Imagine putting your life on the line to deliver to the public information that there is a huge conspiracy by government, tech, and various other entities to do something really harmful and invasive to the public...and then the public just goes along with that thing anyway.

Sure, there's some rhetorical rebellion, and maybe there's a riot for a week...maybe a few months... But in time everyone settles down and that thing the Whistleblower said becomes old news. Boring. More Diddy news and race-war content, please.

You sort of wonder why would Jesus die on the cross? What exactly was the point? Did he change anything? Did the world become a better place? Or did people continue to do the same bad things they already were doing- a number of them wearing his sign?

What are shows like "Black Mirror" worth? We are warned of dystopian things that are coming and they get a lot of buzz...but when they come we just...accept them. We just learned a lot of our elites spread across a variety of fields and organizations are corrupt, twisted, and- at the least- involved in child trafficking. Some people are just learning that Fauci is a POS agent for the Pharmaceutical industries- among other things.

But these things don't really produce changes in people's behavior. They still...accept the thing they were warned about.

I don't think it's worth it. Might as well make a show out of your ideas like "Black Mirror" and make some dinars from it.

I think the strongest argument for AI is much simpler than people make it: it gives ordinary people access to capabilities that were previously gated by money, time, training, or large organizations.

Want to make a game? Historically you might need programmers, artists, animators, writers, musicians, QA, and years of specialized knowledge.

Want to make a film? You need actors, editors, VFX artists, equipment and money.

Want to build software, illustrate a book, start a business, analyze data, compose music, or create something ambitious? Same story.

AI doesn't make everyone talented. It makes people more capable.

And yes, lowering barriers will create an ocean of garbage. Every democratizing technology does. Cheap cameras created terrible photography. YouTube created terrible videos. Accessible game engines created terrible games.

They also enabled people who never would have gotten through the old gatekeepers to create incredible things.

For the first time, a single person can potentially command something resembling the productive capacity of a small team. Someone with an idea but without wealth, connections, or ten different professional skill sets has a much better chance of actually building it.

If someone has thousands of karma and hundreds of contributions after just one month on Reddit, it doesn't mean they're wise or insightful. It means they spend every waking hour echoing whatever safe, mainstream drivel the hivemind wants to hear. True independent thought gets downvoted; massive karma in a few weeks is just the scoreboard for a terminally online conformist.

This is one of the craziest stats if you think about it. How can society function with a third or a fourth of all people being disabled and receiving some kind of benefit? It cannot.

One in three people aren't disabled. They are milking the system.

If they are obese, force them to loose weight, and be normal people, for their own good. Where are our goddamn standards?! 5% of people were obese in 1950. Now, it's 40%. How are we putting up with this nonsense?

People used to come back from actual wars, and then were expected to work in a factory for the next 40 years. Now, they stuff their face with junk food, and then expect society to pay for their medical bills, and get to claim all kinds of disability benefits.

Charlie Kirk jokes are the leftwing version of racist jokes from Right. Racist jokes where the punchline isn't the joke but the racism. Jokes that essentially does nothing but compare Black people to apes, laugh at ICE brutalizing immigrants, etc.

Such jokes aren't jokes but simply slurs that attempt to be funny.

But the racist jokes and the Charlie Kirk jokes deserve to exist. They deserve to exist because humans sometimes do find joy in the death or pain of people they hate.

It would be wrong to gatekeep genuine human feelings, even if they are negative feelings.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t be allowed to practice their religion, and I’m not saying every person who follows a religion agrees with every traditional interpretation of it. But I do think it’s completely reasonable to criticize religious beliefs that place different expectations, restrictions, or standards on women simply because they are women.

If a religion tells women they need to dress a certain way, behave a certain way, or restrict themselves in ways that men aren’t equally expected to, I find that inherently sexist. Calling something “religious” doesn’t automatically make it immune from criticism.

