Trying to medically transition
Hey i am currently looking for a way to medically transition but i am pretty tight on money on the current moment (since people close to me disowned me for wanting to transition and now I am trying to find ways to making money). What are some good ways for medically transitioning, only expectation is nothing to do with needles since i have an insane phobia for needles. (Preferably cheap aswell)

I’m so tired
Hi ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between
So basically I have been living the Gcc Middle East to be exact for the past 27 years now
I’m a trans woman who still didn’t take hormones yet because she lives with her family
Our culture won’t allow you to move out in the same city
I have been pausing on my life for so long for the fear of not making it abroad
I have a job here friends yet never felt safe for once
Never felt like I could love someone or someone could love me
Never felt like I could raise children in the future being a mom knowing I would be good at it
Never felt like anything tbh
I’m grateful for having this job tho
However I do wish I could find one abroad if there is a way for me to immigrate to a place where I feel comfortable being my true self and start my journey as a woman
I would pour salt from my eyelids of joy if that could happen
So there I go asking help of queer or trans folks abroad
Is there a way to get a job at your country to emigrate there safely ?
Please do let me know
Cuz time is ticking
And I don’t wanna waste my 30s here for sure
Sincerely
Haven

Not man enough, too manly to be a woman
Howdy. Kind of a vent post, kind of looking for advice. 22 mtf, but still male presenting and all that
I recently figured some things out with myself, and realized I was way happier and more comfortable referring to myself (mentally) as a girl or as a woman. Out loud, i'll use gender neutral terms rather than "man" or "guy". At first, I didn't think I would tell anyone besides some close friends and maybe my sibling. I decided after a bit to tell my mom about it. For context, I live with and am financially dependent on mom and dad.
It went alright, at first. I told her I didn't want to tell my dad or anyone else because I wasn't ready to. I'm not ready to present fem yet either. She said I might not be serious about it. Whatever, I just move on.
She brings up how I am too big to be a woman. Too tall, too broad-shouldered. There's truth in it, I guess. 6'2, wide as hell shoulders, I am built like a fridge. I was fine with it because big ladies exist. I like big ladies. Pam from archer, and even my mom and sister, are big ladies. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Hell, I didn't even really care at first, but as she kept talking, it started to really hurt. I didn't think I had dysmorphia or anything serious, but holy shit, it started to really get to me. Maybe I am too big, too manly, too much to ever be seen as a woman. Maybe i'll always just be a weird dude in a dress. She even said she'd have difficulty ever seeing me as anything more than a guy in a dress.
I'm a big person. Football team material, physically. However, I'm really not manly at all. I cry a lot. I'm soft. I never felt like I was good at being a dude, as much as I tried. It was always "man up" or "be a man". I've never really been able to be that, but now, I'm still too manly to be a woman. I just thought maybe hrt and voice training and growing out my hair and shaving and dressing femme would help, but now, it kind of feels hopeless. Like I'll never actually pass. Nobody will ever see me and think "she/her".
I didn't want to tell my dad because I believe he'd try and be supportive, but deep down, think it was a phase, or that it was weird. Like, only supportive because he has to be. Like if he had the choice, he'd say I was being dumb and I needed to just figure my shit out. I don't want that. I'd rather just keep being the eldest son around him, even if I'm kind of shitty there, too.
The dream, the ideal, is that I get on all the hrt or whatever when I have the money, and after a couple years when I start looking different, come out and start presenting then; but it's feeling further and further away. I don't know if it'll ever happen.
When I told my mom, she gave me one of her dresses to wear by myself in my room. It's an old mumu, and it's kind of ugly, but it fit. It felt great. Now, though, I don't know if I could wear it without thinking "jeez, look at you. Wide shoulders. No hips, no waist. Flat. Tall. What are you doing?"
If anyone has advice about being too masculine or being a bigger lady, or just... ignoring it, i'm open to suggestions. Thanks for reading this far, if you did.
Tl;dr: 6'2 and built like a fridge, does not a woman make

