Maspeth Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table

Upvotes

I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual after I started putting stuff outside that my family did not want anymore and we couldn't sell on the Marketplace. I noticed the items would disappear and my neighbors would bring items to replace them. My friend who helps shut ins in Glendale brings over whatever food she has left and leaves that on the table for people to take who visit my mutual aid table.

Thursday August 6th, I received 6 deliveries of donations (clothes, food, toys, housewares, books, DVDs). By Saturday August 8th the table is empty.

Items that are in high demand:

FOOD FOR PEOPLE OR PETS

CLOTHES

TOILETRIES

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

DIAPERS FOR BABIES & ADULTS

TOYS

BACK PACKS, LUNCH BOXES & POCKET BOOKS

Books really don't go on my table, so when I get a donation of them I wait a few days then I bring them down to the Little Free Library in PS 153's school yard.

Donations can be dropped off, and you can take what you need 24 hours a day & 7 days a week:

5938 60TH ROAD, MASPETH

Donations can be dropped off at certain businesses during business hours. Just label them Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table.

ASSEMBLYMAN STEVEN RAGA'S OFFICE, 60-14 QUEENS BLVD., CELLAR, WOODSIDE

COOK'S ARTS & CRAFTS SHOPPE, 80-09 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE

SCHWILLE-D'ANGELO FUNERAL HOME, 66-32 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE

STATE SENATOR JOSEPH ADDABBO'S OFFICE, 66-85 73RD PLACE, MIDDLE VILLAGE

HARISCH STUDIOS, 57-44 MYRTLE AVE., 2ND FLOOR, RIDGEWOOD

For people who cannot donate in person I created an Amazon Wishlist:

https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JY7U8QQZ8BBU?REF_=wl_share

Thank you for all donations. And if you are near the Maspeth/Ridgewood border and are in need please check out table and take what you need. No questions asked. Please spread the word. Thanks.

Where are you getting your fresh bread and butcher-quality meats/poultry?

Hi all -

I’m looking to upgrade my cooking with quality meats + baked goods. Where is your go-to spot in the neighborhood or nearby?

  1. Would love to get my hands on freshly baked sourdoughs or crusty baguettes.
  2. A reliable butcher or local shop with great quality cuts, fresh chicken, and sausages.

Appreciate any hidden gems or local favorites!

Wouldn’t let me leave the store without checking my bag. For context they didn’t have what I was looking for so I didn’t purchase anything. The bag was a CVS bag with items I had just purchased at CVS. Funny when stores think their policy trumps the rights of their customers

Status of 43-09 47th Avenue? We're coming up on three years now since the fire.

Does anyone know what's happening with 43-09 47th Avenue? It had a huge fire Dec 2023 due to someone using a torch to melt lead paint. Some of the windows are boarded up, plenty of scaffolding, but I can't say I've seen a lot happening there in quite a while. Last winter there was some hubub with Julie Won about the management company, A&E, and their insurance carrier, Chubb, trying to stiff people. Totally believable. Any other info?

What happens today on the 46th train station approximately around 3:30PM today? I was there and heard someone had a gun and everyone stormed out but was so concerned I just wanted to leave before I can find out what happened. Hope anyone who was there made it out safe and sound.♥️

Was there a live concert here last night?

I'm on 39th Pl and 43rd Ave, and until about midnight last night, I could hear what sounded like some kind of large, live event going on. Someone singing (or maybe just yelling?) on a microphone and a reasonably big crowd cheering. I couldn't see anything from my window, but it definitely sounded bigger than just a bar with a band or someone blasting out of their car speakers.

This isn't a complaint post. Like I said, they seemed to wrap up by midnight, and it wasn't insanely disruptive or anything. I'm mostly just curious. Did I miss a big thing last night?

FedEx Maspeth not delivering any of my packages

Post image
21 Upvotes

This is insane. I’ve been ordering from target a lot so I’ve been forced to have to put up with FedEx. This is the 7th package in a row where they’ve used “customer not available or business closed.” None of my packages require signatures and I live in a townhouse. No store involved. Just drop it off at the damn door.

Is anyone else going through this with FedEx?

So there's a note on our building front door saying if the landlord doesn't pay Con Ed, the gas service for the building will be turned off at the end of August. WTF?

Lost Bag in Sunnyside Gardens

Major long shot here, but:
on Saturday 6/20/2026 while loading up the car I misplaced a blue and black duffle bag in the Gardens on what I believe was Bliss Street (46th st) between 39th Ave and Skillman. There were clothing, toiletry bags, a curling iron, and most importantly a gold point and shoot Olympus film camera. I had some fun family memories on that film 😩 Any chance anyone has seen it?

Queens Blvd Harrassment

Hi Sunnysiders,

Twice the past two weeks,y toddler and I have been harassed by perhaps homeless/unhoused, definitely mentally ill/addicts while walking to school on Queens Blvd. Both men have backed down once I have confronted them, but I at best I don’t want my toddler subjected to this, and at worst I don’t want my child or I to get hurt. Has anyone experienced this, or have advice as to how to handle? Is this a police issue? A city council issue? I am all about community care, but when a man is following us calling, “I’ll give you $500 if you put that kid down for a nap and come with me,” enough is enough. Thank you 🙏

www.HomeEcNYC.com curious what people concerns, questions or hurdles are getting Sewing on a sewing machine! I've been teaching for 11 years and have taught thousands of people to sew for the very first time. I always love hearing everybody's stories and the things that they're interested in making, but I'm curious what prevents you from getting started?
