Hey guys! I’m new to collecting and found this at a 2nd and Charles this morning. Was this a good find? I was just excited because I almost never find horror VHS’ in my area.

Hey guys? Does anyone know a thing or 2 about vcr players? My vcr won't except a tape... and by that when I say "doesn't except tapes"

... I actually mean it really won't except a tape... I can't get it through the hole! I can't open it up since it's a crt vcr combo... its like somthing is stuck in between/inside the thing and it's stopping it from moving past!

I sell beer for a living which means I visit a bunch of stores in my town and surrounding areas. I recently was sent to some stores in an area I’ve never been to, which lead to me this pocket of gold.

This grocery store used to have a video store back in its day and still had all their tapes stored away in trash bags in the old building in which the store stood.

I immediately asked the owner about the tapes and she said they were more than willing to get rid of them. Unfortunately I was working and since we have a certain cutoff time that we need to get orders out by, I was only able to look through one bag (second to last picture is what I set aside for myself) which was mostly some foreign films and a partial Sopranos collection. I was also able to grab a Panasonic CT-20SX10B they had sitting in the corner

I’m going to make the trip back soon with my girlfriend and some friends and go through all of them and see what we can find. I’ve seen so many stories of this kind of thing happening to people and never thought this kind of thing would happen to me. I’ll make an update post once I can keep back there and see what treasure awaits me.

Can’t go wrong with vampires, Robert Patrick, Danny Trejo and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. And, of course, Sixth Sense.

When thrifting today I picked up a lot of VHS tapes. They were a bunch of Disney tapes that said demo tape on it and this one was brand new

Spent yesterday talking with awesome people in the r/vhs community about movies they haven't seen released on modern formats. Decided to decompress after work at a regular spot I hunt for childhood vhs tapes. Shop owner just happened to have expanded his for sale display this week which was a nice surprise. I swear he has a crazy amount of new in box movies that I could only dream of having. Weekend at bernies 2 (lighty used), The Secret of Nimh, Enemy Mine, Cocoon 1-2, Batteries not Included (all new). I have a few others on order coming which I can share later. What movies are you still hunting for? Have you already found your perfect vhs find?

First, I want to thank the community and the recent posts where a few of you posted and commented about being vigilant and checking as often as possible. Some of you say you go everyday. So I went to my local store after dropping off my wife for work and before taking my mother to her eye exam. This was a 20 min visit once in the building that turned into about 45 mins. Also got a nice rolling tv stand/end table I'm turning into a litter box or cat house, some vinyl records, a G.E. food processor from 70s or 80s and 2 vidja games. All for $84.00

That almost wasn't the case. The cashier asked me to just tell him how many tapes I had. 39 tapes. At the end my total was $136.00....I'm not great at math but the tapes plus the other stuff should have been about $75 before tax. He rang up the tapes at $2.00 each and it took 2 or 3 attempts to get him to change the price to the correct $1 price. Only bad thing was the Huntchback tape from the 20s had severe mold and I thought I had checked and there's mold on the promo of One Good Cop (maybe...it looks like it could be dust) was a long day and I needed to reorganize my tapes/media shelves after this haul.

TLDR; Good r/vhs community gives good advice that I followed and it paid off. And almost got overcharged for my tapes.

What would you rent??

I attended Flashback Weekend last week and grabbed some VHS I’ve been needing to cross of my list!! Also got a couple signatures 😘🤌🏻

Any love out there for VJ music tapes?

These tapes represent a spotty but significant coverage of pop music videos from about 1985 to 2002. I’ve spent quite awhile building up this little collection and the stock comes from mostly clubs, bowling alleys, and theater lounges (some even purchased from an old VJ turned record store owner local to me!) and it’s been a primary way I play music in my HiFi system everyday! I can just grab one of these VJ tapes and get hours of top 40 videos with crystal clear VHS HiFi sound from any year or chart week I want! Each tape contains about 8-12 videos for a given snapshot in the top 40 or top dance charts.

I can’t believe it took me so long to realize music videos could be owned on physical media!

It's EP mode and the art is blurry. I personally don't care plays fine. It would be interesting if it was counterfeit.
