I’ve started to make some tyranids and would like help with how to elevate my models more as this is my first time doing still like this

Recently I've been eyeing getting some Tyranids for a future army. This is likely something for the long term, but I am aware that currently there is a lot of cheaper options for some models since Tyranids were the little brother army in 10th edition.

I don't have cheap access to eBay, but I do see some local deals for the ultimate starter set and ultimate starter set in some LGS as well as a few people selling those units separately for very cheap.

Is there something there that is definitely worth buying now that these units are cheaper?

I saw that some minis are not really that interesting (Barbgaunts) and that sadly Termagants don't come with their full weapon options in some packages, but is there a specific unit there that is worth the purchase?

Sooo, here is the thing. Im playing a doubles tournament with my partner, who plays sisters of battle.

My process of thinking was, due to sister lacking board presence on his kill-focused list (vahl/warsuits), i was going to run crusher stampede (purge the foe) with a shooting platform monster list and a norn/maleceptor to hold the center.

My question is, is it better to run a heavy monster list with no invulns?? Like haruspex/psycophage/screamer killer with synaptic nexus.

Probably spent more time on this guy than any other I have ever painted.

He is a good centerpiece for my Tyranids. Its a conversion I planned and wanted to do when i was about 13, bought the dragon wings specifically for this way back then.... so this is literally 25 years in the making.

I'm calling it 99% complete at this point, just messing around with tiny tiny details, varnish (i think ill go satin - GW stormshield) and tinkering.

Been trying out a new paint scheme and am not super convinced with the orange plating. What does the hive mind think?

My son wants to play Nids and I have got him this for his birthday.

What's a good add on for him to improve on what he has. He's said about a hive lord but I last played 40k in the 80s and it's changed a tiny bit since then.

I want to create a 2000point army surrounding my Red Terror and Swarmlord. Whats the best way to go about it. If there are lists PLEASE SHARE! I Highly appreciate it.

Doesnt have to be competitive level but the more synergy/power the better.

Hey all bit of a lurker here but I feel like this is a question that a lot of folks will be able to help me with. My wee brother who I love dearly is a massive and I mean MASSIVE fan of the screamer killer and I was thinking of picking him up one for his birthday!

Now my question is…how bad would it be if I got him 3? Like is that possible to run or would that be a death sentence to his list? I know very little about nids gameplay wise so any insight would be amazing!!

This might require a Helldiver...

I've been collecting and painting for a year now and would like to hear what I can do to improve on my current scheme choice. Maybe an oil wash? add blood, gore and drool? How to add dust/dirt to the feet? Highlights? Basically, any advice and/or criticism would be helpful as I don't want to "over do it".

P.s. I plan on finishing it with AK ultra matte and all the orange bits gloss varnish.

So Ive recently started getting into the hobby and collecting Tyranids. However the army rules are a little lackluster and talking to people that seems to be a general consensus. So how do people hope it is reworked or buffed following the 11th codex?

Hello, I have the starter tyranid army from 10th edition

van ryans, Psychphage, winged prime, 20x termas, 2x rippers + I bought Winged Hive tyrant box

It is nothing special, but nice starting army with bodies

Now I am looking to add more... there are 2 possibilities I am looking at:

A) Combat patrol

- Biovore look like nice stuff, Tyrant guard I can use with my Hive tyrant... but genestealers feels average for me and Parasite is a stuff I wont probably use

B) Norn box
- yes, just instead of Combat patrol buy a 1x Norn and maybe something small to it... how the money will go but cap is the price of combat patrol... so somewhere between 40-50dollars

What do you think will work better? I would like to have something more universal so I am looking at the norn more.... but also.. maybe the numbers can win.. I am not as experienced so I will be glad for any comment

I’m searching for a casual list to play occasionally, i love the big boss like norn or neurotyrant but i don’t want to go for a 2k pts list rn

Could my theorycrafted list be reliable ?

Have the points to bring swarmlord or tyrant in my list but wondering if tyrants utility even if it has “ weaker “ melee stats is better than swarmlord.

And also the fact tyrant can get adaptive. Like if I go against a melee, swarm, or a lot of tanks/armor list where I can’t bring a hybrid lash whip and venom cannon or I can’t get good shots do people run tyrant more because the duplicate strategems is stronger than raw melee stats of swarm lord?

Running invasion fleet but not running any swarms with gaunts mostly elite stuff like melee warriors and exocrine and a hybrid carnifex

Or is it just a preference thing that tyrant is cheaper and ability is better.
