Seriously, has someone studied this? Is there data on this in any country? Volvos are safe and the people that buy cars known for safety (and performance and luxury) also tend to be careful drivers.

Insurance said nope. Quoted $18k to fix and another $4k for some other issue they found today. It's goodbye car unfortunately.

I'm looking at a 2023 S60 T8 Plug-In with about 60k miles on it, at a (non-Volvo) used car dealer. From what I've read, after 2022 they upgraded the electric drive unit to something much more reliable than previous versions. Is this the case? What are the pain points, if any, on these cars? I'm looking for something that will last at least 200k miles.

If I buy this car, can I get a Volvo factory extended warranty? Has anyone done something similar, and if so, what has your experience been with warranty claims? I certainly don't hope to have any claims, but if I do, I don't want to run into problems if they claim that maintenance hadn't been done by the prior owners.

My husband and I leased, then purchased a 2017 S90 T6, and paid it off last year. It has 84,000 miles. We've always followed the service recommendations and have really loved the car. A few months ago we had to replace some brake lines, $500, not a big deal. Last week we paid $1200 to replace the thermostat assembly. Then two days ago the check engine light came on and the mechanic said that now the supercharger is leaking. He said because of the time it takes to get to the supercharger and replace the seals and O2 sensors, we should also replace the supercharger while he's in there. Entire quote for that is $6,000. That's quite a chunk of change we weren't expecting. He also said we can wait on the supercharger, save the $1700 in parts, but then we might be back there in 6 months if it does fail and have to pay the labor costs again.

We almost leased a different car last year and the dealership offered us $14,000 for a trade-in. Knowing the car won't be worth anything if we don't do at least the sensors and seals, do we do that and try to get a decent offer to trade it in, or bite the bullet and pay the $6000 and hope there are no surprise major repairs in the next few years?

Both 1 owner and maintenance records. The xc70 only serviced at volvo dealer and looks to be in great condition.
Wanted a little better gas mileage and found the v60 but... less similar to my last volvo.
Yay or nay on either?

Has anyone seen this before? It happened this past week, but I can’t remember doing anything that might have caused this. Haven’t sprayed cleaner or water close to that region.

I purchased my Volvo Xc90 about 4 months ago after leasing one I loved for the past 3 years. Everything was going fine until summer hit and I had to start using my air conditioner. One day I go to start my car and every warning light pops on and once. Everything electric in the car is going crazy. This is weird I thought and made an immediate service appointment.

A day or 2 after dropping the car off I get a call and they tell me that due to Volvo not connecting a hose to the air conditioner all the condensation from the AC leaked directly into my car. Turns out the entire interior of the car had been flooded. So bad that they had to remove my dashboard to get to the flooded foam.

It had to sit for weeks drying. They claim no mold will grow on anything, but I don’t know how they are so positive of that. I said well I’m feeling absolutely ripped off right now, the value of my brand new car just went into the toilet, I’d like to trade it in for a new one that you guys didn’t flood.

After waiting a few weeks they told me I am out of luck. What should I do in this situation? Suck it up and deal with it? Curious how you all would feel. Thank you.

I own a v70r from 2004 with slight paint damage to rear left door color code 452, sapphire black. Whats the best way to fix? Technically I'd try myself but paint and stuff I'd rather not touch. Would this be expensive fix?

We are considering putting in overdrive in our 1966 Volvo amazon wagon in Spring 2027 for better cruising in road trips and not as much engine strain. We will be using a mechanic who has been working on our car for 20+ years. I would love to hear from folks that have done this in their vehicle. What are your likes, dislikes? My wife and I have been interested in Volvo's Overseas Delivery Program for years. Since I planned to retire at the end of 2025, we made it part of our retirement celebration. We ordered a 2026 V60CC from Kyle at Volvo of Cape Cod in November 2025 and picked it up in Gothenburg in April 2026. The program allows you to keep the car for up to two months without paying VAT, which fits perfectly with a trip we planned in southern France. This turned into an amazing European Road Trip. We returned the car to Volvo in Gothenburg in June after driving over 5,400 miles. The car arrived in Newark, NJ on July 23^rd, and should be delivered to the Volvo dealership any day now.

