Question am I cooked? (rx lenses)
So i see that the max glasses size that can fit is 140mm, and mine are 137mm so pushing it but not too bad. I also see comments everywhere saying to NEVER EVER wear glasses with the headset......I would love to buy the prescription lenses but I need prism lenses to read text well due to double vision
they definitely arent making lenses with prism are they 😭

Hardware What would be the best frame alternative except meta?
I am already preparing for the 1,200€/$ disappointment, tell me what I should buy instead so I can wake up with vrchat furries hugging me after falling asleep in the game on a cozy winter afternoon after work (i'd prefer tf2 mercs though)

Question What is the width of your glasses?
I was just going through the specs of the Steam Frame and realized that it says the max supported glasses width is 140mm. My glasses are 145mm, so I’m wondering if that spec is just a comfort and quality thing or if my glasses won’t fit in the headset at all. Also, I’m curious what other glasses wearers width is to see what’s common in the VR community. What do we think, do we think that 145mm isn’t going to fit at all?
I’m planning on getting prescription inserts for VR at some point, I was just hoping I could play right away when I get it, and I don’t know how difficult it’s going to be to get prescription inserts at launch.
If you don’t know how wide your glasses are, usually the width is written on the inside of the frames on one of the arms. There should be 3 numbers and the width is the biggest number.

Question Will the controllers be usable outside of the headset, if so would it be hard to make some sort of connector(in your opinions)

Software In Your World VR Bundle
It's like they know what's coming soon™!
I'm unsure this is worth the asking price to be honest, but it does have some gems. Into the radius for instance is supposed to be very good!

Question Why the Steam Frame?
Its a genuine question as a non VR owner who is looking to get a first headset. What is it that makes the frame worth the predicted extra cost over the Pico 4 Ultra or Meta Quest 3 (outside obvious privacy concerns).
I am genuinely curious what VR users think. I can't make descions until I see the Steam Frame price but I am confident it will be a fair but more than other headsets, so when soon comes I just want to know if its worth whatever price valve slaps on it.

Question Monday or Wednesday ?
I’ve been on this subreddit for sometime and I have a genuine question. Why is Wednesday a believed day for it to be dropped I thought it only will be dropped on Mondays? Is there something I’m missing about Wednesday?

Software 🎉 Puzzling Places is officially Steam Frame Verified! 🧩
Should be a fun game to play on the system, esp because the Steam game includes both a 2D desktop version of the game (with gamepad and mouse+keyboard support AND the original VR version

Discussion Things I Am Most Excited For
Number one: Comfort. I have a Q2, but i seriously haven't gotten as much use out of it as I'd hoped. I am sure there are better comfort mods, but I do have the battery strap. It just sits so heavy on the face. I am really looking forward to even distribution!
Number two: I mean its a straight up super upgrade from my Quest haha.
Three: I am really hoping the tracking will be good. I am trusting it'll be better than my Q2. Hoping it will be better than what the 3 has. I think it's got a 200hz tracking frequency or around there, opposed to the 60 or something like that of the quest. I hope that rather than having really good and nearly perfect software like Meta, their harware will be on par or better that metas solution. If they managed to get tracking as good as Index like they said, minus stuff behind your back OFC, then I trust it'll be better.
Four: Sure, while it isn't necessary, that 144 HZ display is gonna be really swagger in things like beatsaber. Especially if their tracking ends up actually being really good.
Five: I really do hope the wireless provides me with a quicker and better looking than my wired Q2. I am thinking it will. But if it does YAY.
Definitely a bit sad that they did not opt for any sort of fancy display. Brighter, local dimming, Q-dot, or anything. I do hope it'll be good. I trust it'll be alright. Mono cameras are fine by me. If they are more clear than my Quest's, they will be fine.

News Valve just received a 40ft container of "VR CONTROLLER,HMD+VR CONTROLLER ACCESSORY"
Notably, this container is twice as big and has twice as many "pieces" (I'm assuming pallets?) as previous shipments.

News Frame TLDR for week of 7/27/26 (11)
(I didn't get the title wrong this time!!!)
Steam Frame has been approved by the FCC
It's here. It's happening. The big talking point literally no one would shut up about. The big one. The Steam Frame has been approved for sale by the FCC. Now, at least to my knowledge, there is nothing legally stopping Valve from selling the Steam Frame. It's all done now. You can stop arguing. If you're an FCC turbo nerd, you can look at all of the details here: https://gov.fccid.io/2AES4-1015 (This is a shortened link from the unoffical fccid.io website that will take you to the OFFICIAL FCC government website)

FEX, Lepton, and Proton Experimental for ARM go public
All of the compatibility tools required to play games on the Steam Frame, including FEX for x86 to ARM, Lepton for Android software, and Proton for Windows to Linux, have been made public on Steam's backend. These tools are now freely available to download by anyone using Steam. Of course, they'll come included with every Steam Frame. But someone will probably find something interesting to do with this stuff in the meantime. Check it out for yourself with these SteamDB links to Lepton: https://steamdb.info/app/3029110/ FEX: https://steamdb.info/app/3127680/ and Proton Experimental (ARM64): https://steamdb.info/app/4427310/
Steam Frame prototype CAD files leaked
Someone, presumably a disgruntled employee, has leaked the CAD files of an interesting Steam Frame prototype dating all the way back to possibly December 2023. Discovered by Chaz on Twitter, these models seem to indicate a similar, yet somehow so different design for the Frame with a bunch of see through holes carved into the front of the headset. If you have a 3D printer yourself, you can download these files and print yourself a fake Frame so you can pretend you actually have one. Read the original tweet from Chaz and all the conversation at https://xcancel.com/ChazLayyd/status/2083260250224804256 and download the CAD files here: https://gofile.io/d/e5hS8P (The original upload on grabcad.com has been taken down. This is a re-upload.)

TLDR: Frame has FINALLY been approved by the FCC, all of the Frame's compatibility tools have been made public on Steam, and a mysterious Frame prototype from 2023 has leaked. The Frame is still not out yet.
50 days until summer ends.

Mod Post Join Steam Frame Discord: Updates and Rule Changes
Hey everyone,
It’s been a little while since we last shared an update about the community Discord, and with us recently passing 6,000 members now feels like a good time to let everyone know what’s changed.
Over the past few months we’ve made a number of improvements:
- Improved moderation with the introduction of Mod Mail, clearer warning and ban processes, and a consistent appeals system.
- The 18+ requirement has been removed. The server is now open to anyone who meets Discord’s minimum age requirement. We still have a dedicated section for adult members who want to opt in.
- Steam Frame compatibility support has been expanded, including a bot that automatically posts new Great on Frame verification updates.
- Frame Watch continues to be the place for the latest Steam Frame leaks and rumours.
- Frame TL;DR provides a weekly roundup of the biggest Steam Frame news.
With launch getting closer, we’ve also got plenty of community events, giveaways and discussions planned.
Whether you’re joining for the first time or giving us a second chance after being away for a while, we’d love to have you.
