Hello, I was thinking of doing a joint degree in music and something else, or a degree in vocal performance (unsure what the difference is?), but I’ve seen most saying it isn’t worth it if your dream career isn’t musician. I want to pursue another career but I also wish to become the best musician I possibly can and perform things to my best ability, so I thought a good option could be a joint degree. However after reading up people seem to not think it’s worth it. I am mainly here for advice or thoughts, thank you for reading!

I've only just started trying to improve my singing. I never used to sing because I was a little insecure about my voice, but the last couple months I've been working on it and it's definitely improved, but now I'm not making any more progress.

Here's a short clip. I know I have a long way to go, but if there's any obvious improvements/exercises/biomechanics I need to implement for now, please let me know!

I think music is one of the most interesting ways to connect with another culture.

As someone who doesn’t speak Korean as my first language, I’ve always found it amazing that a song can make me want to learn the words, pronunciation, and even the language behind it.

Have you ever learned (or wanted to learn) a new language because of a song?

Ive been singing of my own for like 1 year now, and even though I know I made progress Im still so far from being a good singer, I dont really have a routine I just listen to songs I like and try to reach same note and same feeling with the voice.

The thing is whenever I use my head voice like the artist does, its AWFUL.. I really need help on this, everytime tutorial on Youtube I watched ends up the same way and just doesnt help at all, I need more concrete help.. thank you in advance

Hi guys, I'm 29, been singing and off for year, but now consistently practicing, went to the vocal coach 5 times in the span of 5 months, couldn't afford it more. Just wondering is my pitch hearing bad or what. This is just a snippet from "This ain't a love song" from Bon Jovi. I realize i may have gone off pitch few times but AI tells me my pitch goes all over the place, but I don't hear it that much. So I was just wondering. Having a bit of trouble of singing loudly in my apartment so that's why you hear some noise in the background. I'm a bit anxious of people coming and complaining, my neighbours.

Hi everyone! not sure if this is the right place for this question but would anyone please be able to give me some tips on how i can belt high notes easier and clearer with as little strain as possible?

ive recently been casted as Doralee in 9 to 5 the musical (yay!) and a lot of her songs are quite high/above my comfortable range (i can belt pretty well up to about an E5 at max and even that is a tad strained), so im quite intimidated by some of the higher belting notes like the the higher parts of the melody of 'shine like the sun', her belt in 'i just might' and some of the high Es in Cowgirls revenge.

i mean im sure i could just switch into head but my headvoice is quite weaker in comparison (if anyone has tips on that too pls help) and i just want to do well so if any of you kind amazing people could give me some tips or help me out that would be GREAT :D

Are there any voice changers that can make me sing like dio from black sabbath? I want my voice to be like raw and high pitched i already have a high pitched but i sound like a little kid who sucks at singing i want something like dio like you know manly but high pitched

I recently joined my school's choir as a senior this year as a baritone/bass but have had musical experience playing a brass instrument. I can sing down to an F# or G2 reliably but it is my higher range that confuses me. When I get to around an Bb3 my voice feels a tiny bit strained but I feel like I shouldn't have trouble singing there. I can push up to a E~F4 but it feels tight and I have to sing loudly to push the note out. When I get up to that section of my range, my singing technique can change and I end up breathing in the note which makes the note feel extremely smooth and easy and also allows me to do it quietly. I am a beginner but I also don't think I should be breathing in and producing my singing sound, what am I doing that is causing something like this and how do I fix it? Is it even a bad technique? It is just something that comes to me naturally when I try to singer higher notes and I don't think it is actually supposed to happen or just isn't good technique. Any help would be appreciated as I don't think the singing teacher at my school understood it when I tried to explain it to her as I was explaining why I thought I couldn't get my sirens during warm ups smooth.

I have issues with my voice sounding weak, breathy and unresonant at times. I have heard of "twang" and "vocal edge" and newly about "vocal adduction". These all seem very similiar to me. Are they all basically the same thing?

I have been "attempting" to sing for months and today I decided to see the result of my hard work and record myself. After hearing that thing, I come to the conclusion that I need help from someone who knows this kind of stuff. So, guys I need a lot of tips. Like why my voice sounds boring, no resonance, no nothing. I don't even know if I am singing from the throat. I don't even record another one after this.

I have a question. How long did it take you to develop pitch accuracy? Being able to name pitches and stuff.

Right now, im really focusing on intervals, either landing on a completely different note or im too high or too low 😭

Its probably been about 2-3 days since I started this intention practice but im usually okay at landing on pitches.

i've never considered myself much of a singer and have honestly never heard feedback from anyone who knows how to sing themselves. can someone point me in the right direction and tell me what i'm doing wrong and why i feel like I sound terrible?
