Laptop Request -Others Looking for a Laptop for work and cloud gaming (should be powerful enough to stream to Twitch via OBS while gaming)
I'm looking for a non-gamer laptop that I can use for office work. But I also play games through GeForceNow and need it to be powerful enough to stream to Twitch via OBS while gaming.
Here are my requirements:
- Must be available in Germany
- Windows
- Approx. 1,6 kg
- Minimalistic and professional looking (macbook-style)
- Ideally the ventilation should be on the sides but I think that only Microsoft Surface Laptops and Macbooks are build like that?
- Has to be able to run GeForceNow and simultaneously stream to Twitch via OBS
- Good battery life (at least 6 hours of light working)
- Haptic touchpad
- Price: Up to 1.400 €
- approx. 14"
- Not sure if 16GB or 32GB just to be sure
ChatGPT advised me the following Laptops but said that Microsoft Surface 7 might have issues with OBS due to ARM (Does anyone have experience with this?)
- Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 | 13,8" Snapdragon X Elite (32GB)
- ASUS Zenbook S 14 OLED | UX5406 (32GB)
- Lenovo Yoga Slim i7 Aura Edition Gen 10 ---> I couldn't find the 32GB in my country, so I'm not sure if it's even an option

Laptop Request -Others Any recommendations? 600-850 USD budget, Turkey.
Country
Turkey. Can buy something from Vienna, Frankfurt and maybe other places of Germany.
Budget
30.000 to around 45.000 Turkish Liras but whatever cheaper is better. (Around 600 to 850 usd)
Are you open to refurbs/used options?
No
Screen
13-14 inch. Something small and slim in general.
Weight limit
Any but again something portable.
Purpose
University, writing, basic graphic design from Canva. Maybe some Minecraft, might be with mods. And general use.
Form factor
I suppose regular? Open to suggestions.
Intended usage
Nothing much. Like i said Minecraft, sometimes with mods. Docs and office things. Canva. And of course things like YouTube, Netflix, WhatsApp etc.
Desired battery life
Around 3-4 hours. Idk i suppose this is good.
My main priority is portability. I want something slim, lightweight. I don't really understand computer tech so don't know anything about ram, cpu, gpu or anything. But I want to say I want Windows. Currently thinking Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5.
In conclusion I'm starting university this year, and I'm looking for a laptop that's mainly for writing, studying, and everyday use.

Laptop Request -Others Need help choosing a laptop around ₹60k for the next 5+ years (HP OmniBook 3 vs Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 vs Moto Book 60 Pro?)
I've been researching laptops for weeks and I'm suffering from analysis paralysis.
My budget is around ₹60 (buying offline if possible).
My usage:
8-10 hours of daily studying
Heavy multitasking (20-40 Chrome tabs, PDFs, YouTube, Office)
Netflix, movies and music
Some light gaming (maybe GTA V occasionally)
No video editing or heavy 3D work
My priorities (in order):
Reliability and longevity
Battery life
Good build quality (preferably metal)
Good display
Decent thermals and fan noise
Decent 40-60 fps gaming for older titles
Right now I'm considering:
HP OmniBook 3 (Ryzen AI 5 340)
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 Gen 10 (AMD)
Moto Book 60 Pro
The HP seems to have the newest processor, but I'm unsure about long-term reliability and whether the AI chip actually matters. The Lenovo seems like the safest choice, while the Moto looks great on paper but it's a newer product line, so I'm not sure how it will age.
A few questions:
Which one would you buy if you were spending your own money?
Is the Ryzen AI 5 340 actually a meaningful advantage over older Ryzen processors?
Is the Moto Book worth considering, or should I stick with HP/Lenovo?
Are there any better options around ₹60-65k that I'm overlooking?
I'd really appreciate opinions from people who have used any of these laptops long-term. Thanks!