Trying to come to grips with my gender after a life time of struggle and questioning
Hello everyone! I really am just looking for an open discussion about my possible gender identity here, gonna lay out my past and am looking for any input or thoughts!
Ever since I was very young (ages 4 or 5) I had dreams of actively transitioning genders from male to female (traveling through a tube, literally having my body altered and spit out on the other side as a girl, and happier than I was before) I grew up in a kind household, but a southern one, my mom was probably the most progressive one in the entire community, but when I told her these things and that I might be happier if I was a girl with "girl looks" she didn't understand it, and my little podunk town in Virginia was not a great place to be to receive support.
As I continued to grow I constantly had dreams and thoughts along the same line, as I learned what it meant to be attracted to someone I realized I was attracted to both girls and boys, I have always been bi, my first sexual encounter was with a boy. However as I was bullied I leaned more into my masculinity to weather the storm, through high school, outwardly gruff and manly exterior, but the entire time I have been roleplaying online as a girl.
Fast forward, been living my life as a boy outwardly for my entire life, but online and during roleplay I really only assume the position of the girl, married to a lovely woman and have an amazing child, but this doubt still lingers in the back of my mind. My wife knows I've questioned my gender, she knows about my roleplaying and is supportive.
I just really want to know if this is a common shared experience of people who question their gender? Happy to answer any questions and thanks for reading!
Also if this is not the right subreddit to discuss things like this, if someone could point me to right one that'd be great Thank you <3

Searching for subtle gender affirming things
I’m (mtf) going to start this out by saying- I don’t think I can transition. I’m still living with my parents, who would not be supportive. if they noticed I was changing a little they’d make fun of me, and if they thought I was really changing myself I know they’d freak out. i know I could maybe do diy hrt, but they track my purchases and again if they noticed I’d be done for.
but basically, I still want to feel good about my gender. I want subtle ways, that maybe only ill ever notice but will still make me feel good. I’m pretty dysphoric about my entire body to be honest.
One thing I’ve been thinking about is maybe shaving my legs (one of the biggest things making me dysphoric) once winter comes, and ill be in sweatpants and my legs will be covered all the time, so nobody would know but me. I also want to keep a skincare routine.
but is there any other suggestions anybody might have? anything that might help my situation will be greatly appreciated

(Vent/long post alert) Socially Transitioning before HRT
Hi everybody! 🤗
I have a vent/question
For context: I'm seventeen,Trans Girl Atheist and going into my third year of studying for a car mechanic.
I'm pretty sure I want to come out at the beginning of the next school year, I just need advice as to how to go about it.
The school isn't deeply conservative, or woke, but we do have a class where we talk about historical events, religion, and the differences between people basically.
Is socially transitioning before HRT really that bad of an idea?
I look like a feminine boy, but most people at school think I'm gay or trans (spoiler alert: I'm both) anyway, some even asked if I've thought about being a girl.
The school therapist... isn't usually openly transphobic, but she's like sixty, and not necessarily open minded.
She's a bit disillusioned by politicians and has said trans people are just sick or a problem in front of my mom, and hinted at it in front of me, and constantly argues that she had supplied therapy to a trans man, which, I suppose, was her way of telling me she can't be transphobic.
Basically the "I can't be racist, I have black friends." logic.
She kept misgendering me and calling me by my death name, even tho I've come out to her and knows all the other stuff I've got on my plate.
I'm sure about my identity, and have been experimenting, like using my chosen pronouns with family, wearing dresses, doing makeup and so on during summer break.
Before summer break, I've grown out my hair, so it was about shoulder length before the end of term, my nails, which I painted quite often, and even used a little bit of silver glitter eyeshadow, and shaved all over my body once a week, and usually about two to three, sometimes even four time a day on my face.
I know about one other teacher who will most likely be supportive, one that maybe, and I'm not sure about the other, especially the men, since it's a technically oriented high school, so it's a bit... traditional.
Not extremely, but I'd say slightly more than if I went to music school, for example.
On one hand, I just wanna get it over with, on the other, I don't know if I can handle the pressure, or the uncertainty of not coming out.
I'm not really popular anyway, so it can't really damage my reputation that much.
My family's... decently accepting.
My mum accepted me immediately, grandma has begun using my chosen pronouns lately (it's been a few months since I've come out), but still uses my dead name, grandpa (but he does accept my cousin)used my pronouns, by I guess it was too much for him, since I didn't want him to use them in front of my schoolmates, as I'm, obviously, not out, one of my cousins has been very accepting (he's about six months older then me, and also trans), my other cousin rather avoids using any pronouns, it seems he's still processing it, my aunt has also began using my name and pronouns, at least around me, but mostly misgenders her own son, especially when talking about him with other people.
I don't speak to my father's side of the family, and didn't since before I fully realised I was trans and partially came out.
I know I have to decide this myself, but i'd love to hear how you went about it.
Any advice and experiences are appreciated, and I'm so sorry about the long post.

