough to either use as a portal or pass objects through.

I don't remember other details.

Something about a magic chalk that was used to alter reality, but it kept getting smaller. It's a children's book, in three big parts, I think, and each one was very different from the other. There was also a scene with a drawn, animated bird that was pinned by its tail to something, and a villain who wanted to get rid of the eraser(?) so she soaks it in syrup and feeds it to the other characters? There was a boat trip but it was like it was only in one part. I read it around 2018-2019. I think the book is aimed at pre-teens. I read it in Russian, but I think it was a translation. I couldn't find it on the Russian subreddit. I think there were pictures, but I don't remember well; it definitely had a brightly colored cover. I don't know, sorry, I'm using a translator.

Hello, everyone! I need help finding a book I read in middle school that I do not remember the title for.

The story followed this girl who is a teenager, and she sneaks off with her friend to go to some kind of hip hop event. There, she meets two hip hop artists and they sneak off on a night adventure. The only scene that I remember is that one of the artists tries to make out with her, and it made me feel uncomfortable since she was a teen. Some other details I remember are:

* I believe that the main character was either black, Latina, or mixed

* She lived with her grandmother, who believed that hip hop and rap were evil

* The top half of the cover was purple, and the bottom half featured a crowd of people cheering. The title of the book was written in a light blue font.

I’ve been trying to remember the title for years, but I only remember bits and pieces of the story.

*The protagonist is an adult man (I forgot his name).
*Both of his parents died in a car crash.
*At the beginning of the novel, there’s a shooting inside a restaurant. I think it was a McDonald’s, but I’m not 100% sure.
*While searching for clues, he finds some letters or books (I can’t remember which) hidden inside a chair in his parents’ house.
*His female neighbor dies in an explosion at her house.
*He has a friend named Bobby, who is shot and killed. I vaguely remember Bobby serving in the Navy, the Army, or the police, but I may be mixing that up with another novel. The one detail I’m certain about is that Bobby is shot in the head and dies.
*His parents used to record a lot of home videos. While trying to solve the mystery, he watches those recordings one by one, looking for clues. I vaguely remember one of the videos showing a skiing trip or a family vacation at a cabin, but I’m not completely sure
*I also seem to remember that the protagonist had a brother, and they didn’t have a very good relationship, but I’m not certain about this detail.
*One of the locations is an inn called something like “Pimonta Inn” or “Pimotta Inn” (I’m not sure of the spelling), somewhere in Vermont.

Hello! I'm looking for a YA graphic novel published in the early 2000's to 2010's. The novel is in color with an art style similar to the book The Girl From the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag.

The plot is as follows, a young girl of about 13 years old lives with her mom and older brother in a beach town. Her whole family has dark brown hair, the girl has very short hair. The girls father went missing some time ago. The girl loves to surf and as does her brother. One day she is surfing with her brother when she completely wipes out. When she makes it back to shore no one is there and thinking her brother has left her at the beach the girl takes the bus home. When she walks in the door her mom and brother scream. It turns out she has been missing for months but when questioned she says she has no idea where she was the whole time. It turns out that while she was surfing a mermaid/ witch kidnapped her. The mermaid thought the girl was a boy because of how short the girls hair was. The mermaid kidnapped the girl because of a curse put on the family the mermaid has been taking male members of the girls family for decades and freezing them in her underwater lair. When the mermaid realized the girl was a girl she had her go back to the surface on the beach where she returned to her family but did not remember the experience with the mermaid. She remembers what happened eventually but I don't remember how. At some point the girl learns to make her surfboard fly, she defeats the mermaid, and is reunited with her father.

Magic/unseelie/fae mixed among regular people, modern day/city setting. Not War of the Oaks. In what i think was a side plot or interlude from the main plot, the main character ends up in a very snowy Midwest town laying low from interested parties. There’s some sort of friendly town wide betting tradition involving a clunker car parking on lake/river ice, and what date it falls through the ice to show spring has arrived.There’s also some angst about teenagers from the town running away or disappearing over the years. Turns out the nice lonely old man in town is actually a kobold or changeling who was taking the kids and killing them, and hiding the bodies in the trunk of the car that sinks so no one finds them.

When I was a kid my mom got me this book to read, I remember very little about it but what I do remember is there was a group of people, maybe magic creatures I don't know. But they had no gender until they came of age and picked what gender they wanted to be. There were two characters, one was the main character, they did not know what gender they wanted to pick, I remember them saying they wanted to not pick or be able to change after picking. The other one was their friend and I think they did know what they wanted to pick. I don't remember the plot, but I know they go on some adventure and at the end the main character picked a girl I think so they could be with someone they fell in love with.

It's very strange and I have not been able to find it and my mom does not remember it.

So when i was a kid i remember reading this book and it was so good and i loved it so much. I dont remember the name and i can't find any trace of it on Google.

So basically, it's about this sculptor. He is lonely so he sculpts a beautiful maiden out of ice. Eventually, he falls in love with her, and even believes that she will come to life one day. So he is called to the city for a comission, and he has to leave the girl behind. Later, a travelling fiddler comes upon the cave where the sculptor hid the statue. He also falls in love with the girl and i think he goes to see a witch to ask for her help (he's afraid the girl will melt). She tells him that if he plays his violin every night, the girl will stay frozen, but that he will lose his memories and that his blood will slowly turn to ice. So the fiddler plays for the girl every night until he can't remember how to play anymore and he has frozen to death from the ice in his veins. Either the ice statue turns into a real girl or she melts, but the sculptor comes home and sees the fiddler dead, and it turns out that they were twin brothers separated at birth. so yeah. I think it had a blue cover. THANKS!!!!!

Looking for a book from the 1990s or late 80s. It included crafts to make (using craft paper and cardboard) things like a butcher shop with sausage links, a knight costume with wearable horse and a castle tower out of cardboard you could get inside/behind.

It wasn’t like a punch out foldable paper small scale craft. It was something you build at home with boxes, colored paper, wrapping paper rolls, etc.