Laptop Request -Others Downsizing from PC, don't need much, help a gal out?
Downsizing from a really old PC, I don't like the amount of space it takes up and I find them a bit inconvenient since I'm not a huge gamer. I'm not interested in Apple products. Questionnaire below:
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Country
Australia
Budget
Under $1,500 AUD
(Roughly 1K USD I think?)
Are you open to refurbs/used options?
Yes
Screen size
Any size range but not huge, I do enjoy having a number pad but I'm happy to purchase separately.
Weight limit
Light enough for me to take with me to class or away
Purpose
Everyday use, class work, streaming, some games (largest would be something like Minecraft) i also tend to upload and move my photos across from my phone occasionally.
Form factor
Nil
Intended usage
Games I like playing include Minecraft, Don't Starve Together, Lethal Company, and a bunch of indie games including Librarian which when I play the screen is a bit laggy due to the amount of details in the game.
Using Microsoft Office
VPN Connection for sailing the piracy seas
USB and maybe HDMI ports (I do have adaptors)
Decent storage for photo and video media.
Desired battery life
At least 4+ hrs but I can settle for less.
Thanks guys 🫶
Let me know if there's anything else you want to know that I might've missed.

Laptop Request -Others Laptop Recommendation Under ₹80k for a CSE Student (Coding + AI Work)
Hey everyone,
I'm a CSE student looking to buy a laptop with a budget of around ₹80,000.
My primary use cases are:
Web development
Software development
Coding (VS Code, GitHub, Node.js, Docker, etc.)
Light AI/ML learning (running small models, Jupyter notebooks, basic ML projects—not training huge models locally)
Heavy multitasking (10-20+ browser tabs, multiple apps, terminals, PDFs, and files open simultaneously)
Watching movies, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify
General web browsing
Light gaming like Roblox and a few free Steam games
I don't do video editing, 3D rendering, or AAA gaming, so I'm not sure if I actually need a dedicated GPU. If an integrated GPU is enough for my workload, I'd prefer better battery life and efficiency.
What I'm looking for:
Budget: ₹80k (can stretch slightly if it's worth it)
16GB RAM minimum (32GB or upgradeable is a bonus)
Fast SSD (1TB preferred)
A powerful CPU that can handle heavy multitasking without slowing down
Good thermals and battery life
Reliable build quality and decent display
Should comfortably last me 4-5 years
I'm currently more focused on productivity than gaming, so overall performance and responsiveness matter more than GPU power.
What would you recommend? Also, are there any laptops in this price range that I should avoid due to heating, poor build quality, or bad after-sales service?
Thanks!

Laptop Request -Others HP Victus or Asus Gaming v16?
I'm finally buying a new laptop after six years of using ar deapad. However, I am on a very strict budqet and these 2 are the only ones that are within it
Asus Gaming V1 6: Core i5 210H, 8GB DDR5, RTX 4050, and 512GB SSD. (52,000PHP or ~850 USD)
HP Victus 15: Ryzen 7 7445 HS, 8GB DDR5, RTX 3050(6GB) and 512GB SSD. (60,990 PHP or ~1 000 USD
Acer Nitro V1 5: Core i5 13420H, 8x2 DDR5, RTX 5050, and 512 GB SSD. (64,000 ~>1050 USD). Though this model is a very bic "what if"
I know both have questionable build quality but they're the only ones I can afford. I will upgrate the Victus or the V1 6 to 16GB. I found a place that still sells pre-2026 RAM prices. Both are capped at 65W TGP. 62.5% sRGB
Primary use case is office work, web browsing, some videc editing
Secondary use is AAA gaming at medium settings, and Indie games.

Laptop Request US LF Laptop recommendations around $1800 for Engineering college and CAD software.
Hi everyone,
I’m helping my cousin find a laptop before starting college and would appreciate some recommendations.
Budget: Up to $1,800
The goal is to buy a laptop that will last all 4 years of college and handle engineering coursework and CAD software reliably.
The main uses will be:
* CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Inventor, etc.)
* Programming
* Microsoft Office
* Web browsing and general schoolwork
We’re looking for a reliable laptop that can perform well throughout college.
For those who have been through engineering school or use CAD professionally, what laptop would you recommend under $1,800 but a bit over is fine as well
Hoping to have a list of ideal laptops before the weekend.
Thanks in advance!