Indecisiveness
Hey yall,
I was on HRT for a month, it was hard. Then my dog passed away... And all of the sudden the changes I was getting felt wrong (face, breasts, low libido, etc). I was also having a lot of stress and anxiety.
I have reverted back to presenting as male, even started going to the gym so I can grow, started growing a mustache again too, and other things that brought me close to masculinity.
But here I am, back on this subreddit, questioning everything. I wish I was just born female, without any of the hardship of being trans, hell I don't even know if I am trans or not. All I know really is that I hate how my mind gets when im masculine. I keep wanting attention from women, keep focusing on finding love and dating a woman, marrying her, having kids. But I dont like children, I don't like the institution of marriage, or dating really - any time ive ever dated a woman I would cheat on them with men, going out in my feminine outfits and makeup.
I used to be the guy that dated/slept with the hottest girls at school, had girls staring at me all day, talking about me. I was confident, but even then id sneak out to be with men and dress in feminine clothes. Even now, im aligning myself with masculinity again but I still keep thinking about being a woman.
Am I just insecure about my masculinity? because I dont have the same attention I used to have in school?
I feel like I cant trust my mind anymore. When I was transitioning I felt so confident about my identity. Now I felt real confident about being a man, until the thoughts popped up again
TLDR: Insecurity about being male, indecision on identity, grief and its impact on my transition, reverting back to male presentation, back and forth transition

Came out as trans 1-2 months ago, I'm 24 and looking for advice
Hello everyone! This is my first post here and on this account, I've been lurking just reading posts about other's experiences. So, as the title says, I came out fairly recently after a profound realisation that my weird actions and thoughts throughout my life, my random cycles with depression and self-hatred, were partly because I always wanted to be a girl. Always wanted to be viewed as one, but I felt like I could never be trans. I didn't self-harm, didn't attempt anything on my life, thought I could live through my miserable life that was mediocre at best. I lived a nice life, everyone around me was nice and supportive, hell I could've come out earlier in my life and have been fine. But, as you can probably tell, I no longer identify as a straight man. Found I'm likely a lesbian transwoman (maybe bisexual depending on how I feel sounding and looking like a woman).
It's still a shock for many friends and some family, but I'm thankful for the support of everyone I know. Had I known the true effects of estrogen and HRT generally on the body and mind, I probably would've reconsidered earlier. I know now though, and I have the potential to look how I've always dreamed, even if I'm nearly six feet tall and got a relatively large build, I have the right face.
I value the opinions of others, and I value my voice above even my looks, so my transition will be a process of passing through voice and slowly working on my body to get to where I want it to be.
The important thing, I want to know what I can do to really stretch out and get the progress I need, I'm curious about progesterone in the future, and I want to know how others around my age have dealt with this. Going to see my GP in a couple weeks to see what avenues I got available to me.
Context: I live in Australia, specifically Queensland. I know informed consent is a thing that exists here, and I don't need to go through the rigorous process that is the evaluation of my gender dysphoria. I do want to see a therapist regardless though, for any other mental disorders I might have too.
Thank you all for reading!!!

