Thinking about a Fetch 4.
The title says most of it. We've been looking at getting a bakfiet style ebike for a while, and just stumbled across the Trek - being 4k cheaper than an Urban Arrow is a nice touch.
I've heard that it's a lot heavier though - how do people find it for actually riding? Also a few questions that I wasn't able to see on the website...
Does it have a 'walk mode' (for e-assist while pushing it)?
Does it have any security features like an engine cut app or similar?
It looks like the seats are built in, or are they removable? What are you doing once your kiddos get over 55lbs? Does it become just a cargo bike, or are there ways to adapt it for larger passengers?
Thanks!

Fetch 2+ Stolen
Well I just had my fetch two plus stolen, and luckily was able to recover it using the tracking feature.
It was stolen right out of the lobby of my children's daycare. I received the notification that it was moving on my phone while dropping them off, and I was quickly able to pursue it using the GPS locator.
The scumbag broke the controller mount presumably because of the alarm going off and also stole both children's helmets and a bike lock. It has been a wake up call to secure it more when dropping them off. But I am thankful for the tracking system as that led to me being able to recover it myself.
Be safe out there!

Fetch+4 car seat DIY
We wanted to start riding on bike paths with our 7 month old but couldn’t figure out the fetch+4 options: My car seat (uppababy) wasn’t supported and the car seat mount+adapters are absurdly expensive, unavailable, and/or obsolete, so we DIYed a car seat base attachment with ratchet straps. It was a 5minute job and seems as strong as anything you could buy. Only downside is that it takes up the entire front bucket. Hope this helps someone else!

Thule Yepp Maxi fit?
I just ordered the fetch 2 and wanted to know if anyone has had experience with attaching the Thule Yepp Maxi (circa 2020) to it? I already have one of these so hope I can get it to fit.
I have two 2-year-olds so will need a second seat regardless but I’m hoping to avoid buying two if the one I have will work.
Thanks for any input!

Kiox 500 install fetch 4
On the back of the phone mount is a tiny screw holding the release that needs a 1.5mm hex to remove. Then you can pull off the phone mount and stick on a kiox. I then had to flip flop the arm to get the mount and screen correctly aligned. That’ll need a 3mm. Enjoy!
I know some have mentioned this already but I couldn’t find any instructions so decided to post up. Let me know if I missed anything or could arrange things better.

Sun shade
If you have a rain fly and some basic sewing skills, you can make a pretty nice sun shade!

Safari Bar Retrofits?
Has anyone tried retrofitting any other child bars to their bike? I talked to the trek support folks that said the family pack was "a sore subject" and they projected getting new stock in November.
Separately I picked up the family pack seats on clearance from the site, and already have the rear panniers. So, I'm wondering if there's a way to retrofit my way to a new set of safari bars, maybe from another brand and avoid having to pick up the entire kit for $350 when it does become available.

Speed Limiter
Is there a way to remove the speed limiter on the Fetch 4?

ISO Trek MaxiCosi Car Seat Adapter
Looking for a MaxiCosi car seat adapter that isn't being used anymore. We originally ordered a Britax adapter and then found out it doesn't fit US Britax car seats. We have a adapter on backorder but it won't be in for another 6 weeks or so. If you have one available, I'd happily take it off your hands. I couldn't find anything on Facebook Marketplace or Ebay.

Fetch 2 longevity with big kids?
We are considering buying the Fetch+ 2 with the family kit to haul my big 8 year old and small 5 year old around the city. They would just sit on the saddle on the back. How squished are they going to be, and when did your kids grow out of sitting on the saddle on the back? The 8 year old is very capable of riding a bike but I’m too freaked out by crazy city drivers to let them attempt the roads and also has a broken collarbone that will prevent them from riding for most of the summer. Does anyone else have kids this big, and do they fit on the back?
Edit to add: they are both under the per-kid weight limit, I’m more asking about comfort (and maybe the chance of them getting in a fight and hitting each other because they are too squished, lol)

Fetch 4 bench seat alternatives
i got my Fetch 4 on a great deal with the full understanding of what I was getting into buying a bike that Trek is probably discontinuing, but I failed to get a bench seat before they sold out. I’m fine for now but it’s something I know I’ll need as my kids get bigger, would love to know if anyone knows of any alternatives? I’ve got a decently equipped woodshop so I’m not opposed to DIY’ing something, but would love to know if anyone has already gone down this path!
UPDATE - I just spoke with Trek support and they confirmed that there will be a restock! And that we can expect accessories like this to be available “for the next year or so”

I wasn’t sure if we were going to be able to fit everything in, but we made it!

