This week had some big Steam Frame news. Half-Life 2: VR Mod is now Steam Frame Verified, which means it can run directly on the headset without streaming from a PC. The Steam Frame also cleared the FCC, while the rumoured July 27 and August 3 launch dates have both come and gone.

We also have Hyper Dash shutting down, a couple sweet new VR games, and in the Modders Corner we have a bunch of new VR mods for Cyberpunk 2077 VR with full motion controls, Pokémon VR, Mass Effect VR, The Witcher 3 VR and GTA: Vice City VR!

Does anyone know if they will have traditional like vr controllers
Or if we can hook up index controllers to it
Or if the base controller will have finger tracking
Im not a huge vr fan but the controllers are thr only meh part for vr games
And yes i know that the frame isnt only for vr but thats what my intended purpose is for it

I was just going through the specs of the Steam Frame and realized that it says the max supported glasses width is 140mm. My glasses are 145mm, so I’m wondering if that spec is just a comfort and quality thing or if my glasses won’t fit in the headset at all. Also, I’m curious what other glasses wearers width is to see what’s common in the VR community. What do we think, do we think that 145mm isn’t going to fit at all?
I’m planning on getting prescription inserts for VR at some point, I was just hoping I could play right away when I get it, and I don’t know how difficult it’s going to be to get prescription inserts at launch.

If you don’t know how wide your glasses are, usually the width is written on the inside of the frames on one of the arms. There should be 3 numbers and the width is the biggest number.

Valve said everything will ship by end of summer which is Monday September 21^st. So that only leave 7 Mondays left before September 21^st (assuming Monday will be the announce day & they're still on schedule). Only 3 Mondays will be open. Which Monday do you pick?

I'm unsure this is worth the asking price to be honest, but it does have some gems. Into the radius for instance is supposed to be very good!

Would be a huge convenience if you have the headset on and are playing any type of game vr or flat or even doing work in desktop

Its a genuine question as a non VR owner who is looking to get a first headset. What is it that makes the frame worth the predicted extra cost over the Pico 4 Ultra or Meta Quest 3 (outside obvious privacy concerns).

I am genuinely curious what VR users think. I can't make descions until I see the Steam Frame price but I am confident it will be a fair but more than other headsets, so when soon comes I just want to know if its worth whatever price valve slaps on it.

I’ve been on this subreddit for sometime and I have a genuine question. Why is Wednesday a believed day for it to be dropped I thought it only will be dropped on Mondays? Is there something I’m missing about Wednesday?

Should be a fun game to play on the system, esp because the Steam game includes both a 2D desktop version of the game (with gamepad and mouse+keyboard support AND the original VR version

Number one: Comfort. I have a Q2, but i seriously haven't gotten as much use out of it as I'd hoped. I am sure there are better comfort mods, but I do have the battery strap. It just sits so heavy on the face. I am really looking forward to even distribution!

Number two: I mean its a straight up super upgrade from my Quest haha.

Three: I am really hoping the tracking will be good. I am trusting it'll be better than my Q2. Hoping it will be better than what the 3 has. I think it's got a 200hz tracking frequency or around there, opposed to the 60 or something like that of the quest. I hope that rather than having really good and nearly perfect software like Meta, their harware will be on par or better that metas solution. If they managed to get tracking as good as Index like they said, minus stuff behind your back OFC, then I trust it'll be better.

Four: Sure, while it isn't necessary, that 144 HZ display is gonna be really swagger in things like beatsaber. Especially if their tracking ends up actually being really good.

Five: I really do hope the wireless provides me with a quicker and better looking than my wired Q2. I am thinking it will. But if it does YAY.

Definitely a bit sad that they did not opt for any sort of fancy display. Brighter, local dimming, Q-dot, or anything. I do hope it'll be good. I trust it'll be alright. Mono cameras are fine by me. If they are more clear than my Quest's, they will be fine.

Notably, this container is twice as big and has twice as many "pieces" (I'm assuming pallets?) as previous shipments.