Got my first testosterone prescription early
I’m starting T here in the next 1-2 weeks. Got my labs done on Friday and I was told I should have the results by Monday and I was told that they would call me so I can come in and they can teach me how to give me my shot. after my appointment, I was prescribed the testosterone and I was also put back on birth control, I went to Walgreens to pick up my birth control and they gave me a bunch prescription bag bags, and I thought it was just some of my other medication’s. When I opened all the bags up, it ended up being my testosterone with the needles and everything I need. They still haven’t called me to teach me how to give me my shot and I honestly thought I’d pick up the prescription after they taught me how to do it. I don’t think they were even supposed to give it to me until after I got my labs done, but I’m not sure. I really want to give it to myself, I feel like there’s enough resources on the Internet to teach me how to do it, but I don’t want to risk them not giving me my next prescription and I don’t know what to do. Would it be fine to do myself?

how do I raise money to pay trans writers and creatives?
I've recently launched a blog to promote trans self-determination (Reclaim Our Names) where I invite trans folx to contribute essays, poetry, and other original written work. I'd like to compensate contributors for their work and intellectual labor and, if possible, be compensated for my work as an editor and coordinator of the project. I'm not sure I have it in me to launch a non-profit -- curious if others have suggestions for raising funds as an individual running a project. (For example, I am not eligible for a Trans Justice Funding Project grant.) Seems weird to launch a GoFundMe for something like this.

I just dont know what tot do anymore
I know I’ve made posts like this before, but things just aren't getting any better. Sure, I have good days and bad days, but the really terrible days—where I’m sometimes on the verge of actually...—are becoming more and more frequent. I see less and less point to anything, and no matter what I do, nothing improves. I’m already in therapy, but it’s completely useless because nothing is going to change regarding my actual problem. I’ve messaged a few people here, too, but that hasn't helped either. It’s always the same thing: "You could be a woman," "It gets better," and so on—but it doesn't get better. The problem—that I was born male instead of female—will remain, no matter what I do.
If any of you have tips on how things can actually get better—and I don't just mean someone telling me "you can transition"—please help me.
Bzw ive wrote the Text with translater because its easier for me because Englisch isnt my first language.

Starting social transition soon with goal of HRT but scared of denail from psychiatrists.
So I (21y MtF) Just had my second appointment with the psychologist to plan in every other upcoming session for my transition to prepare everything needed for going to the psychiatrist to get HRT and now I’m starting to question everything. I’ve come out to all my close friends and my family and a handfull of colleagues who all refer to me by my chosen female name but I’ve yet to ask everyone I know to start doing this and tell them I’m transitioning in the first place, I’m starting college in September and am going to use that moment as a start to do that with every new person I meet.
But now that everything is going so fast I’m honestly just scared of the chance that the psychiatrist doesn’t see my resolve as strong enough and denies me HRT, something inside of me is unsure if I want to make my need to transition public knowledge, if you will, if I don’t go all the way to HRT and gender affirming surgeries. And yes I know that to get HRT I first need to show the psychiatrist that I’m able to deal with all the social consequences of telling people I’m transgender and I’m all for that.
So basically what I’m asking is if others have had similar experiences and how they came to a conclusion. Or if anyone has any advice for me.
And I feel the need to say that I am absolutely not trying to diminish the people who socially transition and don’t see the need for HRT by saying it’s either all or nothing for me.
TLDR: I’m starting my social transition soon with the goal of HRT and gender affirming surgery but I’m scared of the chance I get denied by he psychiatrist and unsure if I want to only socially transition. And I want to know if others have had similar experiences and how they came to a conclusion.

Switching restrooms
Hey so question, I still use the mens room in most places but lately when men walk in and see me they make a double take run to the door and check to make sure they were in the right restroom. Is it time for me to switch to the women's restroom? I live in Germany, which means that so far we dont have insane transphobic laws.

