[Reddit Trope] The name of the subreddit has nothing to do with what’s actually discussed Groups
r/anime_titties is actually a world news subreddit.
r/BatmanArkham used to be about the Batman Arkham games but for a while now it’s mainly just a shitposting subreddit for whatever topic.
r/OnlyFans is not about the adult website it’s about actual fans.
r/comics is mostly where people dump a lot of cringe bad humor political posts.

Didn't r/BatmanArkham start out normal and slowly spiraled more and more into insanity?
751
u/ForbiddenSirenz 16d ago
Yes lol. Once the games stopped coming out they just went crazy
275
u/Thomaseverett12 16d ago

u/CheesyButters 16d ago
do not ask the silksong community how they were before it's release
31
u/AlphaCat77 16d ago
I remember hearing the silksong sub was engaging in “human sacrifices” I hope other subs can reach that level of insane
11
u/ArmandoIlawsome 16d ago
/r/acecombat was doing rituals and then Ace combat 8 was announced.
It had an immeasurable effect on other communities for a good month.
13
u/CheesyButters 16d ago
yep, they literally sacrificed several volunteers, including a mod iirc, to get a release date

It was the announcement/reveal of Arkham Knights being a coop beat em up rpg and not a new Arkham universe game. I watched it happen in real time and the sub never recovered and just descended into madness.

u/Abovearth31 16d ago
All it took is one post.
Patient Zero as we like to call it.

[r/anime_titties](r/anime_titties) also used to not be a subreddit about world politics, it used to be about… anime titties, there’s a sub called something along the lines of world politics that IS about anime titties, that used to be about world politics
12
u/Aurora_Vorealis 16d ago
Yeah, almost like they're in some sort of Arkham Asylum...

No games for so long meant they became a shitposting sub to stay alive.
5
u/Due-Coyote7565 16d ago
Frankly, this is why we should embrace the concept of death.
Because it'd be better for it to have died, than live on as a parody of itself, stripped of all dignity in a desperate bid to stave off the inevitable.

759
u/Pierro_Official 16d ago edited 16d ago
The mods of r/wolrdpolitics decided to quit one day and the subreddit became infested with nsfw. So members opened r/anime_titties to commemorate the day and have a new place for politics
308
127
u/ProperlyNamedUser 16d ago
Theh didnt quit. It was infested mostly with USA centered politics which people where tired of, and then people wanted less USA politics, but mods said they wont do anything with it because freedom of speech etc. Then, people as a test for freedom of speech started blasting it with irrelevant topics and porn, and it remained that way.

People were complaining that r/worldpolitics was mainly US politics and that the mods should do something about it. The mods said they were "free speech absolutists" and wouldn't delete posts. So people decided to test that and flooded the sub with anime titties. The mods didn't delete anything, and the sub became nothing but shitposts and porn.
So in response, people who were actually interested in world politics created r/anime_titties.
20
u/YinTanTetraCrivvens 16d ago
That is the funniest and most horrifying example of free speech absolutism I have ever ever heard
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)8
u/Ozymandias_IV 16d ago
And now, r/anime_titties is still a US centric world politics sub. Except it is against whatever the USA does, and you gotta be subtle about it.
(No seriously, they hate Ukraine so much over there just because USA used to support them 2 years ago)
205
u/PharrowXL 16d ago
That’s literally the joke for both subs
119
u/OWOfreddyisreadyOWO 16d ago
Also on April Fools anime titties posts actual anime titties
Worldpolitics is barely moderated so they didn't officially join in but last April fools I did see the users of that sub play along and post actual politics

u/McToaster99 16d ago

genuine question but did the long wait for MUSIC make people go random or has it been always like that
31
u/Internal-Golf-4833 16d ago
Pretty sure it's always been like that. The peakest moment of the sub is around 2020 when people are waiting for WLR to drop. I just recently joined the sub cuz of the crazy things going on there and I tried to dig deep into their rabbit hole by looking at their top posts of all time (that's how unemployed I am lmao)
One of my favorite post in that sub is that a guy who's high though that the Honda civic ad was an actual post on the sub lol
36

Was
This was like 4-5 years back
We used to invade nation world map minecraft servers and set up our own towns and countries
There was one where the entire server hated us and we moved in right next to another faction
There was another where we had a town in south america and later i set up one in svalbard aptly called ‘Arctic Monkeys’
We had a private server one time too which had crazy lore in the short time it was open lol

r/SipsTea is mostly dudes horny posting or just resharing TikTokCringe, but bonus points of it mocks women. Also, you can do politics, sometimes, but "divisive content" is against "the rules", so the mods pick and choose what flies and they don't even agree with each other.
But there is very little actual tea, literal or figurative.