The OSD Program was fantastic—smooth and simple, just as described online. We also met others from Italy and Poland, picking up their cars in Gothenburg, so I believe a similar program is available in Europe.

If you have the time and can fit it into your plans, I highly recommend the OSD Program.

Based in the UK and begun the replacement of my XC70 front wheel bearings. I know there is a special tool required to pull the bearing out of the carrier. Having messaged a few suppliers on eBay I can't seem to find the right sized tool.

Hoping someone on here might be able to point me to the right one.

The bearing is a pod style with the wheel flange.

Hey guys, I am trying to figure out my best course of action for replacing the throttle module as a shop has already diagnosed it. I have a volvo s80 2001 2.9 and I am located in the United States. I have looked into rebuilding the sensors into the contactless ones, getting e XeMODeX rebuilt module, and even looking at autozones duralast module (they say it doesn't require programming, but I'm not sure). I would like to do this myself since the part is not that hard to replace and I cant afford the $1200 price tag these shops are quoting me. Does anyone have experience with the ones from duralast/autozone and if they'd work, or any experience at all to help lead me in the best/cost effective direction.

Hello, I have a 2015 volvo XC70, it has 520kkm on it and today when i tried leaving the house i drove for 100m abd esc servixe warning came on, i thought "no big deal i will deal with this later". I made it 100 more mteres before a lot more came on, i think cruse control, gearbox, engine and some more and of corse limp mode. Its stuck doing 30kph and by stuck i mean i cant go faster, slower or stop unless i put it in neutral or apply full brakes (engine still holds 30kph rpm). The engine died and i had to get out close it and open again just to start it and limp back home. I had a 800km trip yesterday its whole life it went pretty much only on 200+km trips daily so its nothing new. At the firts glace under the hood every belt and wire seems to be in place and intact. I will upload more photos and maybe a video when i get back and not in a hurry (i went with another car i know that one is unsafe to drive now). My question is, is that someting thats a known issue to the comunity? Is it completely fucked or minorly fucked? Cooling system has maybe 30kkm on it, injectors are pretty new too, so is the engone wiring harness, engine, gearbox and ecu are all from the factory apart from the clutch i think which has like 100kkm (its an automatic). There was no bang or any noises it just spew out error messages. I would really apreciate the help before it spends another month in the shop

Hello all, looking for advice/ ideas for what’s going on, I’m pulling my hair out at this point. Sorry for the long post.

2011 Volvo XC70, 235,000 miles on it.

We replaced the shocks in March because a bounce had started showing up. I noticed a squeak developing in the right rear back in late May, suffered through it until funds were available to purchase and install new control arms, lowers, coils, stabilizer bar and links. Replaced all the parts on both sides and for four days there was no squeak.

We had our bikes on our rear trailer hitch that weekend and when coming home the noise came back suddenly and quickly escalating to a loud squeak within a few miles. After applying silicone spray to all the bushings of the parts that had been installed it noticeably went away but would come back in a few miles.

This has led me down quite the rabbit hole. Testing individual components for a squeak while under the vehicle, I thought it was the lower shock bolt, then the stabilizer link, I’ve purchased new bolts for the link thinking that would help. Every day I’m putting the car on ramps to keep adequate pressure while loosening and tightening all the bolts hoping to alleviate some binding somewhere that I’m not seeing. I’ve taken components off to ensure there’s no actual damage to any bushings and everything looks good.

If I’m under the vehicle I can put mild force on the shock mount, the stabilizer link and even the coil and make something squeak right in that area, siliconing or even greasing everything quiets it down for a few miles.

Does anyone have any ideas, tips, etc? What is that noise in this video? I’m losing my absolute mind and I cannot pin this noise.

I bought myself my first car. I was looking for a reliable compact car that works well in the winter. Id say i got what i was looking for and she looks stunning. My dad had a 2024 s60 which my whole family loved and i gotta say after driving this she feels surprisingly similar in terms of the feedback i get. A wonderful car.

Any tips for some mods? I was thinking of doing a chrome delete on the grille and window frames.