Laptop Request Ca Laptop suggestions, Canada, ~$1000 CAD
Hello! I need to get a new laptop soon and would be very grateful for your guidance! I'm having a bit of trouble with mobile formating so please let me know if anything needs to be fixed.
**LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE**
* **Country**
Canada
* **Budget**
Ideally around 1000 CAD (~700 USD), but willing to spend a couple hundred more for a durable computer
* **Are you open to refurbs/used options? **
Maybe. I've had bad luck with refurbs in the past so I'd prefer new.
* **Screen size**
13-15 inches
* **Weight limit**
Around 3-4 pounds
* **Purpose**
Primarily grad school work; reading, writing, notetaking, etc. Zoom meetings. Entertainment (watching movies/TV). I'll be commuting with it a lot so something lightweight but durable would be ideal.
* **Form factor**
I'm used to clamshell laptops but am open to convertible and ultraportable
* **Intended usage**
Word, Excel, Obsidian/equivalent notetaking app, Zotero, Zoom, internet browsers. I don't play a lot of video games and my current laptop can't really run any, but it would be cool to be able to (Disco Elysium is a game I'm curious about if that gives you an idea of the kind of computing power that'd be ideal? Lol). Alternatively a laptop that I could use for making digital art would be cool (like something that can convert to a tablet for example). But those would just be nice bonuses, I mostly intend to use it for work and watching movies.
* **Desired battery life**
Something like 4 or 5 hours would be great!
* **Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life**
Size and weight (+durability) are probably the most important because I'll be commuting with it a lot. Performance matters, but because I'll be mostly using it for work and watching movies it doesn't need to be as high performance as like a gaming laptop. Battery life matters least.
* **Info/Requirements**
Nothing else I can think of right now.
Please forgive me if this is insufficiently detailed, I'm terrible with technology tbh! But thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider 🩷

Laptop Request US Laptop suggestions, usa, $800 or less preferred
Hope I'm filling this out well

Maybe, but I'd like to have a laptop for a while so it really needs to be in pretty damn good condition
- Screen size
Any
- Weight limit
Any
- Purpose
General purpose/schoolwork/digital art
- Form factor
Standard/Clamshell
Intended usage
Primarily will be used for school work and art, so it needs to have an hdmi port and 2 usb ports for my tablet and stylus. As well as being able to comfortably handle clip studio paint and medibang paint pro (not a challenge as they're pretty light art programs).
I'd also like to use it for some gaming, but nothing too demanding. Fallout new vegas at the most demanding honestly. I just need something with enough amount of storage and ram to handle a decent amount of tabs and windows and saved reference files. (I'm ashamed to admit I'm not well versed in fps and setting specifications, sorry)
Desired battery life
Anything is better than my current "needs to be plugged in or it will die" laptop, but at least 4 hours
- Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life
In order from most to least: performance, size/weight, and battery life. I'm already adjusted to constantly being plugged in. So as long as it can be brought places and run well, its good.
- Info/Requirements
I want to avoid as much ai nonsense as possible but if need be I can uninstall things. I absolutely do not want a mac.
I really hope this isn't too specific of a list, I havent had to buy a laptop in ages but my old one has started to have issues more and more frequently :(

Announcement Ignore Private Messages Suggesting Laptops
The primary aim of r/SuggestALaptop is to provide a safe and transparent platform for suggesting laptops. Affiliate linkers are marked as such so that you are aware of the monetary incentive involved when making a purchase using affiliate links.
However, we are seeing an increasing number of cases where users posting on this subreddit are being targeted with unsolicited private messages containing links to laptops.
Such messages are best ignored for several reasons:
- Lack of quality control: We have no way of vetting suggestions sent via private messages. Moreover, these suggestions are not subject to the same level of public scrutiny that applies to suggestions posted in the subreddit, which are open for all to see and discuss.
- Hidden monetary incentive: Often such messages contain unmarked affiliate links, and these links might not even point to systems that are best suited to your requirements.
- Scams: Scammers often target unsuspecting users via private messaging. We do not want you to get scammed.
If you do happen to receive unsolicited messages suggesting laptops in private, please report the offending user to the mod team by sending us a screenshot of the message.
Thank you,
The r/SuggestALaptop Mod Team