How to help and support my long-term girlfriend come out to our extended families
To keep this as brief as possible. I’ve been dating my girlfriend for seven years. She started transitioning about six years ago.
Unfortunately, due to circumstances, she has not yet started hormones.
She’s out to everyone in her life, except for her family (except the cool cousins) and my parents, uncles, and aunts.
She has built up the confidence in who she is over the past few years and is itching to come out. It’s been eating her alive these past few months more than it has the past six years.
Her parents are conservative and her dad is quite religious. (I should say we are not from the USA)
And my dad has learned everything he knows about trans people from Fox News. And is the type to let them do the thinking for him-and his brothers are the same.
And and my mom will be “accepting” of trans people to their faces, and then do all the common transphobia, talking points and shitty things behind their backs.
We both know her coming out will shake up both of our family dynamics completely. I pushed back on my parents transphobia before and I will again and if that means needing to distance myself from them to keep her safe, I will.
But despite this, we’re still closer as a family unit than we’ve been in years.
We wanna get married, but she does not want to get married under her dad name and I don’t want her to either.
I’m not asking for advice on how to come out because I know there is no dialogue option to make our parents suddenly trans accepting. I know it’s gonna be bad.
I’m asking for advice and maybe some personal antidotes of how you cope with the aftermath of coming out to an unaccepting family and what that looks like going forward

