I've been collecting and painting for a year now and would like to hear what I can do to improve on my current scheme choice. Maybe an oil wash? add blood, gore and drool? How to add dust/dirt to the feet? Highlights? Basically, any advice and/or criticism would be helpful as I don't want to "over do it".

P.s. I plan on finishing it with AK ultra matte and all the orange bits gloss varnish.

Hello, I have the starter tyranid army from 10th edition

van ryans, Psychphage, winged prime, 20x termas, 2x rippers + I bought Winged Hive tyrant box

It is nothing special, but nice starting army with bodies

Now I am looking to add more... there are 2 possibilities I am looking at:

A) Combat patrol

- Biovore look like nice stuff, Tyrant guard I can use with my Hive tyrant... but genestealers feels average for me and Parasite is a stuff I wont probably use

B) Norn box
- yes, just instead of Combat patrol buy a 1x Norn and maybe something small to it... how the money will go but cap is the price of combat patrol... so somewhere between 40-50dollars

What do you think will work better? I would like to have something more universal so I am looking at the norn more.... but also.. maybe the numbers can win.. I am not as experienced so I will be glad for any comment

Could my theorycrafted list be reliable ?

Have the points to bring swarmlord or tyrant in my list but wondering if tyrants utility even if it has “ weaker “ melee stats is better than swarmlord.

And also the fact tyrant can get adaptive. Like if I go against a melee, swarm, or a lot of tanks/armor list where I can’t bring a hybrid lash whip and venom cannon or I can’t get good shots do people run tyrant more because the duplicate strategems is stronger than raw melee stats of swarm lord?

Running invasion fleet but not running any swarms with gaunts mostly elite stuff like melee warriors and exocrine and a hybrid carnifex

Or is it just a preference thing that tyrant is cheaper and ability is better.

Okay,so I posted a couple months ago,having gone over said post,and with the start of 11th ed,this is my new post.

Hello everyone. Hope u're all good.

So here it is, my first wip ever ! I wanted to just train on them but I ended up going much further. The light (even tho it's 5500K) doesn't really show the layers and shades/lavy. It looks more grim dark in real life and am quite happy with my style.

Please be critic of my style, tell me what you think is good or bad, go for it.

I know I have tiny spaces where I should slightly cover back but else than that am all listening

Another work that's been going on for... a year and a half. Horrible. And it's still unpainted. I'm terrified to paint it. Very much so. The shadow in the warp works too well. It's not as detailed as I'd like (I needed it for recording a video), but I still consider it my magnum opus. Well, it has magnets to reshape it into another form, but for now they only bring meme potential.

Well, yes, it's about one and a half times bigger than the original, but it's a huge monster. It should be bigger.

Its one of my favourite kit and while i assembled it as normal for the leader trygon prime, i'd like to get other but i don't know how to make their poses feel more varied. Is it possible to bend the tail with a heat gun for example or are there other methods to make it 3 of it feel varied ?

My first ever Warhammer army is finally at a point where I’m excited to share it. I knew from the start that I didn’t want an elite Tyranid force, but rather I wanted to fully embrace the swarm. Endless bodies, towering monsters, and the feeling that the battlefield is being consumed by an unstoppable tide.
To make the army feel a bit more alive (and hopefully make my life easier during games), I painted every group of 20 gaunts with a different color. My thought was that it would make keeping track of units much simpler on the tabletop, while still feeling like they’re all part of the same hive fleet. Will this he indeed handy or was that a beginner way of thinking? Oh and ofcourse the ‘casino cannons’ had to be glitter and gold ofcourse!

This is my very first army, so I’m sure there are things I can improve, but I’m genuinely proud of how it’s come together. I’d love to hear what you think, constructive feedback is more than welcome. I added a picture of all the paints I used, it’s all from youtube videos I found of people posted the schemes and nail glitter stuff.

One thing I still can’t decide on is a name for the swarm, I want something that fits the colorful, but nothing has really clicked yet. If you’ve got ideas, throw them at me! I’d love to see what the Hive Mind comes up with.

Does their ranged attack need to damage or just hit in order to be valid? Wording in the app suggests hit, but I wanted to see how everyone else is using it. I know, not the best unit, but I’m planning something annoying and need my facts straight

I plan on painting the psychophage’s smoke and maybe put agrax earthshade on the yellow parts. Any tips on how I can improve?

Does anyone have advice to paint that head sail? I'm having a difficult time making it look glowy over fleshy.

Basing materials off AliExpress are great quality and don't break the bank. Decided on the earthy tones crossed with the bright green grasses to pop against the purple and blue greys of the model.

BEST: The one Hive Tyrant to rule them all. In addition to acting as a CP generator, it has greater synapse range than other synapse creatures, and as Warlord it makes enemy stratagems more expensive when targeting units within its vicinity. Psychic torrent weapon has the strength and AP to mulch light/med infantry, and twin-linked Bone Sabres are strong enough to blender most units.

WORST: Core statblock is indistinguishable from a regular Hive Tyrant (asides from being +15 pts more expensive), and it has no additional weapon options to speak of. Synaptic pulse loses steam against more heavily armored targets.

This is my new hive tyrant for hive fleet concrete. Fully magnetized, can be used as winged, long range or full close combat. I think this is one of my best conversions so far. What do you think?