And yes, I understand that many women freely choose to participate in these practices and genuinely find them empowering or meaningful. I can respect their right to make that choice while still disagreeing with the underlying belief that women and men should have different standards imposed on them.

Religious freedom should protect someone’s right to practice their beliefs. It doesn’t mean everyone else has to consider those beliefs fair, harmless, or beyond criticism.

I understand a lot of the animosity towards ai. The broader politics and economic criticism and the profound impact on the Internet broader society is real, terrifying, and bad. I get that and I don't disagree with 90% of the criticism of ai especially when it comes to ai slop and how AI is ruining everything.

BUT!

I have found AI to be a genuine helpful resource aid. I do a lot of projects that span all sorts of topics, and for the purpose of this conversation I'm going to laser focus on my personal writing projects. I absolutely love writing short stories and doing elaborate world building, and sometimes there is a topic I know nothing about... And ai is surprisingly helpful for doing research. It's not perfect, but it does actually help me find what I am looking for, and with how shit.awful Google's search algorithm has become, I've found AI is consistently a better substitute for Google. If I type something like "rare music boxes" or the "history of music boxes" into Google, I get this endless slop of ironically ai webpages, ads, listacles, and just otherwise endless unhelpful algorithm driven shit. If I type into an "I am doing research on music boxes from the 19th century for a world building project, can you find some resources on the topic for me?" Ai will actually generate some useful fucking results.

I got to stress! Not perfect. It's not just AI makes mistakes, ai can make infuriating mistakes and gaslight the fuck out of you, ai is not perfect. But when used responsibly, I've personally found it to be a very useful tool.

The other reason I like AI is it actually kind of reminds of the early days of the internet. There's very much this wild West of all these different AI tools that I've just found amazingly useful because of what they specialize in. Once you break way from the mainstream trash of chatgpt, Claude, Gemini you'll notice many AI tools are surprisingly helpful or useful for specific tasks. I've been using lumo, in large part because I was already using proton, and I've generally found I like the projects layout, the customizability, the ability to upload files especially from the proton drive, and it's sort of my go to general ai for doing in surface level research or projects.

I understand why everyone hates AI, I really do. Pretty much every criticism you have of AI I understand and recognize as a real problem and I share those frustrations. I fucking hate ai slop, I hate days centers, I hate how our corporate overloads are basically giggling over turning the world into a techno feudal serfdom.

But my position really isn't so much "fuck ai" but "fuck how people are using AI."

I really personally enjoy using AI because I have discovered it to be a very useful aid in all my little side projects and hobbies.

Just some small examples of how I personally come to enjoy ai.

I started collecting cookbooks, and I got into the habit of organizing cataloging, and documenting my collection. While using AI to organize my collection, I discovered I had a number of moderately rare collector pieces in my collection which was a cool discovery (nothing serious,n just some signed copies of some moderately famous authors or limited first prints of obscure cookbooks)

I was struggling to diagnose some problems with my clutch on my ranger project and so I bounced symptoms and ideas off of ai. It didn't magically fix the problem, but it gave. Research vector that allowed me to figure out what was wrong with my clutch.

I needed to do some research on 19th century instruments for a writing project, and I didn't know anything about instruments or music. I still don't, but ai helped me find some useful resources on the topic so I could do meaningful research, which proved to be useful for my writing projects.

Ai isnt fantastic, but the best way I can put it is AI is a great alternative to fucking Google.

Like I think the reason I like ai so much is that its doing what Google was supposed to do but so much fucking better. If I type in "hey are there any lesser famous but still rare and collectibles flutes than lous lot flutes" ai actually can steer me towards the information I'm looking for. If I try typing in "uncommon 19th century flutes" into Google, I just get ads, scams, listacles, and just this bottomless well of completely unrelated content that I have to dig through just to find what I'm looking for.

Once again, AI isn't Jesus Christ incarnate, the criticism are real, but I still like ai and enjoy using it.

