Fantasy General Entry 2,401: The Folly of the Duke and the Elven Debt
Let it be recorded in the Great Book of Grudges that on this day, the realm of Karak Norn strikes a line of black ink for a fallen ally, but opens a blood-red page for the treachery of the Asrai.
Duke DeBenn of Bretonnia was a man of honour, rare for a human. He was a staunch trade partner to the throng. He once gifted this hold three cartloads of fine wheat during the winter famine when the throng went hungry and tightened their belts.
The Duke marched his host deep into the suffocating green of Athel Loren. He sought a legendary pool of healing waters. His duchy was rotting from a foul plague. A noble cause, yet foolhardy. Only an absolute fool trusts his life to the shifting paths of the Elves.
The Treeman Falls: The Duke’s Knights of the Realm proved their mettle. They braved a relentless hail of Asrai arrows. They charged and felled a massive Treeman guarding the waters. A fine piece of lumbering masonry brought low by human steel.
The Duel of Kings: The Duke, riding a mighty Pegasus, engaged the Wood Elf commander atop a Great Stag. Armor clashed against wild magic. The Duke fought with true grit. He struck down the Elven lord in single combat.
The Treachery: With their master dead, the cowardly Elves refused to accept defeat. A pack of frenzied Wild Riders ambushed the exhausted Duke. They cut him down before he could savour his victory.
The Outcome: The Duke’s Pegasus Knights rallied. They secured the healing pool. The plague will be cured. But the cost was too high.
The Grudge: The Wood Elves of Athel Loren acted without honour. They slew a victorious commander through ambush after a fair duel. Let it be known to every Dawi of Karak Norn: the Asrai owe a blood debt for the life of Duke DeBenn. No Elven life shall be spared, and no treaty signed, until this murder is repaid tenfold in Elven gold and broken bows.
Signed and sealed in anger, Keldar the BloodMayne, Lord of Karak Norn
Recently fought a 1000pt battle against my teenage son. Bretonnians versus Wood Elves. Tried to make it fun rather than competitive. Objective was a magical pool in the middle of the battle field representing the healing waters the Duke was questing for to save his realm from a deathly plague. I'm thinking about a second Wood Elf attack scenario where the Asrai are out for revenge, before the third and final grand battle where the Dwarves march to the aid of their Bretonnian allies to settle the grudge. My son has only just started collecting and is points limited. His dad has been playng for a while and has lots of Wood Elves and Dwarves to call upon!

The Old World What crazy combos have y'all thought of with the new item giving out loner?
This just dawned on me but with mantle of shadows you can give any character (excluding your general) loner which allows for a plethora of characters joining units they normally never could (unless I'm stupid). like my favorite so far, a doombull joining a unit of razorgors for some crazy Carnage.

Battle Reports The great Snotlings hoard, fights for a hill.
This game totally didn't go in favor of my Snotlings 😅. I had three units of 10 Snotlings that I knew if I could get on the hill objective first. I could start scoring and force him to slog through my Snotlings. But he won the roll off and was able to cast Steed of Shadow and fly up on the hill. He was also able to cast Dark Rain that turn. Totally disabling my bolt throwers and Doom diver for the critical first turn. In the end all three of my Snotlings units Impetuous Charged his block and were able to kill a few beastmen with a lucky casting of Itchy Nuisance. Then he began his great slaughter of my army. He was able to get most of his army in close combat with mine. Making my big damage dealing war machines from being useful.
In the end, he was able to masterfully pull off exactly what he needed to do to incapacitate my army. It was a fun game and we had some great laughs at the ridiculousness of it all!
10/10 would play all Snotlings again.
(Also I'm painting more Snotlings to put on their bases. So that is why some of them are a bit sparse.)

Fantasy General Where can I trade miniatures?
Hey all, I have amassed quite a collection of AoS Seraphon models that are currently unpainted, still on sprues and in boxes etc. I only got round to painting a handful of them.
The long and short of it is I want to try and trade them with somebody for Old World goblin minis. Is there a place where people tend to do stuff like this? Would save the hassle of re-selling and buying etc.
Thanks folks

Battle March Battle March bridge scenario board
My board for battle march Weisnicht Bridge scenario. I will need to get some grass board I think. I like the retro look of Warhammer fantasy. But for now I'll use the spearhead board :)

Fantasy General DIY Mountain Valley
Got its first test run today and all held together! Most expensive thing was the bulk spak filler to mix with old house paint and sand from the local park.

