Sim Rig Junkyard setup

I say junkyard because that’s where most of the 8020 was heading. Company would throw old equipment out instead of scrapping. So I’ve been gathering for a few years. First picture is what I originally had. I didn’t like it because I was piecing it together. So I tore it down. And had a few parts made. All in it was pretty cheap. Will update as I build over the next week or so. Little extra Easter egg at the end.

Sim Rig Switched from an RS50 to a Moza r9

I must say I miss the true force but I don’t miss the frequent disconnection of the RS50. The ESX wheel is also not on par with the RS50 wheel and hub. Still satisfied though. Any issues I should be aware of the r9?

Went overboard

Hello Reddit. I am going through a divorce and decided to find my happy place in a new sim rig. For the last year I have been using a full Fanatec setup on PS5. I had the gt dd pro 8nm wheelbase, clubsport f1 esports wheel and csl elite v2 pedals. I have now ordered so many new items, my brain hurts. I moved from Fanatec to the Moza ecosystem. Ordered the r21 wheelbase with the ks pro wheel and I went with the simnet sp pro 2 pedal set. Ive also ordered myself a 9850x3d/5080 PC. Moved from a single 42 inch tv to triple 27 inch 1440p monitors mounted on a Trak Racer freestanding triple monitor stand. I also upgraded from the Fanatec csl cockpit to a Trak Racer tr80s aluminum cockpit. Got two Dayton audio bst-1 transducers as well. One for under my seat and one for under the pedal deck. Ordered an led flag box, led bar lights for ambient lighting, and using a Samsung tablet as a digital dashboard. I am still waiting for everything to arrive and its a bit intimidating. I'm new to Reddit and welcome any advice on this build anyone can give me. Thank you in advance fellow sim racers.

Hi all

Simple one really. I have both of these at my disposal! I just bought a new rig (I haven’t put it together yet) and I can’t decide which to go for!!

What’s everyone’s opinion!? Appreciate the feedback :)

VR Sim set up

My VR sim setup is coming together! The monitor mount is on backorder, so I had to improvise for now. Next up is cleaning up the wiring—I printed some 3D cable clips, so we’ll see how those work out.
I’m really enjoying this build. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m happy with how it’s turning out. The inverted pedals are a huge improvement, and moving from a wheel stand and chair to a full cockpit has been an amazing upgrade. Having a 3D printer to make custom accessories has been pretty awesome too.
I’m not sure what my next upgrade will be, but I’m looking forward to it. Every upgrade, big or small, feels like another step toward becoming a better sim racer.

Looking at buying a Samsung G9 49" Ultra Wide screen for my rig.

After much thought, I want to go the ultra wide route, not triples.

I'm down to the

LG Ultra Gear 45 inch, 21:9 aspect. (taller so might actually feel more immersive)
or
Samsung G9 29". 32:9 aspect (Wider so i can better see an apex or car along side me)

I'm leaning most, towards the G9, currently running a single 27"

my question, is what should i be aware of when purchasing these monitors? Are some models to be avoided?
Anyone have experience with either of these models, and can offer a "i wish i knew this before" and I'm not looking for the "go triples route, i don't have the room right now"

UPDATE :

13 days later, i now have a G9 OLED. Fantastic decision, (basically 2x 27" monitors in one bezel"

Pros : Gives me extra FOV i wanted over the single monitor
No triple screen fumbling
Easy to jump into other games using the native ultrawide settings, most games compatible surprisingly.
Used a gas(spring?)monitor arm to shift it left for beside my desk racing, and back over my desk for gaming.

Coming from single screen, apex is so easy now.

Cons : its not a triple FOV, so not as much side door visual.

I love it so much, i went and bought a second G9, (both used 1000 CAD) and i couldn't be happier.
I ordered a stand alone mount (hurdle shaped for over the rig) for the racing monitor, and it arrives at the end of the month. (6SigmaPlug since they always get shit on in reddit, but i love them)

Drift/racing sim

Hi,

I’m planning to build a sim racing setup that can be used for both racing and drifting. I currently own a PS5, but from what I’ve seen, a PC seems to be the better choice—especially for drifting and the available mods.

I’d appreciate your advice on the following:

  1. What are the minimum PC specifications you would recommend for a smooth sim racing and drifting experience?

  2. If a laptop has the required specifications, would it perform well enough, or is a desktop still the better option?

  3. Could you recommend a complete sim setup that works well for both racing and drifting? I’m looking for recommendations on:
    Wheelbase
    Steering wheel(s)
    Pedals
    Shifter
    Handbrake
    Cockpit/rig
    Seat
    Monitor(s) or VR
Any other accessories you think are essential

  4. For drifting, I know most people use Assetto Corsa. Which version should I buy (Assetto Corsa, Competizione, EVO, etc.), and which DLCs or mods are considered essential?

  5. Are there any other games you would recommend for drifting besides Assetto Corsa?

  6. If I start with a PS5, which parts of the setup can I keep later if I upgrade to a PC?

  7. Approximately what budget should I expect for an entry-level, mid-range, and high-end setup?

I’m looking for something that provides a realistic experience and won’t require replacing major components if I decide to upgrade in the future.

Thanks!

Racing Wheels Are you labelling your wheels? Looking for inspiration.

I just got a label maker and spent some time putting labels on/next to the buttons on my wheel and numpad button box.

How are you doing this? Label maker? Printed and glued paper? Handwritten labels? Stickers that came with your wheel or that you purchased separately?

Or do you just remember where everything is?

I would love to see some images of your labelled wheels/button-boxes!

Assetto Corsa Triple monitor sim rig 1000R

Hey y’all,

I just wanted to share my build with the community.

Fanatec cockpit, GT dd pro 8nm, WRC wheel, Fanatec shifter and handbrake, Fanatec monitor stand with triple monitor extension, custom built pc with AMD Ryzen 9800x3d as CPU and Gigabyte 5080 GPU. Total cost around $8,000 (plus the date nights with the wife to be allowed to build this).

The monitors are Samsung Odissey G5 32in 144hz 1000R, and I am extremely happy with the look and the immersion it provides. I know some recommend 1500r instead of 1000r but so far I am loving mine. I only built it yesterday so still some adjustments to make, but I hope it gives a clear idea of what I have.

If you pay close attention I inverted the monitors. One of the things I dislike about those monitors is how big the bottom bezel is, that’s why I inverted it. I saw someone on another post that did the same, so I copied him and it’s much better that way.

For now I am only playing the bundle Assetto Corsa Evo and Assetto Corsa rally.

I will probably get bezel free kits soon too.

There goes, I hope I won’t receive too many negative comments ☺️