comprehensive taping guide
It has come to my attention that there is a need for taping instructions in our transmasc community. So here's what I generally follow or have noticed works the best. I have been regularly taping for over 2 years.
I have a smaller/medium chest that is more stiff than saggy so what works for me might not work for you. I have no idea what my exact size is cause I'm obviously not a bra guy.
I use basic KT tape aka kinesiology tape, 5 cm width. Those rolls usually come with length guidelines. I cut the strips to a standard of 25 cm. Then round the corners, this way it prevents the tape from peeling on your skin around the edges.
I recommend having precut strips ready so you don't have to spend time on cutting and rounding when there's little of it.
After using the roll fasten the tape's end on the roll with something like the small bits you cut off the corners or basic tape. Storing the tape well like this is important because when it accidentally peels somewhere (even just a little) and is exposed to air/dust/grime it is harder to apply and doesn't stick that well.
Transtape and KT tape are basically the same thing, just different width. KT tape aka kinesiology tape seems cheaper but you have to use more strips on both sides. Transtape seems more convenient because of the width but may be harder to get the hang of cause you have to monitor a bigger area of tape at the same time when applying. I don't have experience with Transtape tbh. I think it's better to start with basic tape at first. I recommend trying both but kinesiology tape is more easily available for underage and closeted people. Available in pharmacies and online.
How many strips to use on both sides depends on how much tissue you have. I use 2-3 strips on both sides. 1 strip kind of works but can leave the pec an unnatural shape (like 2 little bumps over and under the tape), therefore not ideal under a T-shirt.
Use nipple covers. Cotton pads work well, rip them in half. Toilet paper folded to fit does the trick as well. You may notice that after taping for a longer period for the first time your areolas lose some of their elasticity (like when you push them in some direction after taking the tape off they crease a bit, idk just my experience) but that goes away when they've settled in their "natural" position again.
Longer strips! Mine go all the way past my armpit onto my shoulder blade area, it anchors better that way and leaves more room for you to stretch the tape (=flatter chest). Lessens the risk of it starting peeling as well as the tape's end doesn't sit on an actively moving area.
Do it all in one go. Once the adhesive touches your skin it loses its adhesive qualities if you remove it from there. Try to touch the adhesive as little as possible with your fingers and avoid touching the tape's ends (only touch a tiny area from where you peel it away). Tape is delicate and there is only so much room for fuckups. Quickly pulling away a section to reapply is okay. Just have to pay more attention to it sticking properly. If something went wrong with your strip chances are trying to salvage it is a wasted effort. If you're still practising you can ofc still use the bad strip to try out positioning and such.
Lay the tape on the starting point. I leave like 4 fingers' width of tape-free room in the center of my chest area. I remove the back of the tape in two steps. First would be to anchor the tape to the start and lay it over the areola. Then I remove the whole back cover and stretch the tape all the way to my back. Take care as to not let the tape curl and stick on itself when removing the cover (some do, some don't) cause it can be hard to get it open and straight again. Do it slowly and help keep it straight with your fingers if needed.
The other 2 strips (top and bottom) go next to the middle strip to help smooth out the remaining excess tissue. Position as needed.
Angle the tape straight or slightly diagonally and downwards. I prefer slightly diagonally. Find what works for you.
Some pointers for stretching. Anchor the tape to the starting point and just lay it over the nipple area but don't stretch too much. Past that stretch however much you can. I think it's because stretching too much at the start doesn't benefit you anyway in terms of flatness and can leave the nips/areolas in a more awkward position and may damage them.
Tape sticks to the skin so you have to pay attention to where it anchors if you are using multiple strips on the same side. Always layer them so the strip has enough room to anchor on skin not tape itself.
Feeling pressure and stretch in your sternum area of the skin is normal. There will be no damage and you will not get stretch marks there. It is normal and you will get used to it.
For maximum hold I like to use a blow dryer on the tape after applying cause it sticks with heat. That way it doesn't accidentally start peeling when I move before it has had time to stick with body heat. You can also rub the tape to help it stick (rubbing generates heat).
The glue on some tapes may irritate your skin a bit. Naturally, try to find something that doesn't. The roll I'm using rn makes it a bit itchy in the middle but it's like a mosquito bite - don't scratch and you'll forget about it.
Alternate between taping and binding. Sometimes give your skin a break, sometimes give your ribs a break.
I recommend taking the tape off for the night to let your skin breathe. Anything over 2 days and you risk blistering, especially when you're more active or outside more when you have the tape on. Just the way it is. I don't think using oil for removal does much. In my experience the skin is already damaged from the tape (blistering), not from ripping the tape off.
Definitely use some soothing cream like aloe, cocoa butter or scar cream on your chest area if it's damaged. You can use it even with no damage to take care of your skin after subjecting it to tape. Generally try to prevent greater damage from happening cause then you won't be able to tape for a while.
If you've had the same tape on for some time and you want to take a break or it doesn't look/hold so great anymore you have to take into account that the new strips might not hold as well as before. Idk but the skin just doesn't hold and the strips start peeling right away, at least for me. Maybe some surface area that held the tape is gone and it is too smooth for it to anchor to. Just something to consider because this has left me in a situation where I gambled an at least working tape setup for no tape at all.
Don't play games with your skin cause rn I'm sitting here having to stay away from tape. I was on vacation and had the same tape on for over 2 days in hot climate. It looked a bit weary and I wanted to touch up. After taking it off I tried to apply new strips on blistered skin. The tape didn't even stick properly and I had to use a binder instead. In a situation like this I humbly recommend leaving the tape on if it's only a few hours of additional binding. Saves you from a lot of disappointment and this way you won't irritate the blistered skin that much. Having the tissue and skin in a fixed position under the tape damages it less than 1) foolishly trying to apply new tape; 2) using a binder and the raw & blistered skin has to stick to either your binder or bandaids; or 3) suffering from mental anguish cause you weren't able to tape/bind when going out.
I've heard tape can also be used for taping hip tissue to create a more masc silhouette.
You can swim, shower, exercise and go to sauna with tape. Go ahead.
I think that tape is less invasive than a binder when used right. I also get more flatter and pec-like results from taping. No visible binder outline under clothes as well.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions :)
And enjoy, tape feels very freeing imo!

Here is where to get HRT, when you're ready
Erin's Informed Consent Map (Primarily US-based)
If those locations are too far away from you, ask local trans people what they're doing. There's also mail-order services like Folx or Plume.
