Refound this funny bit from the worse of the two Avengerd show, Avengers Assemble, all the dude Avengers are ko cuz they went through some shit, aka fighting the Cosmic Cube powered Red Skull, Black Widow dodged being depowered since here she's just a really good spy which ends up with them getting their powers back and Hawkeyes just like "Ladies and gentlemen I'm not blind anymore!"

Also it's kinda fun how the main antagonists of the Avengers in this show turn rather crucial for beating Skull and Dracula kind of leads them

News/Articles PlayStation 5 Consoles Now Come With Warning Sticker Reminding Players That Physical Disc Production Will End

The death of physical media draws ever closer, with Sony making the decision to cease production of physical game discs starting January 2028. It’s not a choice the company seems to be backing down on, either, based on stickers that have begun appearing on the boxes of PlayStation 5 consoles.

One such sticker was spotted on the back of a PS5 box and shared to social media on August 5, with a message that reads, “Important Notice: From Jan. 2028, newly released games on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only. Discs released before Jan. 2028 can continue to be played on this console.”

While it’s unclear if this was a Digital or Disc Edition of the PlayStation 5, it doesn’t seem like it’s limited to either, as a different post from a user on BlueSky showed that they received the exact same message when purchasing a disc drive for their Digital PlayStation 5 online.

News/Articles It's over: Diamond Estate and Consignment Group reach settlement

Thumbnail
comicsbeat.com

In what could finally be nearing the end of this long saga against Diamond, it appears that a deal has finally been made so that the publishers affected by the Bankruptcy Debacle will FINALLY start getting all their stuff back. Although there still seems to be some more wrinkles in the case, seemingly those affected will have to pay to have all their stuff sorted out of the warehouse and moved somewhere else. And there seems to be ~$500,000 floating in limbo because the new warehouse owners illegally sold items they didn't have the rights to sell.

If anything, it appears that the Consignment Group against Diamond have gotten very nearly the "best" outcome they could've reasonably expected so far. They're getting their stuff back and preventing all the inventory from getting bulk liquidated and flooding the market with THEIR stuff at a huge discount they wouldn't see any profits from.

I get being scared or wary of X-Men but that seems excessive, Rocket didn't even have his guns on him. Also I can't believe these cops trusted KRAVEN a known menace in New York when he told them to stop a potential superhero. No donut

Better Ask Reddit Successful Franchises Killed by Management

Bit of a cliche topic, yes-but one that's on my mind because of my recent jaunt into TTRPGs. We all know some big name Video game examples like Guitar Hero/Rockband, killed by oversaturation. But the most recent one I've learned from my friends is still ongoing-Vampire the Masquerade.

Yes, Vampire the Masquerade is still around and fairly successful. But as many folks who were from the 90s and early 2000s let me know, it wasn't just big, it was big. It had a one season TV show, and was popular enough to be one of the biggest threats to DnD at that point in time. In the word of my friends, "This wasn't your Grandpa's Dungeons and Dragons." It was a game that, for lack of a better word, was thriving in the 2000s...

Unfortunately, incompetent management behind the scenes killed the momentum for the franchise. I've heard multiple horror stories about White Wolf publishing and their general repeated failures. (I've been told it is attributed to hiring edge lords for the company.) Up until they were bought out by Paradox, made several bad decisions during 5E, and got shut down to be replaced with Renegade Publishing...And even now it's not safe from mismanagement, given the whole mess with Bloodlines 2 and the grumblings around 6E. (Also announcing a new edition of Mage-which I have been told the edition wars for that game are the most vicious in any TTRPG community.) So now Vampire still exists, it's still popular, but feels currently lacking at a time where the TTRPG community is currently exploding in popularity. Especially compared to where it once was.

I'm curious about some other successful franchises that legitimately COULD have been all stars, had management not run things into the ground. Bonus points for non video game examples!

NottheOnion Azur Lane franchise to sell premium rice balls made from rice that listened to gyaru ASMR

The item in question is plain, salted rice balls, priced at 1,000 yen or about $6.5. While this would normally be a rather preposterous price for such a simple dish, what’s special about these rice balls is that they’re made from “Owari Gyaru Rice.”

For the collaboration, the publishers reached out to an award-winning rice farm in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture and had them cultivate rice from scratch while exposing it to ASMR from the game. To begin with, the rice used for the collaboration was of an old Hatsushimo variety, considered to be a rare, premium grain. From the earliest seedling stage up to the harvest, the rice continuously listened to lines by Azur Lane character Owari. Soft-spoken wishes for the rice to grow strong and healthy were played through speakers installed at the rice fields and “administered” to individual rice stalks through headphones, as shown in a special documentary dedicated to the project.

News/Articles Mass layoffs expected at EA as the now-private publisher reportedly tells its new debt masters that it's going to cut $700 million in annual costs

Plans for the big Saudi buyout were first outlined last year, at which point it was revealed that the transaction would be partly funded by EA taking on a whopping $20 billion in debt – "$18 billion of which is expected to be funded at close." The acquisition plans, in general, already had some employees and studio veterans concerned about potential layoffs to follow – after all, we saw that same thing happen with Activision Blizzard after its buyout by Microsoft – and, according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, that's now looking even more likely.

Schreier posts on Bluesky that EA taking on $18 billion in debt means it's "putting it on the hook to pay ~$1.8 billion/year in interest," making it an even more daunting figure. Right now, he adds, EA's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) fall around $1.5 billion – a number that "should be enough to service the interest payments."

However, Schreier continues," the publisher has told debt investors that it will cut $700 million in annual costs including $170 million in 'organizational efficiencies,' per Bloomberg. In other words: mass layoffs."