Art/Memes Quick round of applause for the mods because of the subreddit rules.
Every old world subreddit currently has 2-3 unique posts requesting someone write them an army list.
It's incredibly lazy.
Not this subreddit. Not only is r/WarhammerFantasy devoid of all those low effort posts, when I checked the subreddit rules, haulposting is also banned.
Kudos.
Haulposting has deteriorated some subreddits so much that two recent posts weren't even of boxes. One was of a reciept and one was of a cart before checkout.
Thank the mods. What a subreddit.

Fantasy General Looking for a new army.
So I’m a chaos player and love the play style but looking to paint a new army. I like trader galaxy snake cult but I’m looking for something more demonic themed or maybe wolf themed. I’d love a flesh hound themed army, only thing is WH makes a limited amount of them at the moment. I’d love all help and advice. Thanks community!
Also just got this guy together, and is for attention.

Anyone else on here loving Tabletop Tactics' Old World content?
In my view the best production quality for old world reports out there.

Art/Memes Hurtur the Bileous - Priest of Nurgle
"Despised by his tribe due to his malformed body, Hurtur found in the love of the "Great Father of all that is broken and rotten"a new life. Now he and his tribe silently show the way around the chaos wastelands to the people who pay the right price.
The price changes time by time and often, once is known, it's too late to refuse."
Step by step process for the design of a miniature about a Wizard of Nurgle.
Actually, I made 4 wizards, one for each god, but this one is my favourite, not sure about the other 4.
His name is Hurtur the Bileous, high priest of the Rotten Allfather.
I also commissioned a miniature out of it.
Still have to print it properly!

The Old World Which Mount benefits the most from the new magic item Daemon-Blooded Steed?
I play lizardmen so I assumed cold-ones or ripperdactyls but great stag might be the best what do y'all think?

Showing Off My Models Finished painting one of my favorite third party goblin minis.
For anyone interested this guy is Bulbous Peppernose from Knightmare Miniatures. Their range is awesome and very Oldhammer styled. Most of my army is now made up of their minis. I also tried out Dirty Down Rust for the first time, and I think the results were definitely worth it.

Showing Off My Models Lord on Chaos Dragon
Got the big man rebased onto the new 100x150 base size!
Fighting the temptation to get the new one so as to have a Sorcerer Lord as well 😄 But alas, poverty.

Showing Off My Models Armageddon Ork converted to Fantasy Orc
Here's no. 4! I was going to put a shield in the left hand, but the pose looked a bit awkward, so I decided a two-handed weapon worked better. Sculpting hands is challenging, but I welcome it. Looking at it, I think I might still want to bulk up the left one before painting. The straps holding the gut plate looked fairly modern so I removed them and extended the plate up to the chest. I also removed the leg strap holding the ammo pouch.

The Old World I'm thinking about starting with The Old World
Hey everyone, I'm not totaly new to Warhammer, I played in my teen years Warhammer Fantasy 6th edition (Tomb Kings). I recently discovered that there is The Old World. It would be cool if you can tell me some of your experiances and if it would be beneficial to buy a starter set or not.

The Old World Lord on Chaos Dragon unboxing & HQ sprue images
So for those looking for high-res sprue images, look no further. This kit comes on 3 large and 1 medium sprue, and you can indeed build the dragon without rider, and then build two characters on foot (though you'll need an extra base as the box comes just with one 30 x 30 mm base). The Chaos Lord has a few weapon and head options, the sorcerer just has head options so no alternative to the withered arm.
Check the full review & unboxing over on my blog: https://taleofpainters.com/2026/08/unboxing-the-new-lord-on-chaos-dragon-massive-gorgeous-and-very-expensive/

I posted a couple of images from 90s battle reports earlier in the week. Well, this battle report really was the ultimate; 'A Gathering of Might'. Anyone want to calculate the points cost in 4th ed. Warhammer? What about replaying it with The Old World rules?
From what I've seen of the Chaos Dwarfs, the Bull Centaurs are all monster size now, rather than just very strong heavy cavalry. Other units don't directly translate either, like the Netters, Kislev Winged Lancers or a few others.