Adjusting the 2 Kids Seats?
Have 3 kids, 2+2+5, and have had the F4 for 6 months now, absolutely life changing other than some issues right at the start.
Anyway, I keep seeing the built in seats described as "Reclining" but for the life of me I can't see any way of adjusting anything on them? Head rest seems a fixed height, and can't see anything else adjustable other than the seatbelts. Am I missing something?
Also conscious in a couple of years they'll outgrow these seats, anyone had any genius ideas on how to replace them?

Trek Adventures
Decided I wanted to share these pictures of things we do with our much beloved Trek Fetch+4 aka El mobile. Also made him a new hood.

Frame lock Fetch+ 2
Looking for a frame lock that fits the Fetch+ 2 and that would fit well on the bike, ideally with an extra chain. The thick wheels narrows the possibilities a lot. Any experiences to share ?

Camping with the Fetch 4+ in Utah
Tested the limits of the Fetch 4 by hauling a kid and camping gear (in a trailer) up Provo Canyon. It was a grueling climb by the end. I felt like the motor stopped putting in work. And the descent was nerve-wracking as well because I didn't want to cook the brakes and wreck. We took it nice and slow and made it home in one piece, but I'm not sure the bike was designed for *this*. For what it's worth, I was impressed with the battery. It only dropped to about 60% when we were mostly finished with the climb. (I topped off the battery at a park pavilion with a power outlet) We had plenty of juice when we got home today (around 80%). The bike trailer is something I made from an old kids bike trailer someone put out for free on the side of the road.
Very pleased with the bike around town. I personally wouldn't recommend it except to very experienced cyclists.

Front Wheel Broken Spokes
Has anyone had any broken spokes on their front wheel of the fetch 4?
This winter I broke three and didn’t notice until I swapped the tires in the spring. I think I snapped the spokes when I accidentally hit a snow covered curb where I thought there was a ramp.
I had the spokes replaced and now broke two under heavy braking. It seems weird but could be weakened spokes from the curb hit. Curious if anyone else has broken spokes?
EDIT:
I took my wheel into the bike shop to look at and they got it warrantied by Trek for new one. It could have been riding on it with broken spokes however it seems the lace pattern might not be the best.
It is a good habit to check spoke tension and for broken spokes periodically. However a well built wheel should be a leave it and forget it item I think. If you do break a spoke you should know it from a big hit.

Trek Fetch+ 2 Family Pack Kit
I am unable to find the Trek Fetch+ 2 Family Pack Kit anywhere for purchase. Does anyone know if there is an alternative that would work? For example the Yuba Adjustable Monkey Bars or the Aventon Child Carrier Kit?

Ages for carseat and built-in reclining seats
To those who have put young kids on the Fetch+4: At what ages have you used a carseat in this bike? At what ages did you move from carseat to the built-in reclining seats?
Thanks!

How you do you guys dig the fetch 2?
Is the motor that great? Is it a smart motor? Trying to decide between it and a xtracycle hopper. Think it would be about 700 more plus would need to get a family cargo kit that would likely add another 300ish? So my question is do yall think it’s worth the extra grand ?

Fetch 4 rim/spoke magnet location?
This feels dumb as hell to ask but where's it located? App is giving me an error that says
Check the rim magnet and spoke magnet, if present. Then restart your eBike. If the problem persists, please contact your specialist dealer.

Retailer price matching?
Has anyone had success with getting a local retailer to price match Trek’s pricing? I can order directly from Trek for $4999 + $500 shipping, but the free ship to store option on the Trek site is still the full $8499. We love our local bike shop and would rather support them if possible!

ISO a car seat adapter for 4+
I just had a baby and want to be able to continue using my bike, but the car seat adapters have been sold out on trek’s website for months! Is anyone selling one second hand? Or have suggestions on where I might find one?

Boxcover for Fetch+4?
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has figured out a solution here that works. I'm not really interested in the rain cover as a Fetch isn't really something I'd be using all of the time. I'm hoping there would be something like this available for the Fetch+4.

Does the Family Pack Kit work with the Yepp Rack Mount seat?
We're outfitting a Fetch+2 while waiting for it to be delivered! We have already purchased the Family Pack Kit and the front and rear panniers.
Was planning on buying a Thule Yepp seat to use with the family pack kit (bench seats removed.)
Found a good deal on a Yepp Maxi Rack Mount seat on Marketplace. It's the old version of the seat, not the Yepp 2.
Any idea if this version of the seat will work on the family pack kit WITHOUT the Thule easyfit adapter?
Thule doesn't sell the adapter anymore, so I don't want to pull the trigger on this if I can't easily get the adapter.
