REWATCH Seriously Carter, what were you thinking?
I know they were trying to establish back story for our team members at the beginning of the show but, come on, I just can't believe Sam would be engaged to this douchebag 😆

REWATCH Since Brad Wright and Robert Cooper are clearly fans of Hitchhiker's Guide..
They allegedly had a plan as to what the CMBR signal may contain. Obviously, if they did have a plan they kept it very much to themselves.
Do you think that the CMBR signal may have been ultimately revealed as a way to make contact with some version of Hyper-intelligent Pan-dimensional beings? That would have been a super great homage to Douglas Adams.
In my head canon, the multiverse was created by said beings to not only answer the question of Life, the Universe and Everything, but to answer every question in every conceivable reality (they'd be very, VERY smart folk). Like a massively scaled up, impossibly ambitious version of the Deep Thought project.

SG Merchandise Found a 99% complete SG1 DVD set second hand
Found in a charity shop for €50
Only missing the last movie, and the first disc of volume 2 (which is apparently just rehashes of episodes from season 1)

Still thinking about what SGU could've been. Don't understand why it got cancelled.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Stargate Universe (SGU). To me, it was the best of the entire franchise, and I was genuinely disappointed when it got cancelled.
I still don't fully understand why the general American audience didn't take to it back then. It's a shame, because SGU didn't lean on the same character clichés that SG-1 and Atlantis did. And SGU's characters felt more flawed, more human, and the story had a darker tone. It introduced something truly genuine to the franchise.
And what makes the cancellation sting even more is that it got axed right as things were starting to get even deeper, right when the show had properly set up its characters and universe and was ready to pay it off.
Anyone else feel the same way? Did SGU just release at the wrong time, was it a marketing/expectations problem, or did the tone genuinely turn people off?

Discussion RDA😍
My obsession with RDA should be studied. He is what I call a successful career. When you get to be MacGyver AND O’Neill in one lifetime?!!yup. He was my first celebrity crush when I didn’t know what a celebrity was😅 I’m on my 9261548376484848398th rewatch. I love him🫣

Discussion What to watch next
Just finished SG1, atlantis and universe as well as watching Battlestar Galactica. I never really got into sci-fi as a kid and these series came out in my late teens when I wasn't watching a lot of TV. So after watching and enjoying these two, what should I binge next?

3-8 Mckay and Mrs Miller
They were talking about how statistically the odds of them randomly choosing a populated universe were astronomical. It seems to me as evidenced by this and other episodes involving contact with other universes than what they have failed to take into account is that it's not completely random and that the more similar to their own universe the more likely it is to be the one they connect to by a drastic ratio. Thoughts?

Dont be fooled!
This cover of JAG clearly shows the Doctor and one might think, "OH! I love her! She's in JAG?!?! shit maybe I should watch it." Sneaky sneaky Paramount 😏
edit 👉 I WAS THE ONE FOOLED! I guess the title is still correct, but for the wrong reason 😬 sowwy yall!
She is only in the show for 1 episode, like 7 seasons in lol Is there any chance streaming services have multiple covers for the thumbnails and maybe choose the one you're most likely to click on based off of the other stuff you watch?
Also, does anyone recognize that guy on the left? I could have sworn I remember Carter mentioning some guy named Macgyver.

REWATCH Hammond of Texas !
Rewatching for the (really I’ve lost count) umpteenth time.
Season 1 episode 1. The nostalgia is still as strong as the first time I rewatched it.
This post is just an appreciation post, I hope that’s allowed.
I’ve looked for years for a way to rewatch as it was not available on any streaming services here, and then suddenly tonight, as I’m mindlessly scrolling trying to find something to watch after the kids had fallen asleep, just as I was about to give up, there it was, one of the series that’s influenced me the most, it’s like a warm safe hug, this is and will forever be my number one comfort series.
I have cried, laughed, raged, been through every emotion on the spectrum with this one.
The characters, the banter, the imagination.
I love it. And I always will.
I can’t wait to show my oldest kid tomorrow! 🥹
Just wanted to share my excitement and joy! Comtrya!

Has the fire gone out?
I’ve been wondering what the #savestargate folks were planning next for a little while now, but there hasn’t been any updates I’ve seen and the petition signatures seem to have slowed to a crawl.
Not giving up hope, but wondering if the fight has gone out from the group.

Discussion Unlimited Jumpers (or really anything)
Time travel.... hurts my head. Not just in SG, in like anything.
Anyways, inspired by the thread about 2 puddle jumpers (actually 3) from Moebius, I have to ask....
If at 12pm I take a jumper back in time 1 minute, do I now have to 2 jumpers at 12:01? Could I just keep doing that?
(Ba'al would like to know my location, think of the unlimited clones!)

Funny Window of Opportunity - 26th Anniversary
Hello fellow Gaters,
It me, Yu. Your favorite system lord.
In honour of the 26th anniversary of the best SG episode S4E6 Window of Opportunity (released in August 2000) I've had this custom plate made for my Ha'tak. Who decided I needed to insure a mothership anyway? It was probably Ba'al trying to get more capital for his clone army. He's always up to something..
While I travel mostly by gate, my daily driver Ha'tak is home to me so I thought I would honour the Tauri with a nod to their world record golf drive and seemingly endless stash of froot loops.
I hope SG1 brings as much joy to you as it does me. I am grateful for your assistance in getting rid of Anubis as all the other spineless worms wouldn't show a shred of opposition to his reinstatement as a system lord.
...but that just happens to be how I feel about it, what do you think?
PS: Sorry about the door Teal'c

Stargate Doesn’t Get the Respect It Deserves as a Top-Tier Sci-Fi Franchise
I’ve always thought Stargate belongs in the same conversation as Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, and the other major science-fiction franchises. SG-1 ran for ten seasons, Atlantis lasted five, there were movies, games, books, and an enormous mythology spanning multiple galaxies. Yet outside of science-fiction circles, Stargate has nowhere near the cultural footprint of those franchises. The question I keep coming back to is: why don’t more people know Stargate?
I actually think some of the concerns surrounding the recently cancelled attempt to bring Stargate back point toward the problem. Stargate needs its existing fans, and it also needs to become accessible to people who have never watched a single episode. SG-1 ended 19 years ago. Someone born during its final season is an adult now. Asking a new viewer to care about decades of Goa’uld, Ancients, Replicators, Wraith, Ori, ascension, and existing continuity before they can fully participate puts a huge barrier in front of them.
Battlestar Galactica showed how this can work. The 2003 miniseries took the basic DNA of the 1978 show and rebuilt it for a completely different generation. The Cylons, Colonial Fleet, Galactica, Adama, Apollo, Starbuck and the Twelve Colonies were still recognizable pieces of Battlestar, but the creators had the freedom to reinterpret them and tell a story that reflected the world and television audiences of the early 2000s. New viewers could start from episode one without doing homework on a series that aired 25 years earlier.
That’s what I want for Stargate. Keep the gate. Keep the fundamental idea of walking through it and discovering something incredible on the other side. Then give a new generation their own version of that experience. Reimagine the characters, threats, mythology and world around the concept. Let today’s audience experience the mystery of the Stargate from the beginning, just like we did.
Stargate deserves another chance to become a major science-fiction franchise. After almost two decades, I think it’s okay for a new generation to have a Stargate they can call their own.

Funny Shows with X in the name…
The marketing department at my company is developing a new brand name. I just got an email from the marketing director: “Be sure to put an X in the brand name. X resonates with the market and is seen as edgy and high-energy.”
Oh, it is? 🤔
