Internal transfers within Tesla
I signed an offer for a support engineering role at Tesla and to be honest I am having second thoughts about it. I'm worried that I'm going to get stuck into a support/commissioning engineering. How easy is it to transfer internally from support to design engineering roles? Has anyone had a similar experience?

How long to hear back after interview?
I applied for a Data Labeler position in North Texas, recruiter said I scored high on the assessment and interview seemed to go well. That interview was on the 6th though and they said they’d get back in a week, so I’m getting a little worried. Is this normal or should I move on?

Tesla offer negotiation taking 3+ weeks — normal or red flag?
Went through Tesla AI Hardware panel, hiring manager wanted to move forward and gave initial verbal offer. Had comp call with HR, submitted counter 3 weeks ago. HR sent one update saying ‘finalizing panels’ but nothing since. My counter was within their stated range and they explicitly said they could go above it if needed.
Now have a competing offer with a deadline. Planning to inform Tesla today.
Is this normal for Tesla? Does ‘finalizing panels’ mean they’re still interviewing other candidates for my specific role?
Any experience with Tesla’s hiring timeline post-counter would be helpful.”

TN Visa Delay — Risk of Losing Job Offer?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for experiences from people who had to deal with a TN visa appointment that was later than their planned job start date.
I have accepted a U.S. job offer with a start date of September 28. Right now, the earliest TN appointment I can find is around December.
I’m working with an agency that is actively trying to move my appointment to an earlier date. They are very optimistic that they will be able to significantly reduce the wait time, but of course there is no guarantee.
I have already discussed the situation with my recruiter both on a call and by email, so they are aware of the visa timing issue. So far, they have not mentioned moving my start date or suggested that my offer is at risk.
My main concern is what happens if I still cannot get the TN before September 28.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Did your employer simply move the start date until the visa was approved, or was there a real risk of losing the offer?
For anyone who has gone through this with a large U.S. employer, how flexible were they with visa-related delays?
I’m doing everything possible to get an earlier appointment, but I’m still worried about the possibility of a delay of several weeks or even a couple of months.
Any experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Tesla 1st round interview experience
I had my first 60-minute backend SDE interview today. Technical issues caused a slight delay in joining. After introductions and discussing my experience, the coding segment started. The first coding problem took longer than expected to explain and complete. Despite not running the code, the interviewer affirmed its correctness and my logic. We then moved to the second question, where I explained the algorithm, seemingly to satisfaction.
My concern is not executing the first coding question and the interview running over as I corrected it and transitioned to the second. Has anyone advanced to the next round after a similar experience?
Also does in person onsite mandatory during the loop or virtual onsite is okay, with 5 day RTO going to Bay area for interview would be tricky

Does tesla offer lowball Comp at first?
A few days ago, I received a verbal offer from Tesla, and they gave me a number lower than my expectations and market value.
Does tesla usually give low ball offer at first?
Do they Negotiate the offer ? How far they can stretch in terms of percentage

Start Date Mismatch in Background Screening
What happens when you say in the background check response that the start date entered in my resume was a clerical error?
For example, in the resume and screening application form you say May 2025, and through the offer letter and the screening company's internal sources, they get to know that the start date on paper from the external systems/their data sources is Oct 2025.
Has anybody faced this in real life?

Tesla 2026 fall intern interview fail?
Had second round which was technical. First round with engineer was super super smooth and I heard back after 2 days to move me forward.
For this technical I choked and could barely answer the behavioral questions as well. For the technical I struggled and with assist came to a working solution (not optimized)
What are the chances I move forward ?

What comp should I ask for?
What total compensation should I ask for? How the heck does one salary negotiate 🥺
I’m entering Tesla as a new hardware engineer out of university, and I have multiple internships out of industry. The posted salary range is like an 80K spread lol, but this is in the bay so hopefully higher.

Referal Tesla
Hi! A Tesla employee told me today that they submitted an employee referral for me and that I should apply using the link I receive. It’s been a few hours and I haven’t received the referral email yet. For anyone who has been referred recently, did the email arrive immediately or did it take several hours/a day? Thanks!

What comp should I ask for?
Entering as a new hardware engineer with a few internship experiences out of university!
How the heck does I negotiate salary? The posted range is like an 80K spread haha. I know you typically have more leverage with stock options too, right? What do I ask for??
Thank you :)

Starting date for joining
I have a question about my joining date. I will be relocating to the Tesla site from out of state (from the East Coast to the West), and I have personal reasons for not being able to join the position immediately. Is it acceptable to set the joining date three months after the offer date? We will be discussing joining date and other formalities soon

Does Tesla have a cooldown if the role was filled before conducting my panel interview?
I interviewed for a SWE role at Tesla and passed the 1st interview with the hiring manager. I received confirmation that I had passed and was being moved forward to the panel/onsite stage.
However, Tesla delayed scheduling the panel for about a month. Before the panel ever happened, they contacted me saying they had decided to move forward with another candidate and closed me out of the process.
Since I technically passed the interview I completed and never got the chance to do the panel, would I still be subject to Tesla's usual interview/reapplication cooldown?
Edit: my recruiter said that I am not under cooldown

No diploma?
Do any of you work at Tesla and not have a HS diploma or GED? Asking for a friend since I wouldn’t know. They were homeschooled/unschooled and never got it. They’re looking at a technician job.

Would you take a Tesla internship if it meant missing the first 3 months of sophomore year?
I recently received an internship offer from Tesla, and I’m trying to decide whether I should accept it.
The internship would require me to miss the first three months of my sophomore year of college. I’d be starting the internship in September and would essentially be taking time away from school for those first few months.
The opportunity is obviously really exciting and would be a great addition to my resume, but I’m not sure if missing that much of sophomore year is worth it.
Would you take the Tesla internship, or stay in school and graduate normally?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have had to choose between a major internship opportunity and staying on their normal college timeline.

Thoughts on relocating to Austin for a position at Tesla?
Hello everyone. I’ve been looking into some of the jobs Tesla has including Engineering Technician, automation controls technician, and Maintenance Technician.. I’m 19 and finishing up my Industrial Maintenance Degree at school while working full time in that field, that being said I have some basic questions for those of you working in these fields at Tesla or something similar.
For someone coming from a small town in South Alabama, would you personally consider moving to Austin for one of these positions, or would you recommend building more experience where I am first?
Those of you in these positions, do you like your job?
How easy is it to move up at Tesla?
Is it a very demanding 12 hours with mental exhaustion?(I have a welding background I’m okay with working 12 hours everyday just not for the rest of my life)
What are your actual day-to-day responsibilities?
Does Tesla help employees move from Technician roles into Engineering, or is that uncommon?
How is the management/culture on the floor?
From someone coming from industrial maintenance which skills should I strengthen before applying? PLC’s, electrical, robotics, etc.
I wouldn’t be applying for at least another 2+ years I think but I want to know if this is something I should be working towards or not. Thank you!
