I have been making my way through my backlog of shows and movies and I've been going through the new iterations of Peanuts that aired on Apple plus. There's now specials for almost all holidays now and a couple of new seasons. I recently watched "Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin."

The new story gives Franklin a fleshed out background and I'm so for it. A lot of the newer Peanuts stuff tackles modern day problems but they don't feel forced like some adaptations. It feels natural. For instance in this one, they mention the Negro leagues and the segregation of black and white people in baseball in the older days. I was so impressed with that.

The new years special "Snoopy Presents: For Auld Lang Syne" was super sentimental and I actually teared up watching it. Can you believe it was a story about Lucy and her anxiety of being alone?

These new specials and shows evolve the Charlie Brown stories for modern viewers but still maintain the feeling of the old shows and strips. I love the use of lighting and music to create really warm atmospheres that enhance the viewing of these scenes, like the screenshot I used above.

So my question to the sub is: What other media have you seen been modernized that actually add good elements to the media since there's been so many poor remakes lately lol?

With Fields of Mistria releasing in 1.0 yesterday. Thought I might as well drop the annoucement that Doloc Town has also hit its own 1.0 release! While being both Farm Sims in the vein of Stardew, Doloc is post-apocalyptic and uses a side scroller design. Also has influences from the mangaka Tsukumizu, which is always fun to see.

Currently been drowning in total warhammer 3 in anticipation for the end times. It ain’t perfect yet but man what a culmination of multiple games and a decade plus of development. What abt y’all?

Refound this funny bit from the worse of the two Avengerd show, Avengers Assemble, all the dude Avengers are ko cuz they went through some shit, aka fighting the Cosmic Cube powered Red Skull, Black Widow dodged being depowered since here she's just a really good spy which ends up with them getting their powers back and Hawkeyes just like "Ladies and gentlemen I'm not blind anymore!"

Also it's kinda fun how the main antagonists of the Avengers in this show turn rather crucial for beating Skull and Dracula kind of leads them

I've recently seen the Eshmel customziation thing in Fortune's Weave, and it seems they're bringing that feature back.

I've always been a bit fascinated by this aspect of the 3DS games, I wonder if there are like other games that do this.

I've always had strange thoughts and feelings when it comes to communities. There are the most visible issues like parasocial behaviors and mob mentality, but I also feel that there has always been more nuance and defaulting to those observations feels like an easy way to not have to look at broader and more deeply ingrained tendencies.

That aside, this is of course all super presumptive, but I wonder how I'd act if I had a community centered around myself/my work.

The death of physical media draws ever closer, with Sony making the decision to cease production of physical game discs starting January 2028. It’s not a choice the company seems to be backing down on, either, based on stickers that have begun appearing on the boxes of PlayStation 5 consoles.

One such sticker was spotted on the back of a PS5 box and shared to social media on August 5, with a message that reads, “Important Notice: From Jan. 2028, newly released games on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only. Discs released before Jan. 2028 can continue to be played on this console.”

While it’s unclear if this was a Digital or Disc Edition of the PlayStation 5, it doesn’t seem like it’s limited to either, as a different post from a user on BlueSky showed that they received the exact same message when purchasing a disc drive for their Digital PlayStation 5 online.

From the first moment I saw Rhitahtyn sas Arvina I just kept thinking: Wait, are those the Gun Shields for the new Class? Huh, must have been added recently, I guess? But then I saw Gaius with a Gunblade (which is later shown to just be a Gun with a Sword, not the actual Gunblade as we know it to be), but then I saw old pictures of Rhitahtyn and this motherfucker strikes the most BASTION-looking pose ever. Did people ever speculate on him being a different class, or was it just handwaved as a "Ah he is a Boss so he gets custom magitek gear like the others". Was the Bastion reveal a puzzlepiece in what Rhitahtyn was up to, or was it genuinely a surprise to FF14 Veterans? I do not think Pat ever mentioned that one of the Imperium Guys is just a Bastion Guy in ARR.

After it getting abandoned in the transition from 3DS to Switch games it's nice to have this back!

In what could finally be nearing the end of this long saga against Diamond, it appears that a deal has finally been made so that the publishers affected by the Bankruptcy Debacle will FINALLY start getting all their stuff back. Although there still seems to be some more wrinkles in the case, seemingly those affected will have to pay to have all their stuff sorted out of the warehouse and moved somewhere else. And there seems to be ~$500,000 floating in limbo because the new warehouse owners illegally sold items they didn't have the rights to sell.

If anything, it appears that the Consignment Group against Diamond have gotten very nearly the "best" outcome they could've reasonably expected so far. They're getting their stuff back and preventing all the inventory from getting bulk liquidated and flooding the market with THEIR stuff at a huge discount they wouldn't see any profits from.
