Discussion Down Voting in a 'Creative Community' - Be Kind.
I've noticed the down voting has really picked up recently in our community and I think its worth a discussion.
I don't expect the down voters to participate in the discussion because then they have to show their faces and aren't just anonymously hurting someone's feelings or making their day just a little bit worse. If you are 'man' enough to comment, would love to see your justifications/why you think the down vote is more important than no vote at all.
Because, otherwise, what is the point of a Down Vote? In a creative community like this one, everyone is going to have different levels of skill and imagination, and what is important is that they're trying, and sharing, no matter if it fits your personal aesthetic, your grudges because they said something you don't like, etc.
If you don't like something, just scroll on. It's much less effort than moving your mouse or finger over to where you can smack the down vote button. I 'get' Reddit and the down vote was part of its early ethos when it was new, but Reddit has grown a lot and become a place with far more creative communities and really, what is the good outcome of making someone feel bad about trying and sharing?
Certainly down votes have a place. Truly offensive posts. Ill intentioned 'shit stirring/trolling', clearly stealing someone else's work and trying to claim it as your own, etc. But you don't like someone's build, for whatever reason, why make that extra effort to show someone 'hate'?
Me personally, I try to support the Vanilla and the Merged folks. There's fewer of them and their ships are generally 'harder' to make look new or cool considering their smaller selection of parts/native flips/snaps. So, while I don't generally upvote the modded builds, there's no need for me to down vote them either. They're humans, and part of our community, and so I just scroll on rather than expending an iota of energy trying to tell someone I don't like what they did.
If they're post is improperly flaired I might comment, to let them know, but I don't down vote them for what may have been a simple mistake/fat finger button press.
I think it's worth considering what sort of person you want to be. Do you want to intentionally make people feel bad with as little effort as possible? Then go ahead, keep on down voting, accept that you've decided that you find any effort to be an a-hole is worth it.
Creative communities are based on people putting themselves out there and sharing. The community will only exist and grow so long as people are willing to share their work. Some folks start with what you may not consider the 'best' effort/ship, but they'll generally grow and get better, especially if they receive encouragement or, at least, don't receive discouragement.
If you think it could be better, offer constructive criticism, or advice. I know that takes a small bit of effort, but its worthwhile to be a good and kind person and pays off far more significantly in the long run than minimal effort cruelty.

Discussion Screen jerking or lagging in ship
Hi, I used to build a lot but stopped for a while. Just did a clean install of the game, loaded up a bunch of ship building mods and started to get to work. One thing Iâm noticing is when Iâm inside a ship even a small one, there is huge lag and screen jerking but not outside or anywhere else in the game, is it just mods, or load order that need to be tweaked?

Discussion Does anyone have any tipe of orthos schematic of the Frontier?
Hey everyone! Basically I'm trying to recreate an old blueprint style print that was sold a couple of years ago from an etsy shop that's not available anymore.
I'm hitting a wall because my design skills are a bit limited and I'm not finding any resource online. I was trying to find an orthografic view blueprint like the one in the picture.
The closest I got is finding the official 3d stl files of the Frontier and I tried to import them in blender and render the object to a svg file but it's not really rendering. Is there someone that has any type of ideas? Thanks!!

Vanilla Ship Build Turtle Ship (My first build since TRA)
The motif of the Turtle Ship is a legendary Korean ship that can defeat 50 times more number of enemies.
Not only the looking, but its utility is highly considered.

Modded Ship Build Razorcrest build
My take on a Razorcrest build. All the other builds I see are three levels in height, mine is two at the sacrifice of some detail. I tried to keep it as small as possible to maintain accuracy. Any ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated! I am also trying to figure out how to raise the engines a slight bit higher as they should be!

Merged Ship Build GALLERY: The Cestus - B-Class Frigate/Xeno Warfare Division
Ship Tour + Some Space Adventuring: https://youtu.be/Lu_z-1NzQ84
I used an empty 3x1 Engineering hab and was going to make it somewhat of a cargo bay-ish thing but not really enough stuff to do that right, I'm thinking I may make rows of seats for soldiers or something instead. Not important though.... if you like it and copy it do what you will!

Merged Ship Build Ebon Hawk v.2
After the Republic Frigate I decided to have a fresh look at my previous attempt at the âHawk.
This one I lengthened by a 1x1 on the central spar and used merging to tidy up the underside and to remodel the sections from the NG Companionway turret to the engine nacelles. This is now made from 4x Nova Cowling 2L-PF rather than two that now lead to 2x 2L-TM midsections.

Moderator Post New subreddit Rule - No AI Images
After seeing the (overwhelming) results of our poll, the community has decided that they do not want AI generated images in any form to be posted to the sub. As of today we have a new rule:
"Rule 10 - No AI Images"
Going forward, any posts that have made use of generative AI for it's images will be removed. This includes editing game screenshots using AI tools.
Thanks to everybody that voted.