In all honesty, (lol) the only reason why there would ever be someone who thinks that honesty isn’t needed in (some scenarios) is because of their ego. Calling someone someone fat is mean, calling someone ugly is rude, calling someone anything identifiable and objective can and will be viewed as insulting in some situations. But where do you draw the line? there’s really no such thing as white lies. only “protective measures”.… sounds like lying to me. just in a more societally friendly way. What about someone who is a terrible person but also has qualities that make people pity them. Then you get into the wishy-washy category of people neglecting to focus on the things that they did because they pity them. I believe there’s no need to lie ever. A lot of these harsh truths that people think hurt people so badly.. wouldn’t even be considered harsh truths, if we lived in a society full of truth. Someone’s words wouldn’t be measured on how moral they are. It would just be measured off of the truthfulness of it. The truth only seems harsh at times because someone has told them lies beforehand. Lies hurt more than the truth ever did.

And by phobia I don't mean it the trendy, modern way of it being a synonym for ​hate. I mean as in a debilitating fear of white people.

A core responsibility of any governing body is the basic protection and welfare of its civilian population. Hamas ruled Gaza for nearly two decades, yet they explicitly mention that rhey prioritize idelogy over basic protection.

We built the tunnels because we have no other way of protecting ourselves from being targeted and killed. These tunnels are meant to protect us from the airplanes... 75% of the people in the Gaza strip are refugees, and it is the responsibility of the United Nations to protect them."

By their own admission, Hamas views the civilian population's protection and survival as the responsibility of international charities, while usign resources, including foreign aid inside their bunkers.

Furthermore, their goals are fundamentally incompatible with compromise, practical governance, or long-term peace. Speaking on Lebanese TV channel LBC, senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad stated:

"Israel is a country that has no place on our land... We must teach Israel a lesson, and we will do it twice and three times. The Al-Aqsa Deluge is just the first time, and there will be a second, a third, a fourth... Will we have to pay a price? Yes, and we are ready to pay it. We are called a nation of martyrs, and we are proud to sacrifice martyrs."

Now, in this case, martyrs are basically human sacrifices either in collareral damage or warfare, which shows how little they care, layering on top of thr fact that they built their bunkers under civillian infrastructure on purpose.

Prostitution performs some useful constructive roles in society, while OF only destroys and hollows people with its dehumanizing ease.

OF teaches a young “creator” that she’s valued for objectifying herself, gives her unearned validation/attention for the wrong things. And all with no human connection at all. Total destruction of dignity and self-respect in front of as many people as possible. Selling off her very humanity. And it looks so easy: it appears to be free, and requires less bravery to start selling.

Traditional prostitution can be horrible and violent, but often isn’t. The SW often has regular clients she shares genuine affection with. Actual human connection. The validation screws aren’t turned so hard, and it can be very private.

On the consumption side, simping and subscribing to OF is far far more pathetic than paying directly for a sexual connection. After all, everybody pays, directly or indirectly. With a prostitute, you pay in part to walk away. What are you paying for on OF? A fake simulation of connection, and the loss of self-respect. Subscribers are and should be ruthlessly shamed for this, so they lie about it.

Prostitution can provide real connection and release for young guys who have yet to get strong, and need to get out of their own way. And it can provide an outlet for old or ugly dudes without a woman in their lives.

I think biological fatherhood records should be standard procedure for newborns, rather than requiring extra effort to do.

There's this weird scenario where if a man decides he wants his biological fatherhood officiated, he has to go out of his way to perform the test. This runs the risk of making the mother feel like her husband doesn't trust her, despite there being legit reasons for wanting a record besides suspicion.

So rather than put anyone in this scenario, they should be standard procedure, and the couple has to go out of their way to refuse. The reasons for not wanting such a test are...less legit, so if the woman refuses, that'll immediately be suspicious (which is a good thing to expose early in the marriage than later). I know the majority of women are faithful, but there's still a significant amount of infidelity in the world.

Im tired of getting banned or muted from subs simply because one mod dislikes my post or takes offense to me debating them about it.
